Pros +
- The property is indeed a unique place to stay. It is part of a big house and the rooms have been modified to suit the requirments of travellers. The room is quite big with a old fashioned cot which really adds to the charm of the room. The staff, consisiting of two boys were very helpful. The parking of the car has to be on the road in front. Since it is a quiet neighbourhood parking is quite safe. The breakfast was yummy. Idli, dosa, pongal with chutney, sambaar etc. All in all I would say value for money.
- The location was spot on and within a few kilometers from most of the attractions [especailly The Big Temple]. It was also close to a vegetarian restaurant 50 meters that is very highly rated and a fab place. We had most of our meals at that location.
- Tanjore inn is located in a quiet residential street, little traffic noise but proximity to the train station means train horn will be audibly loud, enough to disrupt sleep because of night train.Facility is good, decently spacious room with good ac and hot water, shower with piddly stream. No nearby restaurants except for a vegetarian place serving traditional Tamil foods. Good value
Cons -
- Availability of hot water for bath etc could be improved.
- The room was too cosy. Just about enough space to have a couple of bags in the room. There was no ventilation and it was quite stuffy. Could not open the windows as the mosquitoes would have made a meal of us.
- First, It’s not a 4 stars hotel. May be a 2 stars, being very generous. The room has small windows, really very small up on the floor. The bed has only one sheet, but not the second one used to cover the body. There is a very little space for luggage. The bathroom is very basic. They put two balls of camphor in the lavatory probably to cover the bad smell. The shower is not separated from the rest of the bathroom. When you take a shower, there is water everywhere. Even the support for toilet paper is not properly attached to the wall. When I made the reservation it was shown a final price in rupees. When I paid they added the GST. Just before paying my Booking reservation shows the correct price. When I asked for the bill, the price changed. I show the older price to the reception guy, but he insisted that it was like that. I also show that even for a new reservation through Booking, it’s not currently specified that they will add GST. To go downtown you need a taxi or a tuk tuk.

If you are looking for a 1-2 stars hotel, than is ok. For a 4 stars, look elsewhere

Nil
Congested room, no food facility, no breakfast facility.
Very comfortable place to stay with family. Here are the PROs and CONs:PROs:1. Spacious room2. Clean 3. Staff available to serve on call4. Centrally located in Tanjore city5. Big Temple is walkable (1.5 km)CONs:1. No closed or covered car parking. Had to park the car on the road. But very less vehicular movement in the area. So, manageable.2. Only one chair in a room. So, we always have to sit on the bed only.
We did not have Breakfast as we had to move out early
We gave feedback to improve the amenities in the toilet which were not meeting the standard of a good hotel
Beautiful Place.... well kept, neat and clean...
Breakfast was good, options could be better or different, little more emphasis on the local cuisene would be great! Although it was South Indian b'fast but local Tanjore delicacy would be great!!
spacious rooms
fan in centre of of room. neither of beds receives air as both beds at extreme end.no mineral water.
Convenient to the temple, but in a quiet area about 2 km away. The staff was attentive. There is an excellent restaurant next door for south Indian food. The staff at the restaurant speaks English. They offer a sampler dinner for tourists.
cleanliness, pleasantness of staff
not efficient, poor management of facilities, no hot water.
Warm welcome from very friendly, helpful staff. The room was a little basic but perfectly adequate for an overnight stay and not at all expensive. The hotel is located on a quiet street but is very central. There is an excellent restaurant a few metres away with a very helpful owner who speaks perfect English.
The shower did not actually work.
Staffs were friendly and approachable
The room was veryy small and was really suffocating for me. I had to forcefully open the door or window if I need fresh air or light from outside. The sofas kept outside my room was dirty. I seriously didn't expect this small room with no aeration.not at all worth for the money. worsttttttt
Very clean, big room and friendly staff.
Lovely building, very tastefully decorated with art and artefacts. Gives the feel of a heritage hotel. Great loation and good connectivity to tourist attractions. The staff, Arvind, Selvam are cheerful and extremely helpful. They will help for transport, taxi or auto if asked. We had a lovely outdoor seating space opening into a garden, which was a solace. Do not miss the neighbouring (practically next door) restaurant serving traditional, organic native cuisine and a very engaging owner.
The room we stayed was downstairs and requires a definite upgrade. For 3500/- per night, we got a space that you can hardly move about, huge but unkempt bathroom with leaky taps and bidets, stained toilet and wash basin, dirty door mats and cheap blankets. The outdoors do not match the indoors at all. All it takes is small basic steps to make this better. Our only escape from this claustrophobic space was the outdoor space and garden which we used to the extent possible. If the above are taken care of this is a place that I would definitely consider coming back to.
The location is perfect and it is easy to access the big temple as well as excellent restaurants closeby. I enjoyed my stay immensely. The staff is kind and super helpful. Breakfast is delicious
Bathroom facilities can be better with hand soap, tissue, wet and dry area. Also better blankets can be provided. The room can come with complimentary coffee in the morning
Wonderful staff, very hospitable. Arvind, Lokesh and Selvan made us feel welcome and provided all support with a smile. We had a very pleasant experience and did not have to remind them for anything. All our requests were met without any hassle and promptly. Breakfast also was excellent and filling!
Toilet seat could be fixed of the same size as the bowl. Otherwise, the facilities were very clean. Also, toiletries could be provided so that we do not need to carry it from home
The property is a house furnished with antique pieces exuding an oldworld charm. The rooms are spacious and clean, the locale calm and convenient and the staff helpful. There is a restaurant two doors away serving manpanai food(millets etc.. traditional food). The complimentary breakfast was tasty and well served. Would definitely stay here again/ recommend to friends.
Absolutely amazing hotel with wonderful staff. They let us check in significantly early as we reached Thanjavur just after sunrise.I went there with my daughter and in-laws. One young chap working there was really nice, friendly and professional.Unfortunately he wasn't there for our departure, which made us feel really bad as I wanted to thank him and give him a big tip. If you're reading this, thank you for being so nice. The location is excellent. The hotel is very close to the beautiful temple. Breakfast was very good.Really beautiful Heritage hotel. Huge beds and room size. I would definitely recommend.
