Pros +
- The spa is wonderful, the staff, rooms. Everything is fabulous.
- Poor value for money, opt for Les Suites service and boutique feel with better amenities
- We had an incredible stay. The grounds are absolutely spectacular, and both the main pool and the rooftop pool with its bar were highlights of our trip. Everything is so well maintained, and the service throughout the property is exceptional.A special mention goes to the concierge, Antonio Sousa, who went above and beyond to help us plan leisure activities. We visited all of the places he recommended, including some of the island’s hidden gems, and each experience was amazing. He was attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in making sure our trip was unforgettable. His attention to detail and warm approach made us feel truly cared for.We would highly recommend this hotel
Cons -
- No. Everything was fantastic
- The fridge was broken, the service was mediocre at best especially compared to Les suites/Cliff Bay. They wanted to charge 5EURO for ice to the room. The elevator keys do not work and it takes several swiping attempts in order to get to your desired floor. Our room smelled of musty fish because there were leftovers from the prior guests left in the fridge (which was not working). We had a late check in guaranteed, yet the front desk seemed to forget about it upon our late check out. The floors had carpet throughout common spaces which made it difficult to roll luggage. The rooftop pool left much to be desired as it did not have a direct view of the ocean. We booked a 600USD Room and the room did not even include breakfast! Absolutely unheard of in Funchal to not include breakfast.
- They charged amendment fee when flight was unable to land due to wind

The Staff - particularly the doormen & breakfast staff were super friendly.
We were never told that you had to hold your room card against the scanner until it turned green. Stood in the elevator without it moving until we finally figured things out. Never informed that you need your room card to access the hotel from the garage. We paid over $500/ night for 4 nights.+2000EU$The $5 charge for a small bucket of ice was Outrageous!
Welcoming lobby, beautiful ambiance
Large not warm and cozy . Not all staff were friendly . Had to leave down payment to borrow an umbrella . My friend had two single beds when requested king . We were gone all day back at 5:00 and room still not cleaned . Breakfast was very repetitive and food never hot . For the price we paid for our stay very disappointing
Grand and luxurious hotel down to every beautiful detail. Large and very comfortable room with great view from the balcony Lovely pool and spa. Walking distance to many fabulous restaurants
The hotel and rooms were beautiful, spacious, and clean, with an amazing view. Breakfast was delicious and varied. One of the highlights was the concierge team—special thanks to John and Bruno—who helped us plan our trips for three days and even arranged a rental car at a great rate.
The reception staff had a strange attitude and didn’t seem welcoming. We also struggled to get basic amenities like water, which felt frustrating given the room rate. Additionally, when my sister requested a bathrobe, it arrived with a large tear in the middle.
Beautiful place, very nice people, amazing pool, great restaurants and breakfast
Everything was great (pancakes at breakfast were subpar, minor detail)
beautiful, modern room with a beautiful view to the port. comfortable beds, excellent breakfast. The restaurants at the hotel were wonderful. excellent facilities (heated indoor pool, game room, fitness room etc).
a little bit over priced.
This was our 2nd stay at Savoy Palace and we love this hotel for the following reasons: Superb customer service, amazing room, good location and exceptional pools/facilities. Right when we arrive, the concierge was very welcoming and directed us how/where to park our rental car (considering we haven't checked-in yet). He provided a temporary key card to the parking garage. Front desk staff was also welcoming and accommodating. She answered some of my questions such as nearest church and activities happening at the city center.
None. I wish I could stay here for a month!
Amazing breakfast - vast choice in beautiful outside poolside location.
Passable
Extra cost for spa and all complicated timetable for different areas, when you paying that price for the room you don't have to bother yourself to pay any extra for sauna and jacuzzi
On arrival, staff took our luggage and gave us a keycard to access the private parking. Our bags were then taken to our rooms after checking in. The view from our room was amazing, however it does not compare to view from the rooftop bar! Breakfast was amazing and the staff were exceptional. Overall 10/10 stay.
Our only complaint was that the hot water was not consistent.
Except Andre from reception and some of valet service the majority of staf he was not cheerfull and sympathetic. The breakfast quality was not at the level of a 5 star hotel.Room cleaning was below average and superficial. In our first trip we are inthusiast at Savoy Palace ,this time is a big deception. We have saddened by such a negative change in one year. But in any case Madeira is a amazing island.
The location is ideal for exploring Madeira. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was excellent you couldn’t wish for more.We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday, on returning to the room we found champagne on ice and a lovely cake, such a wonderful touch.Would certainly recommend The Savoy Palace.
Ideally would like a mirror over the table to enable more comfort when styling hair.
Fabulous hotel with wow factor at every turn! We loved the five star service and welcome, the beautiful spa and pool and great restaurants. Highly recommended.
Luxus hotel with fantastic breakfast, very good SPA, excellent restaurants.
The wardrobe for clothes is too small for a couple staying for 1 week and more.
This is a beautiful property. Quite extravagant and expansive. The pool area is beautiful and the brunch was excellent. The views are superb if you get an ocean room. Gym is open 24 hours. Most of the staff are very friendly and professional. Coffee and water replenish daily in your room.
Spa is not included. €40 a person is way too expensive. Pool is not heated so basically unuseable in March. Room service was extremely expensive as well. Sky pool is difficult to access, and the restaurant really doesn’t seem to want you there.
Excellent selection of hot and cold breakfast food
Half of the fruit was under-ripe. The fried eggs, even when just delivered from the kitchen were cool to cold. The scrambled egg looked unappetising - a number of guests took a look but I didn't see anyone take any.
