Collection O Near Taiping Mall Formerly Axis Hotel

The hotel is extremely quiet. The location could not be more central (about 12 mins walk to the train station/short walk to main attractios). The King size bed was extremely comfortable. The air con was decent, likewise the wifi. Water pressure too. All big ticks.I felt very comfortable staying here and can therefore recommend this place; let's be honest there really isn't much choice in this small town for budget accommodation. And as a contrast to the first receptionist, when I checked out a younger lady was friendly and courteous.

First impressions, to be honest weren't good. However, I can't lie—after settling in I felt very comfortable here and you can't beat the location. So, after being ripped off by a taxi driver for the short ride from the train station (next time, I'll obviously use Grab!) upon checking in I was presented with a very unfriendly and miserable looking female receptionist. Not the best of first impressions for Taiping...I smiled at her, said "How are you?" but received no warm response: I honestly don't understand how people can work as a receptionist in a hotel and lack any basic customer service! Why not work elsewhere—preferably where you don't have to deal directly with customers???Anyways, walking down the dark gloomy corridor to the lift (thankfully working) and upon entering my rather small and shabby room, not the cleanest one I've been in either, I discovered there were no towels. Have I made the right decision coming to Taiping I was starting to ponder.However, once I cleaned the room up abit and unpacked my stuff, I soon settled into it. I left the dirty mirrors alone as I was only staying here for four nights (if longer, I can't stand filthy mirrors so get my wet wipes out). The room has clearly seen better days, that's for sure.

Very dirty and bad smell. Everything was old and had insects on the wall. Bed was very uncomfortable old spring beds . Felt unclean sheets.. never have been to this bad hotel in my life

Staff need to get hospitality training, no smile on face, rude and not even explain about the room properly and confused. Just put the deposit receipt and keys on table and not even tell me which floor and room number. This was my second visit to the hotel and will be last. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone too. First time also faced the same problem, got one aunty in reception I don't know what was her problem was so rude to us.

There is ample public parking space there. Coffee shops are within walking distance. I was plesantly surprised that there is an elevator (lift) to access to the other floors. The elevator is small but at least it beats walking up the staircase. The staff there are friendly.

The air-cond remote was not working even though after replacing the batteries. Luckily the temperature set was bearable. The air-cond blower is noisy from the vibration everytime the compressor starts. If you put your hand on the air-cond cover, the vibration sound will stop. You can hear water flowing from the toilet cistern throughout the whole time.

The room is extremely small for 4 people room. If you bring luggage, then there will be no place to walk inside the room. Luckily, all of us just bring a beg.

Rooms are very small and very smelly. The beds are not comfortable at all. The towels are old and torn. The receiptionist is very rude to the customers. Booked through booking.com but you are not guaranteed to get the rooms!Please book using agoda???
