Pros +
- Position within town. Room was very airy for a one night stay
- The bed was comfortable and shared amenities were clean and sufficient.
- The room was fine
Cons -
- My room was windowless and the bed was made with sheets only - I asked for a blanket as I find it hard to sleep with just a sheet. They only had doonas and it was high-summer so I didn't accept that. Ended up having to use towels as a covering. Tip: invest in a few light summer blankets - not everyone will want one, those who ask for them will be happy.
- The bathrooms weren’t clean, the corridors had peeling paint, dirt and leaks in the ceiling.
- Blood stained bed sheets, dirty bathroom, rotting ceilings, loud people late into the night and music

Avoid, disgusting, not worth $95 a night

WE WEREN'T OFFERED BREAKFAST AND WE LEFT EARLY
that we were the furthest away from the toilet and showers. And they had only 1 shower and 1 toilet. We also accidently locked ourselves out of the room and could not find anyone to help us open the door at 7am even though I knocked on what I thought was the owner's door 4 times. We had to wait till the cleaner turned up about 8 - 8.30am, and I was sitting on the verandah in my pyjamas and no shoes on.
The bed sheets, and pillows were good quality.
The images weren't what we were provided. Perhaps it could have been that we didn't know there was an upgrade option. There was little to no room around the bed no storage area. I think a bar fridge was provided. But overall it would be a get you by kind of place. Separate and share bathroom and toilet was what we were offered.
Comfortable,close to food venues etc
The outside back door seperate to the room door was inaccessable from the outside .I could have been locked out had the bar not been open. I possibly should have been supplied a key for that outside door as well.
The location served my purpose on this occasion, not much else!
Overpriced for what is provided. Shared bathroom facilities need to be cleaned daily; don't think they were cleaned at all during my stay!
On behalf of my parents stay. Nothing positive about the stay at all. They were in shock!
The rooms and entry to the rooms looked like a junk shop. Staff said the kitchen was out of order due to a recent roof collapse so no option for dinner or breakfast. They then found out the roof collapse was years ago!! The station master at the train station (the reason why my parents stayed at this hotel) was embarrassed and apologised on behalf of Proserpine! Not good!
I like the big bed and nice staffs
There is cockroach dead in the room. And the first room had the used towel hung on the door, the water bottle left in the fridge and the hairs on bed. Not sure how they clean the room. Maybe it was the rush but why have to rush ?
Great location, friendly staff and big rooms. Both rooms and bathroom area was kept really clean and had everything we needed.
Nothing it fully met my expectations for the price.
The location was very convenient for the train station if moving in to Cairns as the Queensland explorer stops there.
The shared bathrooms, there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The rooms had no windows for ventilation, however there was an air conditioning unit on the wall that worked. The sink in the room was old and needed replacing, it would have been good to have a hot and cold tap on the sink in the room to be able to wash in the room rather than the shared bathroom. The shared bathroom facilities were poor due to two of the communal toilets out of order. However the showers and one working toilet were clean. The towels provided were clean. The beds were clean and adequate. The door to the room was poorly fitted. The noise from the bar below was rather disturbing which made it difficult to sleep. Overall the hotel could do with a full refit. It served our purpose as we were only there overnight were moving on the next morning by train which was a very short walk away.
No restaurant.
No Paper towels in shared bathroom. Only one toilet working. Shower not great. Fan only had one speed fast.
I found it very special to stay in this truly authentic historical hotel. Spacious bedroom, big timber post bed, extra rattan settee and armchair, high ceilings, beautiful polished timer floor, bedroom door opened to first floor balcony, all this created a memorable Australian experience.
Had good aircon
Advertised with ensuite, but common showers. Noisy and no restaurant.
Central to everything
For a pub room in a small town it was very expensive and there was no milk had to get the manager as bar staff wouldn’t to get some milk for coffee in the morning
Not much
No toilet in room. No unsuited in room. No chairs or table in room. No bedside lamps in room.
Good location, clean and comfortable
Good value, stayed one night. Shared kitchen facilities were very good. Bed comfortable. Restaurant was closed for renovations, Chinese restaurant next door was excellent.
Shower head in ladies shower needs to be replaced.
Good location, huge parking lot at the rear entrance, well equipped kitchen, the room is ok
The toilet and shower little bit far from part of the rooms and no space for personal stuff while you in the shower
