Mysore county retreat

I liked the place prior to ownership change. After the name changed from country inn to county retreat, the place has been run down significantly.

Poor upkeep, everything was mediocre and barely functional. Starting from main Door handle, WiFi, bathroom toiletries, linen, fixtures etc. was broken, or subpar or simply not working.

Room is tidy and neat

The shower pipe was broken, and I had an unpleasant bath. Also, the corridor carpet had a very bad smell.

The look and feel of the property was nice

No proper internet, it was dead slow and when I raised it with the reception, we have informed our IT lead was the answer. Turns out some event was happening and everyone were busy with that. The TV also not working, atleast some guy came and tried couple of replacement boxes but still didn’t work. I tried change the room, but the guy in reception was like “you’re staying for a night right? No other room available”. I felt like they didn’t even care for people who stay just for a night. I was doing break of journey as I was driving long day and have to drive long way next day. But this way if treat was very bad. I checked out within 3 hrs and I booked better one.

Breakfast is OK but not satisfied.

Started without a welcome drink and waited for cleaned rooms to check in.No cleaned towels and bedsheets are very old.Moreover rooms are very very small compared to ordinary hotels.There is a swimming pool but no maintenance,no cleaned wash rooms,no cleaned towels even though there is no one to ask anything.Coming to food: Breakfast is OK but not satisfied,all the items in Lunch are without salt & Chilli.curd smells like shit.Pulao rice is only with whole bean and bean lentils. But the prices are at the 7 Star hotel range.On Sunday,lot of times power fluctuations and power failure,really this one I have never seen in whole hotel life.

Bad experience

No proper cleaning.Opened the room fridge and found food from previous guests inside. Same had fungus and smelling.Power went off and the back up did not come on for a long time.

The location is suitable. However, this property did not do justice to its earlier fame. Given the price difference, I expected it to be average.

The bed was uncomfortable. The AC was struggling in the middle of the night. The breakfast was mediocre at best.

Cleanliness needs attention

Breakfast was good. The rooms were nice and clean.

Coffee was not good for breakfast .One day, housekeeping forgot to put cups in our room. It took us 40 minutes and multiple follow ups to get the mugs to have tea. Another time housekeeping kept only 1 bath towel and it took us 45 minutes and multiple follow ups to get the second towel. In-room dining was usually prompt except one time when the milk for our daughter came after 30-40 minutes and multiple follow ups. Apparently, they had delivered the milk to another room.

Good property, great facilities.

Breakfast menu was good, but the property was not prepared to handle the rush. People were great, but severely understaffed.

Food was good and the staff were very courteous

THe hotel is understaffed and the rooms were looking worn out. Broken furniture, and looking used up. The rooms require an overhaul. Too much noise from the outside and from other guests in the aisle. The rooms are not sound proof. Essentials are often to be asked every time.

Spacious room

I paid 22k INR for 2 rooms for a day , it's old building, Without reason Front desk staff behaviour was very rude , Never seen a single smile or pleasant face on her face , Name was Nil GiRi , Management can check the CCtV for verification purpose , They showing their frustration towards clients, another issue there was displayed Breakfast starting from 6:30 , We have to travel to Ooty so we go to restaurant early 7:00 am .unfortunately nothing was ready I check with the guy who was in-charge , first he is ignored my request so I make small drama I told him I'm an YouTuber I will recored the things and upload the video on social media , Suddenly he start responding and and accept my request for Live omlet , for revenge they put more salt on the omelet and showed their frustration, Management can check everything on CCTV.

outskirts, reasonable, pleasant

bad buffet spread. bad inroom food dining, badly maintained hotel.

Good rooms, good gym, nice dinner buffet spread.

Staff is not very professional, they need some training. We took 5 rooms and 1 room was not available till 5 pm during check-in. Room A/C was too cold and there was no option to make it warmer. Switching off the A/C made the room stale. Curd served during dinner and breakfast was really bad, it was too sour and inedible.

Room keeping not done well. Pool area not maintained. Breakfast quality and food very poor. No proper child play area, drainage issues in bathroom, water coming out

We have stayed here before as well. The location is good, away from the busy city.

The maintenance has gone down drastically over the last few years!!When we checked in one of the table lights was not working. One of the kettle was not working. Got few of the requirements had to call multiple times as the response action was not happening on time.

Dining area staffs are good and helpful

worst front desk i ever seen. AC not working in my room in the entire stay & they provided table fan but not ready to change the room.Duty manager not reachable and dirty swimming pool. Hair dryer and tv not working.overall pathetic experience in our stay in this worst hotel.staffs are not motivated to do any basic work or help for customers is a big negative

Nothing to like.

Everything is so bad at this hotel. They don't keep the toiletries, they don't clean the room daily. If we ask only they will do it. Managers are soo rude and food is pathetic. Nighy at 2am fire alarm is making noise when called reception they have no idea about fire alarm. Manjunath is the worst ever in management so far I have seen. I stayed for 10 days, after 4 days, they insisted to book directly from them instead of booking through booking.com. I booked with them and they harrased me for the payment even after telling I'll make the payment on Monday when they asked on Sunday. Just for one day, they literally harrased me.

Bad

The a/c stopped working at around 3.30 -4.00 a.m. the technician came and said it will start in half an hour but it never did. similarly the same thing happened the next day. also the restaurant was it kept tidy

The location of the hotel, restaurant staff were hospitable

Too pricey for the quality of the hotelFor the same price, you get fantastic hotels around. I guess the hotel just took the advantage of being the only hotel in that area.Wifi stopped working the second day.No Uber or Rapido available frequently in the areaInitiatlly the hotel management said they could help with rental services but when we checked in, they said they dont have any such optionThey charged buffet for kid as well even though when they knew he was accompanied with two adults.Receptionist did not even bother to consider the request of removing the charges. She didnt care!Food was just okay

Nothing at all

The Hotel is rated 5 star and it does not match the rating at all. Many places look dirty and shabby. Definitely not a 5 star as rated. The towels are dirty, the tiles in the bathroom floor are broken, menu available but no mini bar, fridge dirty, not enough towels, no dental kits, bad ordinary soap and shampoo. The lobby smells bad with no AC etc etc etc
