Food was disappointing. Menu was not very interesting and the buffet only bought out when the hotel was nearing full

1. Check in - pretty chaos and do not know how to allocate a room. 2. Room - surprised to see its condition . Simply not suite for hotel .3. Doors -Not closing without smashing it.4. Food - reasonable. 5. Simply that hotel need extensive refurbishing, lost its condition over a time. We came as we stay there 12 years ago , but not again.Only staff is the plus point and they r very supporting and friendly. But front office and mangement is like playing hide and seek with tourists.We dont recommend this hotel to anyone ,its ageing hotel need heavy refurbishing .

Mosquitoes, lizards and so many other insects are in the room and cows are around the corner

Had a great breakfast buffet. Tasty food and a very efficient staff

hope they can provide some solution for the bugs issue.

Rooms AC does not work at midnight & the room has been changed from a triple room to da double room/ some windows are not closing properly. Washroom water is darning to the room because the room floor level is lower than the washroom.

Everything. Dirty, mouldy, run down, unhelpful staff, awful breakfast, horrible room, AC either freezing cold or didn’t work. The pool is grubby, oily and unhygienic. No bath in room no big deal but listed on our booking. Just 2 single beds pushed together. No view of lake. Go elsewhere

The Lakeside was a charming place to stay. Relaxed rooms by the lake. Teaming with wildlife. Monkeys peacocks and loads of other birds. Great setting and staff.

Very unprofessional , they played with online booking till last moment to gt higher rate n no response n last minute said overbooked

The location of the property was really good very easy access to Sri Maha Bodhiya and Ruwanwelisaya

The rooms are below standard, and the washrooms have a strong smell. The hotel itself doesn't look clean, and they don't provide a dental kit. There is no buffet, and the breakfast provided is very simple. If you're booking this hotel, don't have high expectations. The pool doesn't look appealing for swimming either.

Really not worth the value that we paid for it. Old rooms, felt as if they hadn’t been slept in for a while and was a bit dusty. Hotel could really use some repair work.

The welcome and the service that we received were exceptional - unrivalled by any other hotel visited during three weeks in Sri Lanka.The staff were genuinely happy that we were their guest, and they were not afraid to show it. From the moment we arrived, they did everything and more to make sure that we were comfortable.The central courtyard garden lent the hotel an idyllic cosy community feel and allowed us to feel nicely isolated from the bustle of the streets outside.The pool area was scenic, the pool functional, and there were a bunch of sun beds from which to capture the sun as it moved above the tree line.One of us fell ill during our stay. The manager offered to take us to the hospital, assisted us there, and the entire team attended to us tirelessly day after day - including complimentary afternoon tea in our room.Bicycles were available to borrow to get around and see the various fascinating heritage sites - and we'd really recommend using them!Breakfast was predominantly Euro-continental, incredibly generous, and tastier than anything else we had in Sri Lanka outside of 5* hotels.Dinner was tasty too. The menu was diverse and competitively priced. Table service was exquisite.The rooms were comfortable, clean, and secure.The location was great - perfectly situated for exploring town, set back from the road so as to be silent at night, and with quick access to the lake on foot.A beautiful gaggle of peacocks graces the gardens.The hotel arranged our onward travel to Trincomalee in a comfortable car at a competitive price.

TV reception was analogue and poor.

Best hotel in town. They give you bicycles too. Great food, rooms, pool and staff too.
