Otorohanga & Waitomo Motels

The staff at the front desk when we checked in was lovely, clear communication and helpful.

Our room was meant to have a double or queen and two singles. Instead it had four singles. I am not sure why I got a room I didnt order, but it worked for us anyway.

We had a great stay at this motel. It was only 15 mins from Waitomo caves and literally 2 mins from the shops, restaurants and takeout. The hosts were very gracious. They gave us milk for tea and coffee and bottled water for the kettle. The room was

scrupulously clean, smelled wonderful and looks like it was recently renovated. Water pressure was great. And bonus of microwave which most places don't now have. It is an older looking motel, but worth the stay. Also a heat pump/ air conditioner. AA++

Great room with all that we needed. Not fancy, but clean, equipped, convenient, and just what we needed at the right price. We appreciated that it could accommodate our family of five. Would stay again!

Owners/managers very pleasant.

Very dated accommodation where several things didn't. We couldn't get the air con going, the external light wasn't working, and couldn't find an outside rubbish bin. The pool was very dirty and the surroundings needed tidying up.

I would not stay in or recommend this accommodation

When we arrived, we found that the rooms were nothing like the pictures on booking.com The rooms where dingy, very cramped and not particularly clean. We did not feel that the rooms were safe or secure. My son couldn't even fit in the shower comfortably and the toilet room was tiny. The fridge was in the middle of the room with a microwave on top of it. We found bread and a lot of bugs in the swimming pool; the so-called change rooms were an unlined room with a dirty sick and a stool and nothing else and the toilet near the pool was also unlined and very dirty. There was a hole in near the driveway that was only covered with some sort of metal sheet, the swing set did not look safe and the room that the spa was in was locked and couldn't be accessed. As we were travelling with 4 smaller children, we decided that we did not want to risk staying at this property. I would not recommend this property at all

Room was a good size for our family although we reconfigured the beds so my grand-daughter could sleep by her mother

The pool and spa were across the road at the bottom of the hill and we just noticed the laundry as we were leaving this morning

The room was very clean and easy to access from parking. The location, being just outside of the main street, was nice and quiet, but still close to shops.

The shower lacked sufficient pressure to keep you warm while bathing.

General location close to town.

Noisy overnight. Heavy double trailer trucks passing by all night.

Difference in booking.com compare to what we were given. Unit had very low water pressure in shower, top element of stove not working, no dish cloth for dishes, no flannels, cabinet for TV was too low. High cost unit had no facility to wash dishes.

Nothing - it was awful and i wont be staying there again.

Everything.Never again - I paid $180 for one night, it wasn’t as per the room booking I received via Booking.com or what the pictures suggested - far from it. It was something out of the 1980’s, grubby, cob webs, lights not working or no bulb, no milk, warped basin in the bathroom, toilet door didn’t close properly, killed two cockroaches, windows over the kitchen sink did not close properly / flimsy latches, no face towels, no shower products, noisy upstairs occupants - it was a joke. We got up at 5am the next morning and left. We stayed in Room 10.

I feel like room felt dirty , grime all over the doors and on the roof it didn’t feel clean or comfortable at all.

Loved the parking of the car being right outside our unit. Loved the lady that helped us reception. Very very lovely and such a kind human:

Warm and quiet

Tv didn't work, shower not the best.

A modern, comfortable unit just outside Otorohanga.

Like many of the reviews I should have read Pryor to booking , we were placed in room 1 of the old section of the motel. Very Very dated , old everything inside reminded me of a shearing quarters. Enough space inside for a family of 4 though. All of this I could have handled but the road noise is something all together next level,whenever a truck thunders by which is very often the whole building shakes and feels like small tremors. Which inturn leads to a very restless night . I think this room is suited maybe to hard workers that have had a skin full of alcohol and could sleep through anything.

Spotlessly clean studio unit, with bed, sofa, and microwave.

We had booked a 1 brm apartment, but were upgraded to a studio unit. There was no indoor table or chairs, so not suitable for working from, sadly.

Good location, nice enough for what it was. Being in the main house under the owner family with a child crying every night is something to get used to. It is quite old and dated but inline with most motels these days.

Host was very friendly and helpful.

Would love to have had a mirror in the main living area. Only had a tiny mirror in the bathroom we were all trying to use at the same time.

Rooms were clean except for cobwebs behind kitchen curtain.

Some windows didn’t have catches that worked on windows. Toilet door didn’t close. Some kitchen cupboards needed upgrading.

Really comfy bed. Friendly staff. Great location for the glow worm caves only a short drive away.
