Palm Motel Waihi

Rooms are clean, beds a wee bit hard for my liking but overall great value for money. Easy check-in and out, definitely stay again.

We only stayed for one night and found it very good . It was 5 mins away from the wedding and 5 mins away from the reception at RSA. The rooms were very cosy , but we could hear the neighbours talking all night lol .

It was so run down. The stove top were rusted we would not have felt safe to use. Damages were marked and not repaired. We relocated accepting the coat only because we had already paid. You should not stay here!!!

Nothing my family liked. The service was bad.

I fully paid for the booking made via Booking.com based on the provided photographs, the accommodation at Palm Motel Waihi significantly differed from the advertised images. The motel room also contained spiders. A complaint was lodged with the Palm Motel Waihi reception, resulting in an agreement for a full refund, with instructions to contact Booking.com for processing. Despite lodging a formal complaint with Booking.com, Palm Mote Waihil has failed to respond to Booking.com's subsequent calls and emails. Before contacting Booking.com, I contacted Palm Motel Waihi directly and was met with an unhelpful response from the receptionist, who displayed a dismissive attitude and failed to return calls. This lack of cooperation from Palm Motel Waihi has resulted in an unresolved refund issue.

Close to town

The place wasn’t clean. Brown marks on sheets. Hair from previous guests in shower and drain. Broken tap in bathroom. Curtain broken. We weren’t allowed to use the spa. This was extremely disappointing as after hiking for two days we wanted a place which had a spa to soak our tired muscles. The kids had a quick swim in the pool and were then told they couldn’t use the spa as they might contaminate it!! Despite offering to wash their togs first we weren’t allowed in.

The layout of the family room was good. Bed comfy. Hot tub and pool were great but not available as advertised. Good location for the Hauraki Rail Trail.

Dated and tired. Dishes in cupboards were dirty. Chair looked ready to collapse. No heat pump. Fan remote had no batteries. You’re not allowed to go between the pool and the spa as they use different chemicals and going between them could upset the balance. It didn’t matter if we showered between. We also weren’t allowed to use the spa at 7pm “in case we slipped” despite it being advertised as open til 8.30pm. Disappointing as we were there for the Rail Trail bike ride and the spa was one of the reasons we booked as it would have been lovely after a day on the bikes. The lady on reception was not welcoming or helpful.

Staff are always accommodating and friendly.

Run down, tired, curtains dirty and had holes, had to ask for towels and teatowels. Broken handles on kitchen cupboards, sound of neighbouring units showers running very loud through walls woke us each morning.

Disappointing

On the surface it appeared clean but it’s far from it. The room needs a deep clean, windows were covered in mould, the ceiling in the bathroom has mould spots, the net curtain absolutely stunk and the overall smell of the room smelt like wet dog. If you have young children, I wouldn’t stay here, being next to the highway it is so loud at night and the walls are so thin you can hear the neighbours chatting away.

Location was good, parking was sufficient

There wasn't anything we didn't like, staff were helpful, rooms were basic but clean. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils

We enjoyed our stay, beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Kitchen was fully equipped, we were asked if we would like to have milk and we received one small bottle. 1 towel set was missing upon our arrival (we were 3) but after asking it was brought to our door immediately.

We were little unlucky and some group had party during our 1 night stay and they set directly in front of our bedroom window. Here I appreciated intervention from the owner - he insisted that they will leave until they did - it was around 1:30 am and rest of the night was quiet.

Good parking. Reasonable price. Friendly reception staff.

Room was small ( not even a kitchen sink ) Very limited set of crockery. There were 2 adults in our room but it is set up for up to 4 people. Nearest supermarket over a kilometre away although lady on reception (owner?) did kindly take one of our party there in her car.

No sink in one room. Fridge not clean.The place looks run down and needs addressing.Not on my recommend list

Loved the sunset view that we had, location, there's a pool and also spa there if anyone wanted it ? owner was so lovely about me and my little family turning up way later then expected.. We were close to shops ans only a 10min drive away from the beach, also the waterfall was just down the road it was beautiful such a lovely weekend away ?

The water pressure was great for the shower

Very basic for the price of the room for one night plus the mismatched cups and glasses and plates table was just a small item and round hardly big enough to eat at. The case stand was broken and the fan light was flashing on an off - electrical problem

Only stayed one night, and only needed somewhere to rest our heads. Didn’t spend long enough there to comment. Location was good.

Thin walls, could literally hear the guests in the next room. Bed was not the comfiest. Didn’t feel very welcoming when I checked in.

The shower curtain was too short so the bathroom flooded. No sink to wash dishes in.

We found that the couple in charge on the weekend are a fabulous couple. Greet you with a smile and fun to talk to.

What's not to like. Old school motel nothing fancy just how I like motels
