Hotel Excelsior Ipoh

The Location is very convenient to some of the food and shopping.

The glasses are not cleaned thoroughly. Can see the stained mark on it.

Room is clean and location is good

Car parks exit ramp down road a bit narrow.Opposite restaurant life band noise every night around 9pm-11pm. a bit annoyance

To me nothing went well. Every staff claimed to be trainees and knew nothing. Not helpful at all. Checked out a day earlier without any refund.

Staff attitudes, no customer service. Left a day earlier as we hated our stay at the hotel. Staff at the breakfast were more nicer and friendly.

Great location especially for those people who likes to exercise on their holiday as this is really a center point to walk to all the nice spots!! We had fun while while getting our daily steps!! Room was great and toilet was nice!!

TV channels could have been more, small issue.

Good scenery from the hotel room.

From 8 pm onwards to 10+ pm, live music was too loud and noisy to disturb our sleep. The counter staff changed our hotel room after the issue was raised to them.

The location is away from most interesting places if you're a tourist. About 30 minutes walk from old town. If you're wanting to visit temples or the lost kingdom, its 30 to 40 minutes grab or taxi ride. The room along with the bathroom is large. Bed comfortable and breakfast OK. There is a large shopping mall about 5 minutes walk away.

If you are looking at sleep in, forget it. Everyone talking in the hallway or next room could be clearly heard. We experienced drunks coming early hours of the morning yelling and talking next door. going on for hours Groups checking out early, gathering in the hallway talking loudly for the 3 days we were there. The location is far away from tourist sites. I would not consider staying here again

I've forgotten my deposit receipt, but my identical card was good enough to retrieve my rm50.The Chinese lady at the receptionist was very nice in the morning of 22nd September 2025. I didn't get her name she was wearing a TRAINEE badge, though.

Too pricey for a hotel in a small town.

Hotel Excelsior Ipoh offers a decent location and satisfactory facilities. However, the staff's attitude was somewhat impolite, which detracted from the overall experience. While the hotel itself is fine, customer service could use some improvement.

1. Housekeeping is good.2. Nice view, facing slightly to the North East.3. Convenient location.4. Room is comfortable and aircon is cold.5. Lift access via the room key is a good security measure.

1. Insufficient power sockets at the table. To use the kettle, one has to remove the plug for the table lamp. In any case, if either one is in use, nothing else can be plugged in. There is a "hidden" one beneath the table top but it is too close to it and it can be difficult to plug in some types of chargers which have cables pointing upwards.2. Shower door is difficult to close. If use more force, the glass might shatter.

I was surprised to have been charged RM 30 for the tourism tax. I am a Malaysian citizen!

The location is very near to ipoh parade

We stayed during Ramadan, so the sahur was not up to the expectations. We had better deal elsewhere before this

Room was quite comfortable.

Breakfast was quite bad. Not many choices and fruits were not replenish and not very fresh.

I’d booked a quadruple room since there were 4 people. The room is clean and spacious whereby we can opened all our 4 cabin size luggage which still ample room to walk around.There is a bathtub as well as shower space in the toilet. It’s located in the old town and many eateries within walking distance.The staff is friendly and attentive to our requests such as putting our luggage, gave us suggestions upon our enquiries how to go to our desired destinations etc.

Breakfast is decent. There are few restaurants nearby and also massage centres.

Hotel do not have good staff

Troubling staff

It was a hassle from check-in to check-out. It took almost 30 to 40 minutes to complete the check-in. Staff seems unfamiliar with their own SOPs. The shower drain is clogged, flooding the entire washroom when shower. I requested an official invoice in Booking.com before my stay. None was given until today, even after 1 week had passed. Very unhelpful and dishonest staff. Definitely will not stay again.
