    Pros +

    • Location. Fantastic staff.
    • very huge variety and choice for breakfast, everything is high quality rooms are spacious, bathrooms are very nice and terraces are beautifulhad access to 3 pools, highly recommend a Persian pool, it's a hidden gem
    • Excellent stay — stunning ocean views, exceptional service, and great dining options. Truly lives up to the Ritz-Carlton standard.

    Cons -

    • Pool should be heated. Furniture equipments at the rooms not as expected from ritz, a bit old. Room doesn't have heater.
    • No complaints
    • Service was very disappointing. Got “upgraded” to same room we had actually booked. Then got told we couldn’t use the pool directly outside our room as was adults only. So we went to the family pool to be questioned why we were there as we should be using the room outside our room. This went on for 3 days until eventually allowed to use the pool outside the room. Went for a drink in hotel bar. Guy sat us down, then nobody came near us for 20 minutes so just left.

Staff at el mirador and housekeeping were great but others let it down badly.

The architecture of this hotel is amazing - and the view to La Gomera through lots of well kept palm trees is blissful. The property has been expanded over the years and is pretty big now, but the staff were incredible.

It's now just a little big - and the cost of food and drink is quite high. The elevator to the beach was broken.

Fantastic room sizes. Nice location and connection with abama golf club.

The hotel is tired. The pools were in poor condition. The pricing is excessive. The hotel is currently targeting large private bookings either business delegation +200 people and weddings. This impacts staffing levels, services and ambience.

I like the Club retreat rooms and how there is food and drink available all day free of charge but I’m aware one pays a supplement for this

Too many old people and service this time wasn’t as good. Think hotel is so enormous and feel it’s lost its intimacy.

    almost everything was AMAZING.

the pool was soooo cold. (start of March) really few people got inside... I execpt from this luxury hotel to heat the pool to a nice temprature so we can easily go in and enjoys it. (as we had in other luzury hotels)

From the amazing staff to the beautiful smell of lilies around the hotel - superb and perfect stay! Loved the pools, the cafes, the bars and restaurants. The room was comfortable with nice architecture and materials.

    It was pretty

The first evening we arrived we went to El Mirador for dinner where we were served uncooked prawns. Unfortunately I didn’t notice this until I took the head off the second one meaning I’ve had food poising all weekend and not been able to eat or drink anything. This meant I had to cancel our reservation for the next night at the 2 Michelin star restaurant but when I told the reception desk what had happened they told me I would still have to pay a fee. I contested this and they said they would speak to the manager and call me back, they never did so I had to go back again (very sick at this point) and repeat my request. Eventually this was resolved. However, when I asked to see a medic or doctor they told me I would have to pay a fee and the toast and tea they said would be sent to my room, never arrived. On the second day we visited the pool and ordered some drinks, after an hour another waiter came to us to ask if we wanted any drinks and we told him we were still waiting on the ones we ordered an hour ago. I’ve also witnessed staff smoking around the pool even though it’s a non-smoking hotel, saw a chef come to a life guard to patch up a cut on his hand. Our room was cleaned but we were left with no glasses or cups for tea or coffee. When I called to have our room service tray picked up after we were done with it, no one arrived. And the final cherry on the cake… when I went to reception to speak to a manager about all of this, they were “in a meeting and would call me back.” There was no call and it took me contacting Marriott head office to finally get to speak to a manager who did his best to make it up to us however not before telling me staff had been having the same stomach issues. This was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip to one of the best hotels in the world which my friend and I saved hard for so we could enjoy. I am thoroughly disappointed and can safely say I will not be visiting this hotel again or recommending it to anyone.

Absolutely beautiful building. So much to explore.

Food and drink everywhere was extremely average and over priced.

    friendliness of staff

first room sinks were full of dirty water and the plugs didn't work. Coffee machine broken. changed room eventually but lost 1/2 day of our holiday waiting for things to be sortedRidiculous cost of food, all restaurants are vastly over-priced and the food quality in most apart from the Italian was very poor given each meal was around £100 for two

Absolutely STUNNING resort! Clean and accessible, staff were amazing; polite and very attentive

    - A few times housekeeping forgot the complementary waters- Perhaps the resort could do more local cuisine? The fine dining is lovely but slightly lacking in variety

Incredible breakfast buffet with everything you could ever want, amazing architecture, great pools and spa, rooms are beautiful.

We had breakfast at both the Retreat premises (Mirador) and at the Citadel. Although the first had better views, I found the latter to be richer and more varied. The staff were super nice all over the premises. We did have a small issue regarding our booking and it took the Reception quite some time to address it, but it was all ok in the end. The hotel has a very interesting architecture, the cocktails we ordered at the main lounge were all very good, as well as the ones served by the pool. Dinner at Txoko was good, while nothing special. We liked both our rooms (one with a sea view) and another one @The Retreat. Both had a nice decor, super comfy beds, and a lot of space. Beware though, that at The Retreat, the lane of villas we were allocated to (the first lane, with Rooms starting 100...109) was facing a pool where there were families with babies and toddlers, which was ok for us because we don't mind children playing at the pool, and these ones were quite well behaved :). We love children and we are not bothered but if all quiet and peace is what you're after, you should keep this in mind and ask the Reception to book you in the next two rows of villas downwards, which were adult-only.

The pool villa schedule could be prolonged for an hour or more, at least at the adult-only areas. The current time-table is from 10:00 to 18:00.

The hotel is massive and beautiful, many facilities and also the staff go an extra mile and made me feel very special on my birthday.

A bit far from shops / Las Americas, but very nice drive.

Hotel have a lot of potential interesting planing and design.Breakfast was ok.

Staff is not suitable for this 5 star hotel.Arrogant staff and feels like they are above guest.I have been in many 5 star hotels and in all of them you feel good. As example when we checked in we where not offered wellcome drink i had to ask if they serve in this hotel after long face and fake smile i was answered that i can have water or cava. At check out i have not been asked how was our stay that is standard in any 5 star hotels. For amount we have spend we could get better feeling in other hotels as royal river or hideway corales in tenerife.

Beautiful property, well located. Architecture and plants arrangements are top notch. Plenty of food options both in and close to the resort.

The staff was not up to the level we expected. We often felt like we were bothering them when asking for something, that they had somewhere else to be. This is particularly true of the breakfast staff and the spa staff. I have been to 3-star hotels with more professional and friendly staff. There were exceptions, staff at the mirador restaurant was mostly great. Earlier in the year we stayed at the tivoli, and staff much friendlier. They didn’t make us didn’t feel like we were asking for an outrageous favor when we were asking for a second cup of coffee at breakfast. The property could also use better upkeep and cleaning. And lastly, the resort is really lacking a hot pool somewhere outside. The tivoli has one in the center and it is great, while the ritz only has one in the paid spa. It would be great to at least have a hot tub.

pool, snacks, lunch and very friendly staff! We very much enjoyed ourselves!

The vegetarian restaurant was not on a par with the other restaurants we visited in as much that the vegetarian (main)courses sounded better on the page than on the plate. The staff was very friendly though!

The property itself was clean, the rooms were modern and spacious. Diptique toiletries were also a nice touch. The restaurants were very good, but book well in advance.

The property was fine, the staff were the issue. On arriving, it took 30 mins to get to the front of the reception queue, then another 20 minutes to check-in, then another 20 minutes to get to the room - because of the size of the property, it’s like a maze - it’s almost impossible to find your room, without getting lost (literally no porters or staff to help) after an hour or so in the room, we then had to go back to reception to collect our bags that were taken off us on arrival, and were still on the kerb outside. Other than staff in the restaurants, I didn’t come across a single member of staff who was helpful. Also, a personal preference….there’s no evening entertainment, which was a little disappointing. I’ll stick to the hotels around Costa Adeje in future…
