    Pros +

    • Room, scenery, yogaclass (the yoga teacher was great), away from Alleppey but by the shore of Vembanad so that you saw the Big Board passing by and in the morning the Fischerman.
    • Everything was great. The resort is well located on the lake and charming. The team was very helpful and welcoming. My wife and I like the place a lot.
    • Amazing property with stunning views! It was fascinating to learn the story behind the place we stayed. The Nalukettu at Shantitheeram, originally built in 1928, was relocated from Palakkad in 2015, carefully restored, and now serves as a heritage hotel. The hotel also offers other rooms, but we had the pleasure of staying in the beautifully restored section. One thing that wasn’t clearly explained during booking was the range of activities available at the resort. During our stay, we enjoyed an Ayurvedic treatment (a massage) followed by a 4 PM yoga session focused on relaxation. The swimming pool was lovely, though not too deep, and we also played badminton on the court. There is evening tea at 5pm. The manager suggested we wake up at 6:30 AM to catch the sunrise, which turned out to be a truly special experience. There is also a 7 AM morning yoga session and an 11 AM session focused on breathing techniques, but unfortunately, we couldn’t try the latter as we stayed for only one night. The hotel is not huge, which we loved because it means a lot of personal attention from the staff. This also adds to the sense of space and calmness, making it perfect for anyone looking to relax and recharge. The resort is ideal for exploring and learning about Ayurveda, with beginner-friendly yoga classes and a serene atmosphere.

    Cons -

    • The food came cold from the kitchen and had always to be reheated- which is a no go in Ayurveda (it creates toxines). It was tasty but - for me - not understandable .
    • Portion sizes at the resort could be larger, and while it’s perfect for a short stay, those planning to do many activities might find the options limited after a few days unless they choose to explore outside the hotel. The hotel is 30 min from Allepey
    • There isn’t much around , did walk to another hotel restaurant for a change , but the nearby village didn’t have many facilities for tourists. Personally I found the manager somewhat intense. He was trying to be helpful but I would rather be left to eat food in peace and give anonymous feedback rather than have someone hovering over. They were helpful in arranging transport though.

The heritage room was lovely and spacious. Great swimming pool. Lake views. Amazing food. The women doing the grounds maintenance and cleaning worked so hard and were very friendly

Small but well-managed resort with a great attention to what they profess to do: help you to rejuvenate through ayurweda treatments and healthy vegan food. Rajesh, the manager went out of his way to make this place pleasant.

Small resort, small rooms, waste-deep pool. A good book is a must to endure. Two days was enough for me.

    9ThomasPosted on: 1-7-2025

Quiet, clean, beautiful room, great massage, great view over the lake, swimming pool and food was good.

The manager was a bit pushy, agradable but didn't let you breathe that much ;) but he was nice to organise a nice cake for my girlfriend's birthday and for that I just can thank him!!!

Super friendly staff that goes the extra mile. The resort is at the shore of lake vembanad. You can either book a Ayurveda package with them (and stay for a couple of days), or book only a view treatments. It's a great location for those looking to relax. You can do boat rides directly from the resort, or explore the surrounding area.

The resort just opened recently, so some processes weren't 100% up and running perfectly yet. But they do their best to give you an incredible experience.

All of the food was outstanding. Every meal was different and well balanced and we learned so much about the variety of tastes and textures of Indian cuisine. The communal dining room is perfect to meet and chat to fellow travelers. The staff were amazingly professional and attentive, and we felt very well taken care of throughout - especially as they managed to accommodate us for an extra two nights at short notice. We stayed in 2 rooms while there: the first was one of the original 100-year-old rooms which had a gorgeous lake view and was all dark paneling; the second was a newer room which was spacious and beautifully appointed. The situation on the lake is perfect for peace and quiet but also good for reaching the beach, local shops, the backwaters and the airport (everything is between half an hour to 3 hours away).

I wish we could have stayed longer!

I had a really nice experience while staying 2 nights at the resort. Yoga sessions during the day are provided and I didn’t miss any.The garden is beautiful and the whole place is very relaxing. The staff 10/10 and made the experience very enjoyable. Specially the manager who was very kind and attentive. He made every guest in the resort feel very welcomed.I wish I stayed more night and I would definitely come back if I’m in India again.

    Nothing to complain about tbh!

Great ambience, overlooking the Vembanad lake. Very tasty vegetarian food, great massage, beautiful boat ride and great hospitality. Really enjoyed the stay

Lovely peaceful place by the lakeside , peace and quiet after time in Cochi and Thekkady . We relaxed by the pool and went out on a boat trip arranged from the resort . Helpful and calming.

As a health retreat the food was entirely vegan which we are not but they were super helpful and even drove us to the nearest bar / restaurant which was great

    Cleanliness, staff, rooms, breakfast

Prices for lunch/dinner are expensive for what is available.

Location, the food was amazing, tranquility, ambiance, staff was very prepared & the doctor was available (special thanks to Ayurvedic practitioner Asha!), treatments, view, basically 10/10

Staff being followed around by manager to check on them when interacting with guests seemed odd for how competent they were

I don’t know where to begin describing my incredible stay at shantitheeram: the serene ambiance that melts away all stress, the incredibly friendly and attentive staff who take care of you round the clock, the amazing Ayurveda treatments and massages provided by doctor and therapists who address every need and beyond. And the food...!!! Yoga by the lakeside while listening to the sound of the birds and watching fishing boats glide through... And most importantly, the unbelievable sense of calm and relaxation that nourishes your soul, allowing you to unwind and smile to yourself... A heartfelt thanks to the Shantitheeram Ayurveda team.

My visit to Shantitheeram on Vembanad Lake was truly fabulous. Despite residing just 50 km away, I had doubts about my booking decision. However, upon arrival, warm greetings and a short guided stroll instantly won me over. Falling in love with the serene ambiance, we savored nutritious and delicious Kerala cuisine. The Ayurveda massage and shirodhara were incredibly relaxing. Impressed by their personalized hospitality, I plan to visit them regularly.

Accompanying my mother to Shantitheeram for a blend of leisure and health benefits, we arrived from North India with high expectations. I'm pleased to say that their team exceeded those expectations. It's a charming boutique hotel with a heritage feel and serene vibes. Their Ayurveda center stood out, offering exceptional service. My mother, who has been suffering from recurring gastic issues has experienced great relief. From hospitality to location, food to recreational options, and the team's attitude, everything was perfect. My heartfelt compliments to the entire team, with special thanks to Sudhir and Raji for ensuring our stay was truly memorable.

Nothing. Only concern is the huge distance from my home city. Look forward to my next visit to this gem of a destination

We stayed at shantitheeram 2 weeks ago. Very nice place. Nice staff. Ayurveda Doctor very expert and therapist very caring. Only vegetarian food. Real relief from my years old digestion problem. Thank you shantitheeram.

We were traveling to Kerala from Singapore and looking for short yet authentic ayurveda rejuvenation package. Shantitheeram proved to be just the right choice. Me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them and benefitted from the ayurveda treatment. Nice rooms, beautiful views, simple food and great ayurveda therapies made every moment cherishable.

We booked Shantitheeram as the images looked impressive. and when we visited the place we were glad that the place in real looked even more beautiful. We were expecting it to be only an ayurveda centre but Shantitheeram turned out to be a lot more fun than that. Everything was commendable - be it the doctor, the therapists, the staff, food or the amenities. The serene location is an icing on the cake.

    We stayed less days :)

My stay at Shantitheeram Ayurveda was exceptional. The serene lakeside setting provided a tranquil escape. Ayurvedic treatment was rejuvenating, and the local cuisine was both healthy and delicious. The ambience of resort's heritage rooms and the attentive staff made my experience truly unforgettable. Highly recommend for a wellness cum leisure getaway.
