Abby by the river

Location

I cannot rate this hostel any higher due to a major security incident. During my stay, an unidentified man entered our dormitory at night and slept in an empty bed. No staff knew who he was. We only discovered this in the morning, and it was deeply unsettling. The fact that anyone can just wander in and sleep is frightening. I no longer felt safe for the rest of my trip. Management was informed but seemed unsure how to prevent it. I cannot recommend this place if you value your safety and peace of mind.

Staff are super friendly and extremely helpful. A loud shout out to Deen who went an extra mile to help us with purchasing our tickets !!!Greatly appreciate your generous service and kindness!

Strategic place near to many attractive place ...Can walk by distance to gerbang malam, concubine lane, book xcess, time tunnel, Birch memorial clock tower, etc

+Good location+Facilities perfect+smart tv on+fan and ac is good

Overall it covered your basic needs: clean bed, ac, hot shower, electricity/light at each bed, never waited for toilet, nice staff, and there was area with kettle/place to eat....

The location is quite central and close to a lot of the main attractions in Ipoh

Great location, fab view across the river. Near some of the latest street art. V near one of the night street markets. Easy walk into town centre.

The staff is friendly and the room is quite big.

A bit dirty at the toilet, the window got only one and its not functional properly (i guess?)

One of the quirky room we stayed. it has split level. The bed is sort of on a "stage". Love the windows. We get the riverside view which is nice. It was raining cats and dog so we just drove every where.

No parking area to speak of but there is an area near the river which still under cctv of the hotel. ie it is safe to park there however due to the rain we couldn't park there. so we parked a bit further (out of the watchful eyes of the hotel cctv) but it was all good. our car was safe. it was 9 emperor's celebrations - that was night no.5 when we stayed - so it was so loud. at midnight loud firecrackers and hard to sleep. not good if there are chinese festival - noise level is unbelievable. past midnight!

The location is near the Kinta River and some popular coffee shops.

Have a writing table and some proper parking lots.

It is near to city centre.

The rooms are not clean, the bed is tough. There is no security, anybody could freely use the lifts, and go into any rooms, there were no locks.

Spacious room, near food stall and very cheap price in the town of Ipoh even though the place is old

Very friendly staff. We were early for checkin, but staff let us store our luggage, and arranged a cab for us to drive to sights in the area. Bed was good. Nice breakfast place, just over the bridge.

We do not understand why deposit was needed, because in the room already quite a lot was broken. Road was noisy.

Dusty room and flooring had cracks. Room and furniture are dated. Limited parking area which is free on grass patch but payable on designated lots.

The whole place is very run downOur toilet was blocked and didn’t work, when we told the owner they refused to give us a discount so we had to use the communal toilets in the wholeness which were dirty and run down It’s super loud at night as it’s next to a big streetsmell cigarettes in the roomCheck in was not ready at the time it was supposed to be

The colour of the walls can be brighter for the room to look brighter. Shower curtain should be changed as the one in my room was mouldy. The floor was not clean enough for me to be bare-footed on it.

I like the place since it’s near with the town so you can easily find place to eat, hang out.

The room got lots of things that need to renovate like the lamp and aircond, the aircond is leaking, got lots of water on the floor. I guess need a service? The lamp is not function, i mean the bed lamp.

Elevator to all floor. Special parking for my scooter. Rooftop is good place to chill.

Room too crowded. Smelly room. Receptionist didn't mention about rooftop. No free drinks to enjoy.

The hotel is a bit old but it is clean. The hotel location is good and convenient to access the Ipoh old market and plenty of food around, the environment is safe.

One thing is the corridor can smell smoke, I believe ppl around smoking cause the environment to be uncomfortable.
