Nice breakfast very clean nice shower

They stuck me in the basement « economy room »…and it was about a 30 minute walk to anything Neither was a major issue

The beds were comfortable for 1 night stay.

The family room was a little bit too small for 2 adults and 2 kids. It had basic facilities. I would have loved to find some cutlery like little spoons for tea, coffee etc. There was coffee in the room, sugar and tea maker, but the spoons were really missed. One chair really needs replacement, it is too old and unsafe.

Great location, easy parking, very clean, nice breakfast, extremely helpful staff.

I believe the excellent coffee machine deserves a better coffee bland.

After the booking I started to have a lot of phishing tentative on booking account, a lot of messages "like from the hotel", seems that the hotel account is hacked. The sheets was not clean unfortunately & we must to pay for parking, I cannot understand why they didn't included in the room rate.

The ladies who work there, Aneta's been an amazing host since the first time we went and she always welcomes us with open arms and is super kind and friendly. Location is great for a morning or evening walk into the centre or areas around for places like Martini (the original) Horizont and obviously the beach.Rooms are always equipped and the shower and bathroom in general are spotless and spacious with a awesome shower. Room 103 is our go to every time.We had breakfast this time and it was tasty and warm. Nice to have some traditional BG choices (lukanka, sirene, kashkaval) and croissants. Parking is safe and secure.

LeavingIt's a shame about the potholes outside the hotel though, but that's not their land to fix. Just a Bulgarian thing sadly..

When we arrived the hotel, nobody was there. A visitor that checked out the hotel helped me to communicate with hotel during the check-in process. As a result, it was not like a hotel, I felt it as a hostel.

Don't book the the top floor room with sea view and a balcony because it is not available (as of August 2024) but yo

We decided to book a more expensive larger room on the top floor with sea view and a balcony. Due to issue with this room (bad smell) we were downgraded upon arrival to a small room without sea view or a balcony but still asked to pay the more expensive rate when checking out. I tried to explain to the reception why we should not have to pay this much but due to language barriers I was unsuccessful and I didn't want to spent my vacations arguing via Google Translate.

The room and bathroom were very clean, the bed and pillows were soft and comfortable.The staff was very friendly.Breakfeast was with different types of cheese, vegetables, yogurt, milk, juice etc.The parking is big enough to contain all the cars of the guests.The location is great: in a beautiful park, behind the dolphinarium, close to the beach (10 min of walking), with restaurants/bars/supermarket in the area and very close to the bus station.

The host was really nice, the location was great, it was clean and the room was lovely.

Just missing a bar to have a glass while sitting in the garden area. It seems they did not keep the bar when they renovated the hotel

Disappointing

There was humidity in the room. It was noisy because of its location at the basement and next to the kitchen and other service rooms. We were hearing noise very early in the morning, as somebody was preparing the breakfast. Very bad experience. This is not appropriate to be used as a room. Finally, it is very expensive for what it is. This shows total disrespect for your clients.

This is our fourth time at Hotel Duchess and as always, we are greeted with love, care and flexibility.The location is perfect, having a combination of quietness in the sea garden and access to the beach with a short stroll.The rooms are clean, spacious and relaxing with a great Aircon. I love how spacious the showers are, especially after the heat we got there for the 17 days (37c)Key access in and out of the business is super handy so you can come and go as you please.I can't recommend this place enough and can't wait to be back there in a few months to see those happy faces.

Nothing. Well, stopping myself from drooling with the amazing smell of the croissants ?

Literally in the park. Close to decent but not the best restaurants, 20 min to great beach, no need to pass through the city.Clean bathroom.Nice outside terrace to chill and talk in the evening. Usually empty.Towels and bed do get changed.

I don't even know where to start: (standard double room, 5 nights, 2nd floor).- very small room, probably at most 12sqm. Cannot open window because it hits the bed. Cannot open fridge door because it hits the window in the opposite direction. Spider webs at 2 room corners. Multiple hairs on the bed. Bed frame dirty by some unknown yellow substance, I was praying it was some food or juice. Never seen all of these before simultaneously, regardless of price.- dried mold on room corners, bloated paint just above your head where you sleep. Unclear if it is healthy to sleep there.- no net at window, meaning: 2 out of 5 nights we woke up with large spiders on the ceiling just above our heads. Mosquitos. Ants in bathroom.- very very humid (hence the mold). no chance but to leave window opened all day. When we arrived the floor was washed and wet and window closed. Nice tropical simulator.- Even if it is in the park, no chance to sleep with window opened due to noise coming from high speed street about 20m from hotel.- Total staff: 2 aging ladies, that know zero words and 5-10 words in english respectively. The receptionist is also the cook. Poorest breakfast I've ever seen. Omelette? Cremwurst? Hot vegetables? Forget about all that. Kitchen sink in "dining hall" with you (garbage can under), with the receptionist cutting up a cucumber, melon, etc, when the 1 plate is empty.- Was asked out of the blue for 10leva/day for parking, at checkout, without being informed at check in. Somehow the receptionist/cook let me leave before paying this money because I had the reservation done through Booking.This is not a 3 star hotel, is a very mediocre 2 star hotel. If it were the only place I could stay in Varna, I would stay home.Unclear to me how so many people reviewed this hotel so highly, maybe the other rooms were better. But when peaking through the doors, they looked the same, and were cleaned by the same lady.

Good place for couples. Continental breakfast. The hotel is in the nature near the delphinarium. The beach is 10 min walk away. The room is nice and clean.

The road to the hotel very bad and the signs aren’t enough good.
