Originally built in 1883, the refurbished Pampas Motel Port Augusta is the last heritage hotel from the era. It is an 5-minute drive from central Port Augusta and 8 minutes' drive from Port Augusta Golf Course. The property offers a lounge bar and free on-site parking. The shared bathroom and toilet, extremely dirty and dated . Backed on to a railway track and very noisy.
Not much - this was a pitt stop on the way to Port Lincoln.
Share bathrooms, not great. Bed wasn't very comfortable.
We had a bed to sleep in, and the reception ladies did a good job for the trouble we had. Was relocated due to maintenance in our original booking received no notice until we arrived to a locked door and had to ring to be told we'd be moved elsewhere.
We were relocated due to maintenance in our original booking received no notice until we arrived to a locked door and had to ring to be told we'd be moved elsewhere. Arrived at the new location to a room not of the original size we booked, we were then given another room of the correct size, but we paid full price for a location and room we didn't originally book
Large rooms, comfy bed, hot shower, clean toilets
No fridge in my room or in the shared kitchen but staff were very accommodating around this.
As I have previously stayed there many times under the original owners, it was my preferred place to stay in my work travels.Nice garden outside.
The only complaint is that I wish there was a blanket that I could have thrown over the bed as I was feeling cold.I do not like the air conditioner (heat) going all night.
Spacious all in one apartment w ensuite. Good room layout
A little noisy from vehicles / traffic noise in the early am
Beautiful example of low world travellers in
Only 1 key for accessing room / shared bathroom made timetabling the morning departure a thing.
Cannot comment as I cancelled the booking that evening. I contacted Booking.com and they were most helpful and sent an email to the Motel regarding the cancellation however I expected to be charged as the receptionist was not at all sympathetic to my concerns.
Totally disappointed to find that the motel rooms back onto a railway line at least two trains a night I was told and all the receptionist told me was that it was on their website, hence I cancelled the booking and was charged $125 for nothing as I could not cope with listening too trains during the night they need to make people more aware of the actual location of this motel.
Parking behind locked gate
Poor renovations. Dated mismatched decor not done tastefully or to era of building. Tiny shower cubicle … especially for the size of the bathroom. Thin sheets that had hairs (that weren’t ours) on them. Didn’t look like the bed spread had been washed. Baby crying in background when talking on phone to manager that made it difficult to hear & understand what was being said. Office hours different to times stated on booking.
old charm building. staff reco. a good place to eat.
Location ok. On rail line but only 1 train at night. Security parking good
Clean sheats. Main bed had fine gravel and hair that was not ours and old blood spots. Husband slept on top of old sheats in main bed. I pulled single bed down to sleep in that and it only had a bottom sheet. Slept on that under a blanket.
The units at the back of the hotel were comfortable and convenient. Being able to sit outside in the Courtyard was very pleasant
Nothing although it wouldn’t suit people without a car - being some distance from the shops. We loved the trains going past but, again, some May see this as a negative
Location is good on Striling road, close to town centre and the highway. Enjoyed secured parking, bed was comfy
If you're going to bed early trains do go by up til about 9pm, just something to note. Fairly old motel, basic facilities, definitely a budget option
The fact that noone was available to contact after 9.30 pm and we got there and had been given the wrong pin and couldn't get into our room and thankfully we got a room down the road or we would if had to sleep on the road in the car ...
Comfortable room friendly staff off street parking.
Huge freight trains running every 3 hours right next to large glass window
Air conditioning was great beds were comfortable and room was clean
There was a strange smell in the hallway for most of the week I was there
Convenient location. Room was clean. Secure parking. Quiet location
Looks a little rundown from the outside. But reasonable in side.
Felt safe and secure. Appreciated the private car park. The room was clean and the air conditioning worked well.
