Pros +
- The location of this hotel is great. Being right in the heart of Muswellbrook you can easily walk to Woolworths, shops and cafes if you want. I liked the large screen TV and appreciated the fact that I was able to get the only room with an ensuite bathroom. There is also lots of parking. The food in the hotel is also very nice and not too expensive.
- I had a spacious room with a covered balcony. Nice people watching spot. There are fly screens on the balcony. Nice couches in the room. No keys needed, keypad access. The cleaners do a great job.
- The room was comfortable and the shared bathrooms were very clean. Though over a pub, it was super quiet in my room
Cons -
- You can hear some noise from traffic and the hotel guest's downstairs, but it wasn't super loud just a low hum. This wasn't a problem for me but maybe for some people. There was no table in the room to place a drink, your phone, a book or whatever. So, when watching TV from the bed there was nowhere to place a cup of tea or even a glass of water. And there is not a chair, so you do have to watch the TV from bed.

Most comfortable beds in town and great dinners.
Beer is a bit pricey
The room was clean and had been newly renovated.
Noise from the hotel came through the window if it was open. The room has been renovated, but there were no side tables or side lights. There were no towel rails.
Nice clean fresh rooms. Good pub & bistro
No FOXTEL in the pub & noisy trains just at the back of the rooms.
Friendly helpful staff, great food, best pub accommodation I’ve stayed in. Comfortable, clean and fresh rooms. Will definitely be staying here again when I travel to Muswellbrook!
Happy with facilities however (no fault of hotel) close to railway line and coal trains noisy at nig
as a fellow housekeeper for another hotel, the room and service is exactly what i like my guests to experience. extremely grateful for the aircon after being out in the sun all day in 37° weather. didn’t have a chance to give the bar or bistro a try, but id definitely like to be back to. the bonus was experiencing my first earthquake (i honestly thought someone was in my room at first when my suitcase fell off of the bed)- so was quite confused there. thanks for the great stay!
The food was excellent. The room was a great size
The shared shower had no water pressure and the soap container did not work or we were not provided with any soap and it was the shampoo dispenser that did not work
Did not have breakfast as location allowed access to great little coffee shop
Shower water pressure and temperature a little lacking
Nothing too noisy and no water in bathroom
Everything noisy not clean and no water in shared bathroom and dirty toilets ….
The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The shared amenities were fine for one night.
Maybe some double glazing on the windows would help, or just clearing out the birds that sound like they are nesting right outside.
On arrival to our king suite we found 4 large cockroaches dead in the enclosed balcony area. The staff were friendly and offered to swap to another queen suite with an ensuite but on opening door it too had several dead cockroaches in the front entry. There was also an unpleasant odour which seemed to come from the ensuite toilet. The staff were polite and apologetic, said the rooms were not opened for 3 days, and that the cleaners hadn’t been there. By this time, I was very disappointed and requested a full refund which the staff gladly gave me and found alternative accommodation.
Rooms not up to an acceptable standardHand scanner + key-code needed to access rooms which are difficult to use, the staff even tried 3 times when showing me up to King Suite.
Clean, friendly staff, great food downstairs.
Sometimes can be a little noisy but it soon drowns out and noise stops pretty early,
Trains noisy
Train noise. I wont stay in rooms 2 to 10 in future.. Piss poor water pressure in the small bathroom. It's either a hot dribble or cold. Fix it.
Air conditioning and large room
Walking to the bathroom
Staff were very friendly. Cleaning staff were very helpful and approachable when requesting a room vacuum.
Big clean modern room in a character hotelComfy bedGreat food
Location is central / convenient However the main road (NE Hwy) is right out the front door so lots of truck noise, ongoing throughout the nightPlus train bridge adjacent so squealing / braking noises periodically to add to the cacophony I was in a front corner room, so maybe other rooms were not as affected and I slept ok with earplugsBut if you’re a light sleeper I think you would struggle
Terrific pub in Muswellbrook. Fantastic vibe, staff were all smiles (thanks Jack) beer was cold and dinner was excellent. A first class steak...
The only downside was the hotels proximity to the train tracks and the main road...too many coal trains...
