- I asked for a down stairs room , of which it was windowless and smaller that I have had before , l consider myself a regular staying every six months , so the room was disappointing... I will have to reconsider my choice next time
Cons -

Bed was cofortable and location was excellent.Car park acess was very good
Room size was very small, lacked natural light. Food trays were left in the cooridor for extended period.
The rooms are beautiful and the staff go out of their way to accommodate any requests. My in room meal from the restaurant was exceptional and promptly delivered.
As I live on property normally, I do struggle a little with the noise and the amount of light that comes through the shutters.
The location and the traditional look
The rooms were too small and a complimentary bottle of water would have been a nice gesture
The standout is the unassuming restaurant. The food was fabulous and the service exceptional. Our room was more beautiful than the photos and on a bustling weekend, I'm sure the champagne courtyard would be a wonderful way to wind down. Gorgeous decor with old world charm, but up to date facilities.
No lift is a challenge with heavy bags. Shame the champagne courtyard wasn't open. The train noise might get a bit frustrating on a long stay, but easily negated with the free earplugs provided.
Great location, friendly staff
It was very noisy all night, not sure if was the people walking up and down the staircase or the kitchen staff but the noise was echoing and made it difficult to get any sleep. The carpet was also very dirty.
Great food, lovely decor and friendly staff
That I had to go home
Good location, comfortable
Very small rooms and bed was against the wall,
Great Location. Lovely room. We had breakfast & dinner at Lola’s which was exceptional.
-Easy Check in -Loved the bed very comfortable and loved the aircon it was a very hot weekend and we stayed nice and cool-Had a really lovely breakfast at the restaurant very tasty-Great central location, close to train, so nice and easy to wonder around Ballarat and go exploring and go out for dinner
Central location, room was clean and fresh, parking was convenient
The noise of the trains throughout the night
A lovely property in a great location. Cuisines first rate.
The room was exceptionally small. The bathroom door only just cleared the toilet when it was open.
Helpful staff on reception.Restaurant was superb for breakfast and dinner.
We did not take breakfast. But had dinner in the attached Lola restaurant which was excellent
That we only stayed one night
Lovely decor and building
Rooms quite small and some (at least ours) had no window
Really beautiful property, warm bedroom, so nice to have the heater on and the room comfortable on arrival. Lovely touch. Really comfortable bed, beautiful linens and accessories. All very clean and smelled nice. Lovely bathroom amenities. Great shower pressure. Enjoyed my meals at Lola. Service was slow but food was lovely.
Only issue was slow service at Lola, which did throw my morning out as breakfast was greatly delayed. The train station opposite was noisy with tooting trains but they seemed to stop overnight, until around 5.30am.
Huge rooms and great location
We were told breakfast from 7.30am in the restaurant. Yet when we went down at 7.30 it was closed as the manager wasn’t there and was running late. We had to go elsewhere to eat.
Central location near railway station, shops and restaurants, in historic hotel in Ballarat’s most historic street. It has been recently renovated, and has an excellent restaurant on site where we had dinner and breakfast. Our room was a reasonable size, with a very comfortable large double bed. There was free onsite guest parking close to the room. I would recommend the hotel.
I found the pillows too floppy. I like a foam pillow for firm neck support so I take my own when I travel.
