The hotel location is oceanfront with nice view from our room. Pools are well maintained and we enjoyed afternoon swims after hot days of touring the Island. The restaurant and bars made it very convenient to relax and enjoy our limited time at hotel.

Very clean and beautiful hotel. Staff is amazing and helpful. From the minute you arrive, we were greeted with complimentary wine during check in process. Very nice, very clean, exceptionally caring and helpful staff! We really enjoyed our stay.

Parking in the garage costs €15 per day. Parking outside is free, but can be a bit of a challenge to find a spot as it’s generally quite full.

rooms and spa need upgrading

The interior decor was poor compared to the beautifully laid garden / pool area . The lobby resembles that of a hospital . The lounge tries to look eclectic but misses the mark .

Everything, the views, vicinity of downtown, nice non intrusive staff, breakfast. It was wonderful.

Lovely swimming pools, both indoors and outdoors. Amazing view from our room. Great location close enough to Funchal and on the promenade for nice walks. Also close to lots of restaurants. Good buffet breakfast with lots of choice. Nice and helpful staff.

Breakfast got a bit repetitive after a couple of days, it would maybe feel more special if it had more local products. There was music most nights and it was a bit loud in our room up till 11 that it stopped, possibly not great for younger kids, ours only complained once.

The hotel gym could be upgraded a bit. Besides that everything was great.

I didn’t like the gym. I don’t think he had enough equipment and it’s out in the open so that was not the best. I also didn’t like my room because it was down the basement looking out right at a very busy promenade so I could never have my windows open because people will be looking into my room.

Location, spotlessly clean, staff on top of everything, nothing was too much trouble

Bar areas seem sterile and layout a bit awkward being on top of dining areas. Carpets in the halls could be removed, updated.

Beautiful hotel, most of the staff were super nice and helpful, it was very clean and tidy. The spa was great and clean. I loved the pool area. Breakfast was great.

The sauna opening hours were 08-11:30 and then from 16:30-20:00 Some of the staff were unbothered and a bit rude but most of them were super nice. The jacuzzi was a bit cold around 35 degres.

The hotel is very well located adjacent to the fairly level promenade. There are bus stops right outside enabling easy travel into Funchal or in the opposite direction. Within the vicinity there are various restaurants and shops and I think the location is excellent with beautiful sea views. I loved the outdoor pools and the bright coloured leaves and flowers of the well-maintained gardens. The public areas are very clean and attractive and have good Wi-Fi signals. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a huge choice of hot and cold items, including foods suitable for people with special diets. I was surprised to find that even champagne was on offer! The staff in the dining room were very attentive and the room was kept clean and tidy throughout my stay. I met some very nice people which was great for a solo traveller. This gave me companionship on a couple of days and someone to eat breakfast with on another day. Discussions were very interesting. it was lovely to come back after being out one day to find a plate of fresh fruit in the room. Another day I was given a small bottle of Madeira wine when I made enquiries about the apartments available and the arrangements. It was very nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room with a variety of beverages available. Also great to have a small fridge.

I found the mattress rather hard and I would’ve liked to have a softer thin mattress topper. I found the pillows too deep and I would have preferred a thinner pillow. I used a cushion from the chaise longue. The room requires some minor refurbishment of one green wall which has several scuffed and grubby marks on it and the light proof curtains were damaged in the area where they would be pulled by guests. My major concern was that I locked my patio door to the adjacent garden right outside every day before leaving. On my return, I found that the door was unlocked and very slightly open every day. This was a security risk but nothing was taken during the week of my stay and valuables were kept in the safe.

The rooms are spacious, beautiful sea view, walking distance to the city centre. Great to have an indoor swimming pool when it’s too cold to use the outdoor swimming pool.

The breakfast was delicious at the beginning but no change in the menu. We stayed four nights. After eating the same food two days in a row, we lost our appetite.

The hotel was beautiful, very modern and great breakfast, the room was big and comfortable.

It is definitely not cheap, considering that they have a spa and a gym included it’s a good value and kids can stay for free.

Booked 2 normal rooms, with or without sea view, tey gave us 2 rooms in level -1, at the level og the garage!!! with windows that had to stay closed because of direct access by public sidewalk! Not the level of rooms that you expect in a 4 star resort

Perfectly located hotel with very polite and friendly staff. Warm welcome with a glass of madeira wine and fruit basket next day on return to the room. A pleasant surprise. Very good breakfast with a plenty of choices. Also includes the traditional pastry Everyone can find something for him/her-self. Wonderful pool area with a nice view to the ocean. The restaurant has a nice view and feels very warm and comfortable including extraordinary nice and friendly staff. From the hotel are just a few minutes of walk to the nearby restaurants and bars located at the beachside. There is direct access to the promenade, parking and bus station is located around the corner.

The room we got was in the basement with typical smell of mold, dampness and parallel to the main promenade. This is a huge drawback as the terrace is open to the public and absolutely no privacy is offered. It is not possible to leave the blind open neither over the day nor over the night to get fresh air. People are constantly walking by and talking loudly, laughing or running which is extremely disturbing at night. I will never choose this hotel again if those rooms will be offered again. Be careful and ask before arriving. This is the reason for the reduced rating and spoiled impression. I suggest that this part of the hotel accommodations should never be offered to anyone, and it is totally inappropriate for hotel of this range
