Glow Worm Motel

Local knowledge of the manager/owner was great.

There was no shampoo or conditioner. Only toiletries we had in our bag was our toothbrush and paste so not being able to wash our hair was disappointing.

Location

No wifi, barking dog, stained sheets, poor shower drainage, disconnected fire alarm, wires everywhere, appeared to be a fire hazard. Poor heating system. Carpet from circa 1970. Very disappointed. We would of left but had no other place to go.

The wifi didn't work at all. The room was outdated.Doesn't worth the price.

This hotel is basic and nice and clean. Had everything we needed in our kitchenette.

It’s well worn.

Bare bones but comfy and close to caves. Owner's cats visited us in the morning while we were packing up. That was great.

A few flies/gnats/spiders in the restroom.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the ;location was excellent. The hosts were very accommodating and took our late arrival in stride. If I'm ever passing through the area again, I'll definitely look for availability at the Glow Worm Motel.

Place is very convenient. It was very clean and well maintained. The kitchenette was very handy.

Little difficult to find.

-Fabulous location - 5 min drive from the Waitomo caves-Very friendly host and easy check-in/check-out-The apartment was a bit outdated and simple, but it had everything we needed for a night's stay: it was spacious and great for families.-The bathroom was huge, albeit a bit cold (we were here in winter). Couldn't find how to make it warmer other than use one of the space heaters from the room, but it didn't bother me too much.

Nothing, all was as described.

I booked this room last minute, and it met all of our needs. The staff was very friendly and informed us of a glowworm cave we could visit for free. The room was clean and warm.

As others have said, road noise can be an issue, but considering the price and location, it's not a major concern.

Owner was very friendly and so helpful on all the places to go and visit sent us to some amazing sitesHad a great 2 nights we were even given a upgrade on our room

The room was a great space with a kitchenette which was really handy. It was really close to the Waitomo Caves which was really handy. Super friendly hosts on check in. Overall really comfortable and spacious.

It was clean, the owner was lovely, beautiful, lavender, bush, growing just outside the window, good shower. The place is great for an overnight stay and we were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves that night. Not too far from Waitomo Caves. Very short drive to the village to have dinner.

Little bit noisy from the highway as the trucks slow down for the roundabout.

Kids loved the pool. The location was great for what we traveled for.

The rooms can get quite hot without any air conditioning, there were fans which helped though, would suggest getting air con put in, and we did find a lot of geckos in the room after returning from our days away

Lovely owners; very helpful directing us to local bar (friendly and cheap steaks) and suggested we did a river walk in the dark to see glow worms - brilliant.Long chat about the clear skies.Ideal Motel when visiting the Glow Worm Caves.Brilliant.

Very good location to go visit waitomo and explore all the activities there and the owner was very friendly and welcoming and telling me about cool things to do at waitomo

I had to ask for milk and I was there 2 days should have been given at least 2 very little bottles of milk and I had to come back early from my day of looking around waitomo to arrange next days accomadation would have been good if he could of called me on phone communication so I could have stayed longer doing things around waitomo

It had everything we needed and was close to several attractions we wanted to visit, so was ideal for us.The owners were lovely and friendly and gave us helpful information.The fan in the room was very welcome on the hot nights.

The motel is close to the SH so there is some traffic noise all night.

The host is very helpful

The noise of heavy vehicles all night gave me - a deep sleeper - an extremely disturbed night
