Pros +
- The surrounding botanic gardens
- Quality of service and personal attention by the staff.
- The gardens, pool, food, service and massage were all exceptional. We stayed for three nights but the hotel is so relaxing we felt as if we were there for a week.
Cons -
- Wifi connexion on the suite?s balcony could have been better.
- It is above Funchal, maybe 35 minutes' walk uphill from the street with the best restaurants. You may want to take a taxi at the end of the day.
- I think the food was great however if staying any time it’s good to try different restaurants , the staff will recommend and the shuttle takes you down town .It is quite a way from town centre , too far to walk .

This is such a beautiful hotel that I can't express with words. Very nice and comfortable room, amazing garden (much more beautiful than botanical or other gardens in funchal). What impressed me besides the beauty of the hotel was very high standard of service combined with attention and kindness of the staff. The best hotel I have stayed (I have been in a lot of very good hotels)I Looking forward to come back soon.
The people, the surrounding gardens, and the meal service were all wonderful. Felt like home.
The gardens are a paradise of flowers and trees and birdsong. It feels like staying in a country house. There is a real feeling of the history of the place. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly.

Lovely hotel in amazing large grounds , staff were fantastic in many ways . So helpful with suggestions etc.Room spacious and lovely terrace . Pool just right .

Wow…what a beautiful property! It is more than just a place to stay, it is also a tour theough an amazing botanical garden! The grounds are superb, the tortoise, Colombo is sweet, the food is fabulous, the view of Funchal is amazing, the rooms are spacious and lovely, the staff is professional and helpful…it is a wonderful place to stay!!!
Courteous service, excellent staff, clean, gives a true vacation feeling.
The room was big and airy with the balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens. Cleaned every day to very high standard. Staff were friendly and very helpful at all times. Breakfast was incredible.
Shame it's up a hill, but that's Funchal! Need a taxi to get to town but that wasn't a problem as Bolt was very quick and the hotel had a free shuttle bus during the day.
In good situation high above Funchal town .The property has extensive well planted and maintained gardens that you can wander around at ease . A well situated swimming pool that was heated .
The hotel is just lovelyThe surrounding gardens are exquisite and we really appreciated the plant guide providedThe staff are wonderful and couldn't be more helpful
The shuttle bus was great, would have been good to have one or 2 evening servicesWe found the meals lacked something.. but maybe that's just us!
Beautiful gardens with breakfast outside and a large turtle named Colombo that you can pet. Fantastic pool if the weather is warm enough.
There was no air conditioning as advertised. The decor lacked warmth. For the price, I expected a very inviting lobby and bar area. It was far from that. It would take much to soften the place and make it warm and cozy and inviting. Also, they open up all of the windows early in the morning so the hotel is very cold. I actually had to wear my coat to breakfast to eat inside.
Quinta Jardins do Lago is a haven of tranquillity in a busy city. The gardens are simply beautiful. There is a lovely pool, wonderful staff and comfortable rooms. What's not to like?
The hotel facilities were very good, together with excellent pool and gardens. Breakfasts were always a time to indulge. .
The dinners were not always as good as one would have expected from a hotel of this quality.
Lovely big room with balcony . The hotel has only 40 rooms do felt more like a private house . Beautiful gardens, super pool.. Was sad to leave ?
Loved it all
Beautiful pool, although I didn’t swim. Room splendid, though separate shower would have made it perfect.Breakfast outside was the very best, fresh fruit, yogurt, fruit juice, cold meats, cheese, delicious breads, cakes and still more fruits. Also a wide variety of hot dishes with eggs, smoked salmon, pancakes and even porridge. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Separate shower in bathroom. Unlimited supply of drinking water in room and on dinner table.
Clean, beautiful views, beautiful and well kept grounds, staff clearly take pride in the hotel. Staff were welcoming, attentive and accommodating.
The beautiful gardens and pool area, the history of the Quinta, the views and the spacious comfortable rooms. The staff were most welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful.
It would have been lovely to have been in the old part of the Quinta rather than the new wing, but the room was still very nice with a little terrace and lovely views over the gardens and Funchal town.
Staff were very friendly, efficient and accommodating of my husbands dietary requirements.Breakfast was excellent with a lot of choice.
I think the dinner menus could have been varied a little during the 10 days we stayed. The hotel was a little far from town to be able to go in and out more than once a day. That is obviously not your fault!
