the beds were a bit uncomfy

Location was perfect in the center of Oldtown. Breakfast had great variety. Roof top pool and bar was exceptional. Room was very clean and comfortable.

Clean and comfortable. The breakfast had an enormous selection of goodies. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. The location was great - close to many restaurants and shops. Highly recommend staying here.

Location was fantastic. Very close to the water and good restaurants, shopping and easy pick up for tour activities. I also enjoyed the roof top pool

Inside the rooms, there were many light switches and some of them would turn off all the lights including the bathroom at once.

Amazing location in the center of Funchal, with probably the most comfortable bed I ever slept on, amazing rooftop with nice pool, chill vibes and beautiful views over the hills and the cathedral, great breakfast with a good variety of breads and pastries.

Location was amazing with everything within walking distance. Breakfast was fantastic! Lots of hot and cold options with a station that cooked eggs and omelets anyway you wanted. The staff was super helpful and friendly and the hotel was super clean and beautiful! The rooftop pool and patio was gorgeous, but often difficult to find a place to sit since it was always very busy. Loved every minute of our stay!

Location was amazing! Breakfast was very good but I’ve had better / more options at other five star hotels in Portugal before. Housekeeping did an amazing job and they were very friendly!

Very small gym with late opening time. Somewhat small pool given the number of rooms/ guest but understand that you have to compromise on some things given the location in town. Thanks!

The front desk staff were so nice! They treated my children so well. Breakfast was giant and filled with a variety of things. I'm sure everyone will find something there! Rooms were nice and mini bar was available.

Nothing they can control but no parking.

This hotel is within walking distance to lots of restaurants and things to do. The marina , cr7 museum, tuk tuk rides , cable car , churches and lots more.

Great location in Oldtown. Very comfortable room and overall nice facilities. Awesome views from both the room and rooftop.

There was an awful sewage smell in our rooms upon checking in. We had to ask a couple of times for it to be addressed and then we were finally moved to another smaller room, but the room rate stayed the same.

For a five star hotel it lacked some amenities. For example each day they did clean the room but did not change the sheets or towels.

Loved the location of hotel, good breakfast. Enjoyed my 4 day stay. Not warm enough for me to swim in pool. Rooftop was beautiful.

Struggled to turn off a bedside light each night. Maybe don't turn those on at turn down.

Staff was very polite, helpfull and friendly. Breakfast excellent. Bed was big and comfy. Everywhere was clean. Hotel lacation is perfect to catch a bus or taxi or going for a walk. Around hotel there are some restaurants/cafes, souvenir shops, shops, park, port.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Barcelo Funchal Oldtown hotel and had a wonderful experience. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The service was amazing, with the staff taking care of our needs to make our stay enjoyable. Additionally, the breakfast was very good, offering a variety of delicious options to start the day right.The hotel's location is perfect, situated in the center of the old town. There are plenty of restaurants and bars around, making it easy to explore and enjoy the local cuisine and nightlife.I would like to especially thank the Guest Experience Manager, Carolina. She was extremely helpful and fulfilled all our wishes, making our stay even more memorable.Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, comfort, excellent service, great breakfast, and ideal location and outstanding guest experience.

First-floor rooms can be noisy due to nearby bars and restaurants.

Location perfect. Charming hotel, comfortable, clean and smart. Breakfast very good and reataurant as well. Would definitly stay there agan.
