Tanjore Hi Hotel

Very nice Hotel, still in the process of being renovated, very quirky, but in a good way, the staff was fantastic. Will definitely consider it again, I feel that the price was a bit steep

Did not have hot water the first day, need to add an elevator and improve access for the elderly and handicapped, also need to add more windows to allow for natural light

Lighting in the bedroom could have been better because they couldn't find replacement bulbs for the beside lights

There’s no parking, the bed is super uncomfortable, the rooms are super cramped, there’s no hot water and the whole online persona created doesn’t match with reality

This place is an amazing combination of a heritage building with modern architecture. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. I would not have needed a tub, but it was good to use as a shower. Good quality materials everywhere, including fresh bedlinens and towels. There are many beautiful public spaces where you can sit, including a terrace that I particularly loved. I never had breakfast there, but two nice and unpretentious homecooked dinners. Bonus: drinking water dispensers everywhere, so you do not need to use plastic bottles for once! Nice and helpful staff. Also: perfectly situated near the palace.

Traffic and no parking

Good location for visiting royal palace and big temple in Thanjavur. Room was clean and spacious, but only very basic facilities. Staff were welcoming and kind.

Shower was cold. Breakfast wasn't the best. Restaurant wasn't open at all during our stay.

It was all excellent.

The decor and the amenities were comfortable. It is in the heart of the town and very close to the Fort and the Big Temple.

There is no faucet in the rest room. No towels were provided. There were no door mats or bath mats. We were not told there was no restaurant on site. We had to order food from outside through apps. The rooms are very dimly lit. There is a revolving stair case which some might find uncomfortable and despite our mention that our group had a senior citizen, no mention of this hardship or that there is no lift / elevator. They didn't even check for ID and that to me was very surprising.

We try to find heritage hotels in India. We found Tanjore Hi in Thanjavur which has the heritage quality of an old house but with the flair of a boutique hotel. It’s a special place. And for practicalities, the room was large with high ceilings, hot water readily available for showers or bath and all clean. We had a good meal on the upper floor restaurant which is spacious and full of light. Beautiful open design. Highly recommended. Owner and staff are very attentive and helpful. It’s a short walk to the Royal Palace - don’t miss the art galleries there - and shortish tuktuk ride to the Brihadeeswara Temple.

Tanjore Hi Hotel is value for money as the room is a good size and there is a large bathroom with walk in marble shower

My friend thought everything could have been cleaner. There was an exposed wire on the edge of the mattress. Upstairs there was an large room which was very underused and could have been a decent place to hang out in bad weather.

The only thing good about this property was the person who served us supper and breakfast

This property was nothing like the description given.The upstairs restaurant was pathetic the outdoor terrace upstairs did not exist.In short instead of spending two days at this property we left after one

Heritage home .Comfortable size rooms. very close to tourist area.

No water kettle , no in-house restaurant. Parking is limited and need to park in the roadside.

It's a really interesting old house with a lot of character. The rooms were pretty dark but spacious and cool. Comfortable beds and a bathtub in our room which was a nice change from showers (has shower fitting over bath). Drinking water available from glass bottle & big dispenser instead of endless small plastic bottles. Very near the old Thanjavur Palace, within the old part of the city, fairly convenient for tea, restaurants & shopping.

Not everything worked perfectly - the bath/shower tap handle was loose & fell off a couple of times, and toilet flush needed resetting to stop continually filling. It's not perfect, but we liked the atmosphere and character of the place.

Ver nice maintained building, clean and spacious rooms, very friendfull staff. Also very nice diner. Good location
