Svatma–A Luxury Heritage Resort

The property has great potential but lacks maintenance

Everything, they had confirmed early check in at 1 pm , but the room was handed over at 2:45 pm .Only 1 restaurant is functional with 3 staff members handling it all. They are extremely understaffed and badly managed I don’t blame the staff they did their best, the owners lack accountability and deserve to be sued for false advertising No pool, no live music , no spa and only1 restaurant

The heritage room was very pretty.

TV didn’t work the whole time. Security deposit didn’t work. Had to call five times to get it fixed. Didn’t replace towels on time. Had to call to have extra body shower gels. Front desk was terrible. Most of the time they never called the right people. Pool didn’t get cleaned or usable the whole time.

Spacious rooms, friendly staff, very tasty estaurant. The hotel is an oasis in an otherwise hectic city. There were not many guests staying as we visited during the low tourist season, so everything was quite personalized for us. Location was a bit further out from the city center but this is a positive not a negative.

Due to visiting during the tourist low season, there hotel felt almost eerily quiet at times. The pool and bar were closed for presumably the same reasons

1) bed linen has ugly marks2) no fridge in the room3)bathroom has bad odour4) in breakfast area- plates had ugly marks; no glasses to have coffee or water; 5) tv not working- none of the channels are working 6 booked a king bed and shocked that they joined 2 single beds and clearly sad state7) swimming pool not functional Wonderful property BUT everything else sucks

Very well designed property. Location, comfort is good. Svatma was on my bucket list for a long time due to some good feedback, but I didn't experience anything great. Had much higher expectations on hospitality. It is a good choice for a day or two, as there aren't many traditional options in this area.

Hospitality. Staff is hard working, but guest relations is not great. Breakfast options weren't really enticing.

Internet did not work in the lounge area of our Millennium suite.

This is top class stuff in terms of interior design and decoration. The welcoming ceremony is fun. Staff are always on hand to attend to every need. Spa / massage is a must. Breakfast is good.

Wifi is annoying with always having to log back in or to get a new little paper slip with access codes. Other hotels in southern India have this provider and it really is not good. They should look for a different provider. The rooms have small windows so natural light is scarce. The dinner menu is diverse but nothing really jumps out as a signature dish. All in all for the price everything should be perfect but they fall short in some areas. That equates to the establishment being overpriced.

The property was beautiful.....lovely decor and ambience.....everything about its appearance exceeded my expectations. Loved the room and the exterior space. Everything i would want for the Tanjai Vibe in Tanjavur. Close to the temple too and that was perfect.

Sadly, the hotel just never picked up calls nor reply mails weeks before....booked early and had mailed and even tried calling them days ahead to book slot for foot massage. No response. And sadly, on check in when asked all slots were taken up and did not suit my itinerary. As a foreigner, i always look forward to the traditional welcome on arrival. Wish the girl doing the rituals wore a traditional costume and had a smile on. Svatma is a beautiful property....you need to check on your service quality.

It’s a bit out of the way but you can get a taxi or auto to the sights. Food was nice and reasonably priced. Be aware that the restaurant will put a bottle of water on your table and then charge you Rs 245 for it! That’s pretty expensive water for India.

Nice heritage property. Close to the temple.

Pool was out of service. Food was mediocre.

The decor, food, reception, and staff.

Leaky health faucet, sink not draining properly. The handle of kettle gets dangerously hot when boiling water. Bath walls and glass doors need a thorough wash to remove evidence of grime.

Modern yet heritage property with excellent staff, excellent food. Rooms are quite spacious and the detailing to showcase heritage designs are mind blowing. Very well thought, well maintained property and the food is to die for.

Nothing major, however a feedback - this property boasts a lot of local experiences and I felt it wasn’t advertised enough for people who would like to witness it. Even the facilities for that matter, we had to explore everything on our own.

The successful triumphs of keeping our heritage rather than just money-making business we liked most. Svatma allocated vast space with vegetation and natural feeling for tranquillity but didn't mind using the space to make money. That's the idea that makes this hotel into sanctuary peaceful home. Please keep it up for our forthcoming visits ? ? ♥️.

The most expensive and most neglected and DIRTY hotel on our trip.The hotel is an old villa and could be very nice - if anybody cared.The entrance is atmospheric in the evening ( light and water on only 5 minutes for arrivals)Also the pool is unique.

The restaurant has a smell of a stale buffet food and so it is: cold and bland , prepared for group travelers , as they will eat anything. The staf were nice, gave us a table outside and warmed up and generally improved the food somewhat.The entire place has not been cleaned in years. Under the bed bottle caps and inches of dirt. Our dirty room had a terrace, empty of any furniture, dirty, lights not working, full of bird droppings. In the bathroom, the floor has to be stripped as just cleaning is not possible anymore, the shower screen had not been cleaned since installation. The cleaners are boys from the village, not trained and supervised. I hate to see what the kitchen is like. Relais and Chateau should be ashamed to have an hotel like this in their chain..

We stayed at Svatma Tanjavur for two nights (Jan 20 and Jan 21, 2024). We were on vacation for the first time in India in a decade and we had an outstanding experience at Svatma. The hotel's ambience was outstanding and exquisitely beautiful. Everything was exceptional—from the hotel's location; to the room quality, cleanliness, and amenities; to the outstanding breakfast buffet, lunch, and dinner; to the bar; and to the professionalism and hospitality of the staff in every department. Please kindly let all of your staff know how much we enjoyed our stay, and how much we appreciated their prompt services and superb hospitality. Food was fantastic. We had all meals in the hotel and enjoyed each one of them. Service was very good. The hotel gives you a very nice and warm feel. My sister stayed in this hotel a few years ago and again this time. She said that they have maintained their high standards, which is wonderful.

looks a tad tired . Pool etiquette has to be strictly enforced . unacceptable behaviour of the guests.
