Serways Hotel Remscheid

Room was clean and tidy, nice view from the room.

I will start by saying -we stayed here many times before However, on this occasion it was a joke.WE arrived around 8PM. At the door, there was information that it was now closed and we were supposed to pick up keys from a petrol station down the hill (next to motorway). I walked there. The staff there was completely confused. It appeared that keys were at different patrol station (other side of motorway). There was no explanation given to me, i Was just asked to wait and then waited and waited and waited. Only in the end I was told what has happened. It took ca. an hour. All that time, my wife needed to sit with three kids (two of them small) in the car, One of them need to go to the toilet - they ended up using bushes on the side of the hotel. It was getting dark and late - it's not ideal when you travel with small kids. For me it was OK to walk to that petrol station (and back) in the hours of darkness but I can imagine for a solo vulnerable traveller it could be very uncomfortable (especially the odd crowd that used that parking next to petrol station as sort of youngsters gathering site). Also -if I would choose to drive down to the petrol station, you can't easily drive back (unless you ignore the signs and in one place drive against traffic flow). No restaurant was available in the evening (children were hungry) and restaurant was one of the reasons we choose this hotel. There was no pre-warning that this will be the case.

Good location by the highway

Booked a familyroom, but the curtains was falling down when we came into the room. Got two rooms instead, so had to split us as family. The curtains in those rooms where also falling partly down. Hard to reach the staff when we had to fix the rooms.

Great location, calm, clean, and comfortable. Big room, by the way. It is my regular route, so I am going to stay here regularly in the future.

An excellent hotel, just off the highway. We used it for football games (Dortmund & Leverkusen) and its location is half way between so it was perfect. Also very good that it has a Mcdonalds and coffee/sandwich/fresh breakfast bar on site.

Everything was excellent and the location is also beautiful and easy to reach.The staff is kind and helpful.

There was no coffee machine in the room.

The location is easily one of the best after a long drive. You branch off the highway and a few meters thereafter you're there.

You can see from the get go they don't have enough staff for such a busy hotel & restaurant. But yeah, maybe that's why their prices are affordable.

Clean and nice room

Plastic sheet immediately under the sheets. But I just slept on top of the extra duvet.

Nothing, check in was closed so had to find another hotel on the spot which was very difficult

Beautiful lake view and clean rooms

Nobody between 22:00 to 07:00 in hotel. I needed to leave earlier than 7 am and i couldnt find exit with the direction papers in german language. Needs english sign boards.

Still ows us money

Still ows us money as they were overbooked and we only had 1 room instead og 2, eventhough we paid in advance.Wrote 2 emails about this, but still havent heard back.

Pleasant

Because we arrived late, the check-in was at the gas station. Unfortunately, we didn't receive the invoice for our stay, even though the hotel promised to send the invoice to my email.

It was a place to sleep and as such fine.

When my husband and colleague woke up at 7am, they couldn't log onto the Wi-Fi - it said their access had finished. Not good, especially for people on business trips.

Arriving late at night, it was difficult to find the way back to down the gas station to pick up the key.
