    Pros +

    • The staff were fantastic, the location was fab for seeing wildlife (orangutan) so close to our Lodge.. The food was very good too
    • Good location, and friendly staff. Rooms are nice and in a beautiful setting.
    • I stayed in a dormitory. It was clean and tidy. The breakfast buffet is reasonably decent, high in carbs for visitors to build on energy for the long hikes/walks.

    Cons -

    • The plunge pool needed a good clean, green "scum" on walls & floor of pool. To be fair it could be due to foul age nearby by water felt silty. Shower by pool for folk to use before they go in may help.
    • Restaurant was expensive and the breakfast was disappointing and mediocre. Shower is not hot but rather lukewarm. For the price of accommodation I was expecting more.
    • I would prefer for the resort to include vegetable/salad in the breakfast buffet.I wish they would kick out guests with fraudulent and unruly behaviour as soon as that is detected. At the resort, I got to know someone through my dormitory mate by the name of Kipras Vazalinskas who exhibited extreme fraudulent and unruly behavior. I invited him to go on the Kabili trail out of sympathy as he was sitting alone and had previously asked my dormitory mate for company who had left the country by then. The fees for the Kabili trail includes the entrance fees for kabili and rdc, and the ranger fee of 200 ringgit. The idea was the only do the kabili trail which means we return to RDC. When I invited him, I told him he just needs to pay the entrance fees, no need for the ranger fee.The start of the hike was fine, even though he walked slow, it was fine by me and I was nice about it. His true colors surfaced Abit when he wanted to take a boat back instead of walking back to RDC on the Kabili trail, to see the fishing village. The price of originally 120riggit was kindly brought down to 75 ringgit for 3 persons ( myself, Kipras, and our guide), to which initially Kipras refused to cover the guide's boat transport and only his own. I explained to him that we should pay for the guide as it was not part of the plan. It is not even part of the 200 ringgit fee I paid. After explaining to him, he agreed to we split the cost for the boat and transport back from the fishing village to accomodation.Prior to this, The guide has even kindly lent us his binoculars to which Kipras held onto tightly and never once offered to those around him if they wanted a chance with the binoculars. It was the same binoculars that went down with him in salt water when he fell into the water at the fishing village.

The breakfast was good, out in the open yet sheltered. The staff were all off the charts amazing - we loved them!!! The area is surrounded by jungle and forest, and we had an orangutan decide to hang out at our chalet a couple days to eat fruit off the tree in front of our place. The concierge / front desk was helpful in arranging taxis for us. I can't rave enough about this place!

The only negative was that Grab drivers during the day do not want to leave the area, as there are many tourists that want to go to the main attractions.

What fully exceeded our expectations was a staff member Nikki! On our last day she used her connections to secure a transfer from Sepilok to the yacht club (a 45 minute drive without traffic) for us to barely make it in time for our boat connection. We had assumed Grab would be easy to book there and it was not. The rest of the staff were thoughtful and the grounds are beautiful.

Perhaps warn us about the need to precook important connections.

Lovely resort and tasty breakfast. I stayed in the dorm, which was very comfortable, clean and quiet.

The pool is really only suitable for children as it’s extremely shallow.

    9ColtonPosted on: 10-14-2025

Breakfast had a handful of options with some local items and English breakfast styled options. Tasty and plenty to eat.

Pool wasn’t cleaned one of the days there but was still nice.

We love the food, location and views. The chalets were luxuries and definitely felt rustic in the jungle. A great mix. We were able to bird from our porch and the restaurant.

It was a little farther of a walk from the main things and the RDC. Food was much more expensive than other places and portions were smaller. But the quality was unmatched.

    10ErvinPosted on: 9-28-2025

Proximity to sanctuary, hotel design, friendly staff

They could have more Asian and local food options instead of western food

    4MarcelPosted on: 9-19-2025

Do not stay in the dorm unless you really need too.

Dorms without AC are boiling hot. Theres no Wifi in the dorms. The only way to get water is to buy overpriced bottles at the restaurant.

    10PalomaPosted on: 9-16-2025

Very tasty, clean, multiple choices. Everything was delicious!

Maybe, it was no many options of transportation.

Stunning surrounding forest. You wake up to the beautiful sounds of the birds and can see them from your own porch. Perfect accommodation nestled amongst nature. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is amazing for its relaxing natural atmosphere along with an expansive deck to unwind from a busy day and meet other travellers. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the Sepilok elephant and sun bear sanctuaries or if you’re in a rush, a 2 minute Grab ride. I stayed in a private little chalet and it was perfect. I had the cutest black squirrel that would hang out in the tree outside my back porch.

+ every problem got solved + comfy beds+ great location+ beautiful premises+ friendly staff+ amazing menu for dinner or juices+ kitchen prepared me a little extra for breakfast since there were little GF options

    - dorm: upon arrival broken lamp, locker at bedside closing soso, bathroom door not locking properly- hole in mosquito window of dorm but they said they would fix it - quite a few mosquitoes inside at night

    9AndrewPosted on: 9-11-2025

As the name suggests, the hotel blends in with the edge of the forest. The sounds of the jungle are always there, and you are surrounded by lush gardens. There is a walk within the hotel grounds that takes you right into the jungle. It is more of a trek than I had anticipated and I enjoyed walking it several times. The staff are always very attentive and friendly. We planned 2 excursions with the front desk, and both went smoothly. The restaurant serves delicious food, although it is definitely skewed for a western clientele, at the expense of more locally authentic options. The Aircon in the chalets is very welcome.

The chalets are a bit small.Maintaining the gardens requires a lot of strimming which can kill the idyllic vibe for an hour or two.The chalet bathroom has a weird lo-tech concrete plumbing system, which is charming initially but then becomes annoying.

Room is very clean and of a good size. We had a nice balcony facing a lake. The outside shower is interesting and something new to try.Dinner is delicious. Breakfast (included in the room rate) is ok and with limited choices.Staff is very nice and helpful.

Location is slightly farther from town.Bathroom is connected to the outside through the window and can be very humid.

Lovely setting and amazing restaurant staff

In rainforest , good dinner but limited choices anf breakfast basic , sl cold and anf limited non savoury choices

    9ClarkPosted on: 8-28-2025

This resort is very convenient to the animal, sanctuaries, and is an amazing jungle setting. We stayed in both the dorm style rooms and the chalets. Everything was clean and well kept, the staff was friendly and helped with booking excursions

It would be nice if they added a water bottle filling station in a communal area for those using the bunkhouse. The food at the restaurant was pretty good, although the best food was the pineapple chicken curry!

Perfect location in Sepilok to visit Oarang Oatans , Nose monkeys and rain forest discovery center. Small swimming pool.

    10AlessandroPosted on: 8-13-2025

The proximity to various attractions. The facility was very well-kept. Even though we stayed in a dormitory, it was clean and quiet. The food was good, and the staff was very friendly. I recommend staying more than one night

increase the pressure in the toilets and clean the fans

    8AlicePosted on: 8-13-2025

Beautiful location in the middle of the jungle, with a small swimming pool and nice restaurant

There are only two bathrooms in the dormitories so sometimes we had to wait a bit to use them in the morning. The restaurant was a bit pricey but the food is amazing
