Hygate Motor Lodge

Peaceful and quiet. We could walk to the supermarkets. The room and bathroom was very spacious and clean.

They should make it clear there is NO movie channels on their TV. The person at reception should smile or try and be friendly with his customers.

Convenient place to stay for my travel. The room was spacious, tidy, and clean.

Difficult parking lot structure. Pillows no support.

The room was a little sterile with one of those awful vinyl sofas and a large area of the room between the kitchenette and bed where a divider chair would have been useful - perhaps stark is the better word. Otherwise everything was good, nice and clean.

Facilities and location were good for our stay, was very clean and presentable

We were blamed for taking 1 pillow and $50 deducted from our $100 bond for the room. The pillows are no where near a $50 pillow so we get left feeling ripped off and no pillow

This was a very last minute booking and received a warm welcome when I arrived. The room and amenities were very clean, the bed was very comfortable and location excellent.

Location

I wasn’t aware of the $100 deposit fee. I did a last minute booking which is totally on me, but because of how last minute it was. I paid in full until I turned up to reception to check in and there was $100 deposit fee that they refund after the stay that I barely had enough of considering I spent my check on gas, tickets to the māori all-stars and the room. I only booked one night, I told the staff that unfortunately I don’t have $100 for a deposit fee but he couldn’t help me which isn’t his fault but they didn’t really offer any alternative and said I just had to go through booking.com for a refund. So unfortunately I was forced to stay in my car overnight. Which was really unsafe considering the weather.

No sky TV I put in a special request for a cold beer, but never saw it in my fridge

The location was good. Room was clean. Good facilities like laundry and Complimentary tea coffee and hot chocolate.

The bed maybe could be upgraded as the mattress was very soft.

Milk that staff gave me was rancid even though of expiry was 14.2.26Outside door didn't shut so used chain and kept rattling in night

Staff friendly for our book in.

Wifi patchy/general speed. Getting a bit dated but still decent. Parking is tight, and need to reverse out of the place (no turn around bay when getting busier). Entrance guttering off main road is fairly steep and an issue for lower profile cars scrapping front etc.
