Pros +
- Location was great, It was also very clean and the staff was vey nice, polite and professional.
- The hotel is clean and comfortable and a welcome respite on the Camino Norte. The jacuzzi tub was great! Lunch was very good and I’d definitely stay at the Hotel Astoria’s again.
- The location was the best -- right on the main square. Our room looked out toward the beach. The room was clean and simple. Breakfast was great on Planta desayuno. We thought it was wonderful to be able to walk out the door and go to everything in a few minutes. I would love to go back! My husband says the Pan au Chocolat at breakfast were the best he ever had.
Cons -
- The room key did not work very well.It was a card and I guess the "conection" was not good enough
- Everything was great!
- Advertised as a 4 star hotel. Certainly is not. Maybe between 2 and 3 star. No bottled water in the room. Poor quality thin towels. Shower door was missing so the whole floor in the bathroom became soaked. When showering. Whole place could use some upgrading and repair. However the location was really good

Amazing location - views of the sea and the plaza mayor from our room. The hotel provides an excellent value breakfast (8 euros) and a very good lunch and evening menu. We had a fantastic three course lunch with wine (as in, a bottle of wine) for €20 pp. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent location, staff were really nice & helpful. Restaurant outstanding really good value. Would highly recommend.
Room, views, location, stuff, cleaness - everything perfect
Lovely hotel with spacious bedroom and bathroom. Great location and very clean. Excellent value for money.
The location, the rooms are big and clean, friendly staff
The breakfast was very industrial although not expensive
This hotel is on the plaza mayor with a beautiful dining room to the side with sea view, I had a juliette balcony overlooking the plaza mayor which I loved
Maybe a small bottle of water could have been left on arrival
Lovely big room and bathroom. Sheets changed daily. Very quiet. Had room with view to the beach which was lovely. Nice TV though I didn’t understand a word of it as everything was in Spanish lol.
Nothing I can think off.
Perfect location, close to beach, restaurants, sights, friendly helpful staff
Lovely hotel on the main Plaza Mayor and next to the beach. Friendly and helpful staff (super helpful in my case) and charming room. Perfect base to access Gijon with the old and new towns and beaches and marinas all a short and pleasant walk away.
décor, location, helpful staff, old fashioned, huge and confortable bed
The location is perfect and so it’s the view from the room. The staff was friendly and accommodating and everything was very clean. The bed was super big and comfortable
Nothing. All was good, we could have stayed longer
Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, great wee restaurant with set menus-€15 two courses with a bottle of wine!! Great location. Parking within 5 mins walking distance.
Nothing!
Love old world charming hotels and this is one!!!! Fab location and so so clean. Didn't eat there but menus looked lovely?????
It wasn't a deal breaker but I found the bed somewhat uncomfortable, a bit hard and feel it would have benefitted from a thicker mattress. TV wasn't working but again not a deal breaker and we didn't even mention it to the staff.
Breakfast, we went out to get it, breakfast here is not very good.Room was very good overall: good beds, good a/c, good bathroom, horrible wifi unstable, not possible to stream or have zoom meetings
The man at the reception with the name Wenceslao was really rude and insulting. I asked him about directions to park the car and he said my questions made no sense but that as they say "the client is always right" I was allowed to ask stupid questions on and on, he showed no empathy and kept on repeating that we were stupid for not understanding his words. let me tell you that I am fluent in Spanish so there is no misunderstanding. My first language is Spanish. He was awful and made us feel upset, he should not be in a place where he deals with people.
Great location.
Room was on the small side but very clean. Great views over Plaza Mayor though.
We stayed in the modern part of the hotel. The room was very spacious with a very large, comfortable bed and a good sized bathroom. The location was perfect and the staff were very friendly.
The paintwork on walls could be freshened up to make it look cleaner in places.
