Maple Lodge Motel

Located less than 30 minutes from Hobbiton movie set, and from the country's tallest water fall. Close to city centre, there are a number of restaurants/take-aways close by.

Very friendly proprietor. He was very helpful.

Friendly and helpful staff, great location handy to main centre, clean and spacious units with very comfortable beds a plus and price is value for money!

The room was a good size. It was clean and staff was very friendly.

Wifi didn't work well and coffee was only instant coffee.

Our room was upgraded with no extra cost, thankyou. Was pleased to get messages before getting to the Motel

Clean spacious room, comfortable beds, kitchenette, coffee and hot chocolate packets provided, friendly staff.

There was no hot water in the kitchen sink. Hotel could use an update but it was clean so not a big deal.

Mary was a wonderful host! She went fast and beyond with the welcoming. She was kind enough to not only keep our backpacks for a while, but to take us to the bus station!We're very grateful!

Driving into the property everything looked so clean and inviting. Maria greeted us and made us feel so welcome. Our room was comfortable, clean and with so many amenities. There was even fresh milk in the fridge for our coffee. I had one of the best sleeps there because we could have a window open for fresh air and it was quiet. Thank you Maria.

The bed was very comfortable and we both got a great nights sleep. Late check-in was hassle free. Great value.

Had a lovely stay at Maple Lodge. The room was spacious and had everything you need. Special thanks to Maria who got me to my Hobbiton tour just in time when my taxi booking fell through last minute!

It was a nice and quiet place, clean, with a stove, oven ,cooking utensils, plates and silverwares. They even had fresh milk in the refrigerator with tea, coffee.

The only thing we didn't like was the faucet. Faucet has a hot water faucet and a separate cold faucet and the problem is you can't balance the temperature that's in bathroom sink.

Simple, friendly, clean and comfortable. A great value. We loved the free laundry and a clothes line for drying

Staff was very welcoming, and the room (suite, really) was very spacious and clean. Incredible value and comfort for what we needed, which was just a one night stay while we visited Hobbiton and then returned to Auckland. Would definitely stay again :)

Facilities were slightly outdated, but not dysfunctional or dirty. Exactly what we expected, we did not want to pay top dollar for a fancy hotel. A bit of an older establishment was what we expected, and it was fantastic.

The receptionist Maria is very communicative and hospitable! She was so nice and informative and made for a warm welcome! Clean rooms with great ammenities- awesome birds to wake up to- an idyllic stay! The landscaped entrance looks cool to- a great 1st impression!

That my stay wasn't for longer! If you prefer to cook your own meals this place will greatly accommodate based on the kitchenette! Awesome.

The motel was very clean. Communication was great, Maria was very prompt to answer any questions we had. Great location: walking distance to the main street and the parks. Laundry room had a dryer, which is more than most places would offer. Ten-minute drive to Hobbiton.

Nothing. Everything was fantastic!

Everything was excellent. Did not expect to have daily towel change, so was pleasantly surprised. Owners were excellent to deal with, would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Matamata. Free laundry use was an added surprise and much appreciated.
