Pros +
- Good location walking distance to good places to eat
- Front desk gentlemen's service was so lovely (I wish I could remember his name) and location was exceptional.
- location and the old style of the hotel
Cons -
- No onsite parking and the paid parking near by did not open until 7am
- It was a tad odd that the 'tv' wasn't on the wall. It was stuck in a cupboard on an angle, that couldn't really be watched properly unless you were on a particular side of the bed.
- one wall was very dusty

Location, Historic old hotel
Only one chair is in the room. Shouldn't both guests have a chair to sit on?
Great location. Family room is spacious.
The phantom pool is still under renovation 12 months later. Needs a microwave and/or toaster in the family room.
The old world charm was amazing, the location is great and the room and hotel were very clean
They dont have room refresh on a sunday and that was strange
Location
No one was there to assist me with check in. I had informed the hotel that I would be doing a late check in. When I got there in the 43 degrees heat, no one was at reception and there was a sign to report to the bistro for assistance. Staff at the bistro had no clue about the sign and were not able to contact their manager for at least 15 mins. Ridiculous. When the manager finally came, there was no apology for making my family and I wait. I won’t be going back.
Beautiful old interior but modern bathroom
No crackle with Port roast dinner is a thing
Very central. Large room. Clean. Historical. Would def stay again.
Great central location within easy reach of things to see and place to eat. The staff were great, both at the reception and restaurant and the restaurant was enjoyed by the three of us. After dinner a couple of good reds it was very convenient.
The car parking was alright but how to access it could have been better explained before getting to the Hotel.
Location stayed there before with amazing reviews
Dirty and the staff don’t work together as a team
Central location but still quiet, room was very spacious and clean. Bathroom was a great size and water pressure was pretty good. Lovely historical features have been preserved which is beautiful.
It's right at the centre of the historic town so most things are within walking distance. The building is really grand, 19th century and solid so it's quiet. The restaurant is on the ground floor and had above average pub food at night. We sat on the first floor common balcony and had a drink looking over the park. A multi story parking garage has a direct passage to the hotel. Our bathroom had a huge spa bath but we didn't try it. Too many things to do.
As with older buildings there are no power points next to the bed for charging the phone. It has an ancient lift to reached the 3 stories. It creaks and shakes but actually performed perfectly.
The Hotel was lovely, but our room faced on to the roof and was airless. Lovely location though. Bendigo is fabulous.
Room position was poor.
Staff and food great location excelent
Rooms could do with new decor balcony waiting for accident to happen frett work around balcony dangerously loose a small child could easly push through.
Beautiful old hotel. Shower and toiletries were wonderful
Rooms need some TLC. bit dirty, curtains hanging off the runners.
Its close proximity to the town area. We have stayed here before. The historic features are lovely, but certain areas need a makeover in terms of maintenance. The car park is handy but its hours of operation seem to vary and the staff can be a bit sketchy about those details. The bed was fantastic and we loved the size of our room.
The reception hours are not satisfactory. They need to be more accessible, especially in the mornings and at night. For example, we came back one night at 9.30pm and the front door was locked (but we were given a key at check in), and all the foyer was pretty much in darkness! Also the car park was locked! This was between Christmas and New Year! At times, the reception staff were on the ball but at others, a bit vague. We nearly always needed to ring the bell for someone at reception or go to the bistro. Also, the bathroom was not clean. We had room with a spa tub and it was not clean on the base, around the taps and fittings and ledges. We cleaned the bath before only using it once. Taps on basin also need cleaning around them. Why would there be dirt left around the tap/faucet? I don’t think they had been cleaned properly for months. There was also thick dust on the skirting boards in the room which we first noticed when plugging in our phones. I don’t think there has been a thorough clean for a long time. The towels were changed every day - you have to ask for that - but I don’t think the hotel is committed to cleaning/attention to detail. Money needs to be spent on this - maybe by employing more people? There were many areas that need painting but at least do the main public areas! The surrounds of the lift just typify how tired the hotel is looking. As we have stayed here before and know the town very well, it is such a shame that it has been let go. It’s not enough to have the beautiful historic features in 2025, if standards in all other areas have dropped.
Location was great
Room was a little dirty and lift wasn’t working
An iconic n historic hotel in the centre of the Bendigo CBD. We parked on the road out front but secure parking was an option. Large suite, plenty of room, great bathroom, very clean, comfy bed -inside stairs were a surprise. Lift was appreciated And we would stay again.
Inside stairs
Love the old building and character
Aircon in room did not work. Not a Shamrock issue but Bendigo CBD seems to be dying with lots of empty shops and lack of eating options. Shame for such a beautiful town
