Family hotel The Castle

It is a decent family hotel with good restaurant. It was obvious the facilities have seen a lot and are (over)due for some renovation but for its money it was ok. We spent only 1night so did not need much. Staff was kind and helpful, food at restaurant was good although the establishment was full and had to wait a little too much. Overall no bad surprises, so we can consider it good choice for the price.

There was outlet only on one wall of the room so we had to had turns to charge our phones or disconnect the mini bar. Mini bar was empty by the way, no water even which would have been appreciated even if for an additional price after a long journey.

Location is great, the hotel is nice and cozy. The rooms have comfy beds and the hotel's restaurant is AMAZING (not to be confused with the breakfast menu) - huge assortment, real quality work by the chef, great value for money!We got a free upgrade for both of our rooms, which was a nice gesture on their end! :)

The breakfast was a bit too contrasting to the amazing dinner we had.

The bathroom furniture was a bit old, the TV position in the room was weird. A more giant TV would be better.

Hospitality was good, staff with a service mind and good attitude, quiet hotel, special location. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast included a boiled egg, yellow cheese, vegetables, bread, jam, butter and a hot drink. It was good and tasty.

Breakfast very limited and coffee poor. Difficult to find with a number walking near by not knowing of the hotel.

A very dangerously placed TV which we banged our heads on a number of times.Area pleasant to walk around and historic sites to visit.

The location of the hotel is perfect. The hotel provides you with a useful map of Shumen. The breakfast is correct and solid. Someone told me it is a typical breakfast of commie times. :D The garden location for the breakfast is very nice.It is a small hotel and I didn’t need to take 23 lifts or stairs to get to my room.My room was pretty clean.The staff was ready to help, the communication very to the point.

The breakfast is every day the same and you just get what is being served. Personally I don’t care much but I mention this for those who are more sensitive about this issue.The room is small and the bathroom is almost as big as the room. The tap in the bathroom is too big and a hindrance since the sink is pretty low. I found this very awkward. The shower head holder is not practical. Taking a shower hands free is difficult.

The rooms and the bathrooms are nice and clean, the breakfest was good and the staff was always ready to help.

Was a great room with a lovely outside restaurant area. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was supplied with all you would need. The sitting area was comfortable with a view of the city.

Situated less than 5 minutes walk from the pedestrian street and all it's facilities this Hotel is a little Gem. My room was larger than i expected, immaculately presented, functional and very comfy. the restaurant is good with a varied selection of food and drinks. Included breakfast is traditional Balkanska, perfect and filling for the day ahead. With adequate free parking i give this hotel top marks for everything. Thank you.

the rooms where very clean and the personal was very nice to us, we really appreciated the fact that they waited for us to arrive even though we arrived after the reception closed. very kind and nice, the rooms are spacious and clean. we stayed the night in our way to sunny beach, everything was perfect, we loved our stay and will be returning every time we’ll get the chance to travel to Bulgaria, for sure.

No kettle in the room Needs updating - looking tired and neglected. Just some fresh paint would help.

The place is clean,staff so friendly.A big thanks to Paulina,whom was so helpful -particularly with that medical help ,she'll know what i mean..She was very charming ,you will do well to keep her..I cannot find anything to fault.

Disappointing!

We arrived late in the evening, there was no hot water in the bathroom! After an ice cold shower, a very hard , tilted, uncomfortable bed awaited us to sleep on with windows which wouldn’t close! We got hot water in the morning thankfully, followed by a terrible breakfast! We will not be staying here again!

The receptionist was extremely friendly and tried to do her best to make our stay as much comfortable as possible.

Rooms were a little old but we stayed for one night and it was ok for us.

Very quietly location near to the center of the town.

On 3rd floor without a lift, but with luggage in both hands. Shower was brocken. A smell from the kitchen on the stairs.

Last-minute booking via the app for the same night.Perfect location, very close to city center. Parking available in front of the hotel. Lovely inner garden where breakfast can be served.Friendly staff, with a smile always on their face. We had a 3 year old screeming kid with us and they shared with him a big elephant toy to cuddle and play with. It was a working day, there were not many visitors so the restaurant worked only for us for dinner and for breakfast.

Warmly welcoming, polite and nice staff. Much more cam be expected for the facility.

The rooms need more maintenance. Not much sound insulated.
