Very helpful and friendly owner. The room is a generous size with everything you need for a short break.Fantastic location across from the beach and just a few minutes walk to the centre of town.We cannot recommend this property enough and would definitely rebook.

This is not the cheapest option in Napier, but the quality of service, room facilities, location, and small extra touches make it one of the best. Rooms are large and spotless, the beds, linen, and pillows are top notch, and the kitchenette is a great addition. There is a free washer and dryer on site, and the location is perfect -- across the street from the city beach and a ten minute walk to the historic district. Julian and his wife are kind hosts, and clearly care about their guests.

I appreciated the help parking when I arrived. Wi-fi was a good speed. The daily room refresh kept everything looking clean and tidy. The room was very quiet.

Place was roomy. It had everything you could wish for. It had separate living area to bedroom which was great for us. Location was great and spa in the room was amazing

This nice small motel right across the street from the beach is an unexpected gem in a touristy town like Napier. The rooms were quite large with spa tubs as well as a nice bathroom and small kitchenette. They were clean, well equipped and so comfortable! The manager was exceptionally helpful with food recommendations and answering questions about Napier.

Everything was top notch and I would recommend this lodging to anyone!

Friendly owner/operator , close to town,beach ,parks

Julian, the host, was very friendly and helpful. I loved the location. My wife and I got up and walked across the street to join others watching the sunrise over the ocean. Great location!!! Great Room!!! and Great management.

Julian is an excellent host, the room was very well planned and equipped. We were greeted by Julian who gave us local information and told us to contact anytime during our stay if we had any issues and this included when we were out and about away from the motel. We stayed for two nights and were very impressed by the standard of housekeeping. Great location in easy walking distance to the main street. Worth mentioning that there is a good exhibition in the museum which gives information about the 1931 earthquake.Courtesy use of washing machine and dryer was an added bonus (including detergent) - perhaps put a note beside the washing machine to encourage people to use the quick wash (which we did) so that other guests get more of a chance of using this

Nothing to dislike

The facilities and location were first rate - super king size bed and spa bath, plus kitchen amenities. Julian our host was very helpful and approachable. Being a top-floor room meant a great view of the morning sunrise over the sea. Beautiful spot.

Little bit of anxiety over the carparking - there's 9 parks for 11 rooms - we got in early so no issue - but this was on our Booking filter and a key requirement for us as leaving our car on the street is not an option for us.

Motel de la Mar is just a short walk from the center of Napier, great location across from the sea. Our room was spacious and clean, very comfortable. Julian is very helpful - allowed us to check-in an hour early, after I sent him a note to ask. He also loaned us an umbrella since we didn't have the greatest weather.

The room was clean, warm, comfortable and spacious. Great location to town and sights. Had everything we needed :) Was very quiet, no noise from the road or other guests. Spa bath was a bonus treat to relax in after walking around town all day.

Restricted views

Good stay from the minute we arrived. We were greeted by the owner who straight away gave us a town map and marked places of interest. We were also given a list of recommendations for meal stops and shown around our room. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and a good nights sleep. The location was right on the seafront with the main art deco part of the town just five minutes walk away. Highly recommend this motel.
