Pros +
- 1. Its excellent restaurant 2. Quirky design of the bedroom, with its four-poster bed and day bed.
- This hotel is under new ownership. The new owners did not make it known that the hotel bar/restaurant is under construction. When we arrived at the hotel, the reception desk was closed. We checked into our room via a lockbox code. There was a Western Union across the street. A group of unsavory people were milling around outside. We did not feel comfortable walking around that neighborhood at night. We met other guests in the hotel. Just like us, they booked this hotel because of the bar/restaurant. The next day, we learned that the owners deliberately did not disclose on various booking platforms that the bar and restaurant were closed. On the positive side, the room was clean and comfortable. I do want to give a shout out to the housekeeper. I’m so sorry that I cannot recall her name but she was a shining light in the experience. The new owners are lucky to have her on staff. She is a gem.
- It was so welcoming. The Staff is amazing. I loved it
Cons -
- Having to duck so low to enter and leave the bathroom.

- I loved everything. No elevator. But the staff were so good to carry our way too many bags.

I loved everything. No elevator. But the staff were so good to carry our way too many bags.
The location was great and the rooms were clean and tidy.
Really needs new pillows as they were as thin as a blanket. Brand new bar but they wont sell regular beer only craft. We went else where because of this. Could use a bit of a freshen up. Door handles are coming off and new pillows and mattresses would help. Shame the restaurant wasn't open
Location right in middle of town was great and the onsite parking very helpful
We did not get the room we booked and since there are no onsite staff to help, they did not rectify it when we queried it. The whole place felt tired and we had to enter past the closed down restaurant which was dusty and gloomy. Our room had a broken window and it appeared there was no attempt to fix it. While the room was spacious, it did not feel big as it was cluttered up with furniture (including an extra unwanted bed), and the bathroom was literally a cupboard with no room to turn around or put anything down.
Location. Staff. Cleanliness. Comfort. Old world feel.
No restaurant. No breakfast. No elevator. No after-hours contact information.
Unique! Great location and easy to walk to restaurants and other things. Friendly staff!
History and location.
We were there 3 nights - except for cleaning staff, there was no one around. One reason we booked this hotel is because it had restaurants and a bar, which were closed. The 2nd night there were parties in the bar and people walking around the hotel (and rooms) with drinks - when we inquired what was going on we were told it was private and the restaurant and bar would open in a couple weeks. After sending 2 emails complaining (couldn’t talk to anyone), we were told on night 3 that the hotel was being taken over by new owners and they were celebrating with friends. After sharing our experiences, several locals noted the place had deteriorated, which is sad given the history.
Classic and vintage while being comfortable and classy
No restaurant or bar. But we were told the owner is working on getting them up and running soon.
Loved the remnants of old world charm.
The lobby and lounge/Bar area were closed for renovation even though, when I booked it mentioned they would be available, this was mostly the reason I booked a Hotel. The stairs are a problem when getting luggage to the room.
Location, decor
Very cold
Loved the decor. Very close to everything.
The bar and restaurant were not open but there were plenty of eateries and bars nearby.
Location is great. The walls are thick meaning there is absolutely no noise coming into the room from other rooms. The old-world charm of the building is great. The A/C worked well to heat the room in the cooler nights. The complimentary glass of port each night was a nice touch.
A lot of morning light came into the room. A pelmet over the top of the curtains or a better black-out system would make the rooms perfect. The bed was great but the pillows were a bit too soft. I suggest that the hotel invests in some rubber foam pillows. They last and hold their shape. Otherwise the room was very comfortable.
Good central location with various restaurants in walking distance
Wifi signal was weakDoor locking was fiddlyCould have done with help to carry heavy suitcase up to room (no elevator)
Location close to many restaurants. Comfortable bed. Convenient parking.
Really cool old building and unique rooms.
If you have large suitcases there is no elevator so can be difficult getting them to your room
Location, very friendly staff.
Lack of parking, noisy if room is facing the street.
Included breakfast's choices and quality were great.
Only improvement would be a baggage elevator, but probably not possible in old building.
We were upgraded to the Deluxe apartment, whilst the décor might not be for everyone it was an interesting room with a Huge TV. Great bed in the loft
There wasn't anything bad about this hotel.
It was in the middle of the city and close to everything. Bar downstairs was fun. We could even walk to Astrolabe wine bar on the river.
Bathrooms were adequate but not large.
