What a beautiful place! We enjoyed walking through the building and discovering all the different areas and architecture. Staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly. To the kind man at reception who lent my son scissors on two occasions to trim a bandage: Thank you :). Parking was easy and spacious. Bathrooms / toilets were immaculate. We had dinner in the restaurant and someone was playing the piano during dinner service.
Loved everything about this place! Old hotel but had all the comforts you need for a non-city break. Rooms are spacious, with mini fridge and big bathrooms with super hot water! They have a billiards area that’s open all night and is free. Staff service is so amazing they make you feel like you are old friends. Location is steps away from hop on hop off bus and all the local restaurants. Coles is less than 5min walk away too.
NothingNo microwave in the room but that’s minor.
I loved the Carrington Hotel for its majestic heritage and royal charm. The beautifully preserved interiors and elegant exterior create a timeless ambience that feels both grand and welcoming.
What I didn’t like was that several sofas were not well maintained and had visible dirty marks from regular use. Also, the front garden facing the road needs better maintenance, even though it is a publicly accessible area.
It was a perfect location for exploring the Blue Mountains and just relaxing. I stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the large porch and comfortable room. It’s a wonderful old hotel that is close to everything and only a short walk from the train station. They even made adjustments to get me in my room early when I arrived after a long flight. I was well taken care of and will definitely stay there again when I return.
Location. Perfectly central!Beautiful historic building.
Creaky floorboards early in am
Location, the downstairs has been refurbished very nicely, the staff were friendly.
Had a meal in the main dining room, the entrees were very nice, unfortunately both our mains (duck l'orange and braised lamb) were not up to the standard we expected for the price. Had 2 house red wines in the bar on the Sunday, (OK it was a Sunday) but 2 house reds for $52 ?? The lift is intermittent and the door very heavy to open.
Located in Katoomba with great access to the Blue Mountains attractions
Private bathroom outside the room
Grand hotel steeped in history in a fabulous location with comfy beds, luxurious shower and the best breakfast.
The location is central with secure undercover parking available for guests. The hotel is simply georgeous, dripping with history and decked out in fantastic art-deco style decor. The room was large, the bed comfortable and the staff were friendly.
I thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Location and old world charm of the hotel...
The bed was way too soft for our liking and work up with a very stiff back and neck.
Carrington hotel is very central, easy to get to even when not driving. The hotel is vintage yet is full of architectural charm and charisma! The room we stayed in was of very reasonable size with space for moving around and enough space for luggage for short stay. Have not tried the spa bath cause no bath salt was provided and we did not think of bring any. Trust that it would have been a relaxing experience!Just wish that the hotel would have orgainsed a variety of activities for stayers, such guided tour of the charming carrington, to bring slayers back to the memory lane of this charming beauty, etc!Carrington hotel is definitely one of the top choices of hotel in Katoombar!
I liked the option for the outside bathrooms for this price point. You have your own bathroom (not shared) which is nice.We love that the hotel has been kept in top condition
Annoying that dining room does not open on Sunday night.Breakfast was a bit underwelming. these days usually have mushroom, sausages , option for poached or fried eggs.I would have liked the option to pay less and not have the hot food.
Very comfortable. Great historical atmosphere. Helpful and friendly staff
Two steps in corridor between lift and our room need a bar to assist less mobile guests; also the two steps up to en suite in our room
Loved the heritage aspect - quite grand and cosy.
The windows are all frosted, as in everywhere. You basically can't see out of the hotel.
Excellent group facilities - a bar and restaurant and cosy lounge room with a fire and plenty of seating Central heating everywhere
No heating thermostat in bedroom, but the windows do open
Central location. Close to the Katoomba Railway Station and restaurants.
Accessibility turned out to be a big problem. Although the website says "Facilities for disabled guests", this hotel is not suitable for the disabled. There is an accessible entrance for the disabled, but it is far from the actual entrance, requiring the visitor to walk quite a distance up hill to get there. That entrance leads to a less than hospitable corridor. The greatest problem is the lift, which is very old and difficult to operate, requiring quite a lot of force to pull open the inner door (manually, as it is not automated), certainly difficult for someone with a walking stick, not to mention one who is in a wheelchair. We heard older though not disabled hotel guests grumbling about that problem too. On the floor between the lift and the rooms, there are still steps to negotiate. In the guestroom there are also steps to climb from the sleeping area into the bathroom. These facts are not available on the website and at the booking stage, too late for cancellation once encountered. Retaining the Victorian architecture and decor does not mean having to forgo modern amenities.
We stayed in a traditional room but had no issue using our designated en-suite down the hall. We loved the communal spaces -the library or the lounge area with the fire. Really added to the charm and the feeling of entering a past era. Loved the stay! Location was great. Close to Pomegranate cafe, train and buses.
