Hotel Capital in Yamagata

The staff were very polite, the breakfast was very good, the room was quite standard and comfortable and mostly clean.

The area didn't seem to be convenient to anything, it was quite expensive considering there was an extra charge for both breakfast and parking (about 50 metres away) and the room had a sticky stain on the carpet next to the bar fridge. The power socket near the bar fridge didn't seem to work either and there was no socket in the bathroom for a hair dryer. The table lamp on the desk didn't seem to work (at least in the morning) and nor did the main light (I used the table lamp on the bed).

Everything was of a very high quality for the price. The room was very cosy and had great air conditioning/heating, the bathroom was clean and had everything I needed, and there was even a lovely desk with a window view of the city. Travelling over I had a significant delay due to trains being cancelled as a result of a power outage, and the hotel staff were very understanding, allowing me to arrive slightly later than the original check-in time. I also had a late train on my check-out day and they let me leave my bag at the hotel for a few hours in a secure area, which was very kind.

Nothing comes to mind. The price is very reasonable for what it is, but I am used to staying in hostels and paying less. (This was the cheapest room I could find).

A short walk from Yamagata station, I had a comfortable stay. Staff is very kind and helpful, 英語お上手. Basic amenities provided, aircon works well. Wifi is fast which is nice for telework.

Comfy beds, nice staff, could leave my luggage before check-in and aftrt check-out, was real close to the station and everything you could need! Laundry room without the risk of anybody snagging your clothes. Loved it!

I liked how close it was to the city. The beds were quite comfortable.

I found it odd that the sauna was only for men. I also found it odd that the hotel required us to take photocopies of our personal ID cards, despite it being illegal in Japan. They said it was for foreigners but I live in Japan, and am a resident. All the other people I know who used this hotel were "foreigners living in Japan" so I don't know if they made Japanese people do this too. The hotel also said masks on at all times, but didn't tell any customers waiting in the lobby to put on masks. It made me feel a bit uncomfortable.

They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early. We got to hotel before check-in time and I didn’t wanna wait. The sevice was exceptional as well. Would definitely send a friend there.
