The location. It is connected to a mall, so convenient to eat and shop. I love the view of Bukit Larut as I open the window. Very friendly front desk staff.

Lack of signboard / direction to the lobby. We accidentally took the wrong lift which has the hotel sign on it but arriving at an empty dark hallway, and we arrived late in the evening.. that was a scary moment. And the parking is so isolated and not so well lit, if you arrive in the evening or planning to have an evening out.

Everything about this place is great. Convenient location near restaurants and shopping. The rooms are spacious and have large windows with views of town, the park and hills,.The pool was clean and a great size for laps. The staff were professional and friendly. We will choose this hotel every time we visit Taiping.

Unclear rules. Booked via Booking.com for a smoking room. There was a choice given: smoking or non -smoking. When I registered at the counter, the night receptionist asked me to sign a paper which I thought was registration. She did not inform nor explain that what I was signing was a document that states that the room assigned to me was a non-smoking room, and that if that rule is flouted, I would have to be charged RM500. The staff should have explained clearly. In the booking.com registration there is a choice for smoking or non- smoking rooms. If I had known that all rooms are non-smoking, I would have alerted my son to smoke off the hotel premises. I think reception staff should highlight that and inform to guests upon check-in. I was given the top-most floor room ( 13th floor), and assumed that the highest floor would allow smoking! Some hotels provide such facilities. If I had been reminded earlier, that would be fair and courteous of the hotel. I am most disappointed about this. There should have been a fair warning/advice given to guests upon registration. I have stayed before at Novotel Taiping with my husband. We are senior citizens and we do not smoke. We have stayed at Novotel before in other countries -- Bangkok, Singapore. But this time around at Novotel Taiping, it has been disappointing. If informed upon registration that the room is non-smoking, my son would've smoked outside the hotel. Thank You.

Breakfast was so tastyyyyy and variety. other than that, the room was sooo nice i love it! The room was tidy and clean. Furthermore, from my room i can see Taman Tasik Taiping and it was so beautiful and i love the view so much. I will repeat this staycation in Novotel. But i hope the swimming pool can extand untill 10 pm at night.

Walking distance to Taiping Lake Park, good view, good breakfast, good customer service, next to a shopping center with supermarket.

Nothing really. Perhaps the bedsheets should be scent free.

Reception was a long process. I waited 15 minutes to see a check in agent. No smile. When my credit card was declined and we tried again and also declined I was suggested no funds in my account? (There were no funds owing on the card and a significant sum which could be drawn). I used another credit card. Frankly, I felt embarrassed with my friends. The foyer was freezing. We were tired. No acknowledgement of the length of check in, no apology or voucher. What kind of customer service is this? The food in the restaurant was C grade. Needs attention. Too oily and breakfast buffet often empty. my friend's dinner main course order was forgotten. We had to remind and were then informed restaurant closing. Room walls - we could hear a woman being very vocal about her sexual encounters but we had requested a quiet room. Not supplied and not acknowledged on check in. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody and have stayed at many Novotel in many other locations where the experience has been great.

Asked for a King sized bed instead of 2 beds, it was provided as asked.

The parking area is a bit too high up. Can make the car park look and smell nicer.

Safety deposit box didn’t work. They “fixed” it twice, but it remained unusable.

The hotel was strategically located right in the city center. Room was nice, clean and comfy. Breakfast comes with a lot of choice. The staff was attentive and provided proper guidance for the parking entrance (above the mall). Highly recommended

It could have been better if the hotel indicates which options to be selected for inter-connecting rooms at the point of booking.Alternatively, provides or offers applicable adjustments upon checking in for a more memorable experience.

The rooms were very clean and the services of all the staff were excellent. The hotel facilities are very well maintained.

The directional signs to the hotel car park can be bigger with more signs on the different levels to the car park to show the way in and out at the various levels of the car park.

Staffs are helpful and friendly and attend to my request promptly.

The check in process is very slow, can be improved further.

Good except for the above mentioned incident

One of the two rooms that we booked was for 1 adult & 2 children aged 14 & 12 years. It had one king bed only for 3 people. We had to pay another 70 ringgit per night for 3 nights. The reception staff (man) at the time of the checkin demanded payment of 70 ringgit in cash & refused to give us a receipt. It was only on checking out, that we realised that it was 70 ringgit per night. We paid the extra 140 ringgit by credit card & was given a receipt.This is my third stay in Novotel Taiping. I have also stayed there in previous years. This is the first time I have complained about the place.

The cozy and clean room and bathroom. The soft pillows and soft towels. The clean sheets. The place even smelt clean.

The breakfast was below par.
