The Country Lodge Hotel

I liked the city view, the breakfast was great, and the reception staff were helpful.

The location offered a wonderful view of the city, and it was also very peaceful. Furthermore, the breakfast was delightful.

The property would benefit from scheduled maintenance.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast options were limited, same everyday. Looks like they put out leftover dinner for breakfast. Ex penne and rice.

A few forks and cups on the table were dirty. The milk for the coffee was spoiled. The water did not go all the way down in the shower.

Beautiful location on top of a hill with sea and city view. Nice pool and very courtesy staff. Restaurant is very good

Wifi is really slow, especially if you need to work.

The room, the food was amazing!! I loved the view and the workers were very friendly and helpful. I and my Fiancée had an amazing time for his birthday treat. I loved everything about the hotel.

The hotel has recently undertaken a total renovation, which has given the hotel a great look. The roomshave been updated and looks great.The staff are amazing, very friendly, and helpful. Customer service at its best comparable, if not better than a few places in the UK where l reside. It was also very nice to see John the general manager of the hotel interacting with the hotel guests asking for improvement feedback. I was also impressed with the cleanliness standards, l observed both day and night cleaning was consistently by carried out by a group of staff. I also loved the hotel location on a hill next to the president residence overlooking the city and the sea. Both day and night, l admired the beautiful view of Freetown and the sea. The hotel has a great restaurant, and l enjoyed the buffet breakfast with a great variety of both African and intercontinental menus to choose from.Normally, l don't eat lauch or dinner at hotels l stay in, but at this hotel due to the great quality, variety and great tasing menu l changed that. My wife is normally a food critic was highly impressed and gave them her thumps up.

Nothing, my observation from my previous stay 2 years ago, have all been addressed

The staff is absolutely amazing! Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming, be it the manager or the waiter/waitress. The gym is probably the best hotel gym I’ve ever experienced!

Most parts of the hotel could need some renorvations.

Nice location overlooking Freetown and the ocean. Quiet hotel with a nice breakfast. Internet is good too.

Customer service was very good

I arrived at the hotel on one of the days during heavy rainfall; one of the staff was standing inside, but he was not initiative enough to bring an umbrella outside to help me work out of my car. I was held up in the car for a while. I wasn't happy with this.

Breakfast buffet was a pleasant experience. Staff were really helpful and went all out to fulfil our requests. Gym, swimming pool and tennis court were in good condition. During our stay not many guests were present so we were able to utilise the facilities when we wanted.

No iron available only an ironing service which had to be paid for. Laundry service was quite pricey if doing a full wash of clothes. No baby cradle or baby bed available so our 1 year old had to sleep between us.

The manager was extremely helpful and the AC worked exceptionally well. Also the restaurant is not too expensive and very good food.

A number of things went wrong at the property:* There were multiple things missing from the room that they either never replaced or took days to get me (hairdryer and phone)* The staff was very inappropriate and rude. I had multiple staff open my hotel room without knocking while I was changing or in the shower. * The staff opened my room to try and clean my room at 8am in the morning. I was naked and sleeping in bed when he saw me and instead of leaving immediately, he woke me and asked if I wanted my room cleaned.* The front desk was very difficult in trying to get cabs and it felt like they were scamming me with the most expensive prices. When I walked 200m from the hotel, I found cabs half the price* The hotel location isn’t ideal. It’s quite far from everything* I found 2 roaches in my room* There are random workers/people wandering all over the property and just sitting in stairwells on their phones. It felt really odd.

Placement of outlets and toilet roll paper very inconvenient. Shower had no door so the shower water spilled to the floor

I was charged way more than I was quoted. They use a standard exchange rate of 1 dollar for 25 SLE, while the rate was around 1 to 21. Instead of paying 1080 USD I ended up paying 1304 USD. The owner refused to acknowledge that their exchange rates were not right

The plugs didn’t work, the AC was leaking water, the WiFi didn’t reach the room, the airport pick up didn’t work out

Well appointed, fantastic staff and conscientious team. Wonderful views and great facilities are true hidden Oasis on the hill.

The location is great with nice views from the hilltop out to sea. It was also nice that some of the staff remembered us from our previous stay over a year ago. The room was spacious and comfortable.

The hotel is undergoing renovations which meant that one of the restaurants was closed the room I booked not available. It should have been clear when booking that renovations are in progress so guests can make informed decisions about if they want to book.
