Stay Hostel Rotorua

Cleanliness was excellent, staff very pleasant and helpful. Room very small but adequate. Basic TV but was fine. Overall we were happy.

Size of room was much smaller than I expected and only one tiny window which only opened a couple of inches. No window in bathroom but had extractor fan, was adequate. Steps to upstairs were quite difficult for seniors.

We ypgraded to a bigger rm which we were thankful for. Were happy we could park inside the complex. Staff were amazing.

Walls were a bit thin and sounds of water running could be hsard thruthem. Shower blockd but they got straight on2 that.

Iya made me feel very welcome and was very helpful. The kitchen facilities were useful for those who wanted to cook.

Lack of anywhere to hang clothes. No problem if you stay one night but I stayed for four.

Great hostel if you traveling on a budget.The room was basic but everything what I needed was there. The kitchen is very specious and clean, bed very comfortable and the bathroom been always clean. But the best part of this place is the most friendliest receptionist Ia if I spell her name right. She is literally like a sunshine.

DONT STAY HERE. This was not the accommodation that was shown on Booking.com. The actual place was Astray Motel. The reviews on Google for that place are terrible; the host will argue this like she has every other negative comment. But there are definitely people staying there long term and there was a man with a home detention anklet on staying there when I arrived. I stayed at the motel for 1 hour and then I left and found somewhere else, strong chemical smells, reviews of bed bugs and drunk people living there, mold in the room it was not a place I wanted to stay.

The pod is bigger than expected. Comfortable bed and clean facilities.

Awesome staff, super helpful. Room is small but it's for 1 person (which I choose) so works fine. They even provide a towel.

It was conveniently located, private room with shared bathroom and toilets. There was a shared kitchen which was handy and the staff was really nice.

Just needs a bit of a spruce up the place but other than that is a great place for a couple of nights.

Location being in middle of city center.

All areas of premises are very small/compact. Any larger person would struggle to use toilet and close door. Bed mattresses are extremely firm and be no different to sleeping with a blanket underneath you on ground. Car parking is very compact and you need to get in early for onsite carpark, later arrivals end up blocking you in so if you need to leave early I suggest trying to secure carparks close to exit or park on road (unsure how safe parking on road would be overnight!) accomodation is across road from msd, and seems to be quite a few homeless hanging around, both nights we could hear dramas and screaming however this couldn't be heard when we were inside rooms. If you are a light sleeper I wouldn't recommend staying here as all rooms, toilet, shower are in very close proximity, we stayed directly opposite the toilet/shower and everytime it was used we were woken. The best part about this place is the manager and way she is so friendly and helpful to guests, nothing seems to be too much trouble and if I stayed again it would be purely to support a business and someone who's customer service is absolutely outstanding and therefore deserves returning patrons and business! communal Kitchen is basic but has what's needed!

Room was very small and very basic, my feet touched the wall one end and head the other (190cm). Room would’ve been around 1.4m wide at most.Because it was so small it got very hot, had to sleep with window open which was immediately next to the entrance door, so I could hear people come and go all night. Walls were also thin and very noisy. Showers were tiny, barely enough room to wash and dry. Whole place seemed a bit run down. The room was clean but the common areas like kitchen and bathrooms a bit dirty (to be fair, this could be point in time)I paid $62 Australian, for $90 two days later I got a full hotel room in the heart of Wellington. Similarly for $120 in the Auckland CBD. Seemed like this was maybe over priced by comparison, although better than being in a dorm with others. TBH everything in Rotorua seemed like poor value compared to other parts of the north island in summary: for one night it was passable but I wouldn’t have wanted to be there any longer.

I took a single room pod. Small room but great for a one night stay. Lady at the front desk was kind and very friendly. Thank you.

The staff were exceptional. Iya and Sandra were incredibly kind and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The beds were extremely comfortable! The facilities such as the toaster and microwave are a great addition to the room and there was a good selection of tea and coffee. the shared kitchen and communal areas are lovely too.
