Dormy Inn Akita

Bed was comfy, softer than the average business hotel bed. I especially liked the extra door separating the sleeping area from the shower/entry area. Dormy Inn amenities were excellent. The sento has a very nice view of the city.

Price structure is odd. Ended up booking 3 single rooms for 3 adults as it was significantly cheaper than any other available options. Not really a negative as we all enjoyed a night to ourselves but still odd.

Clean, comfortable rooms with extra blankets and pillows. Thoughtful touches, like free toothrbrushes, combs, shavers, etc. There was even a manga library and free popcycles outside the onsen. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was located close to the train station and the beautiful Senshu Park. We also appreciated that our room had its own private bathroom/shower.

The breakfast was just OK.

The location is pretty convenient to Akita Station. The single room was a typical size; the bed was very comfortable. All my favorite Dormy features were there: friendly reception staff, rooftop sento (bath), free ice cream, free late-night ramen, free treat in the fridge, self laundry. They held my bag for me after checkout.

The staff was kind and accommodating - they responded to my requests promptly and compassionately. The rooms were nice, as was the location! I especially liked the hot bath on the 11F; you could see a beautiful outlook of Akita while relaxing.

Honestly, I had a great time. I accidentally booked the semi-double not thinking about how small it was for two people, but that's on me.

We had their breakfast buffet on our last morning before we checked out, it was nice and a very decent spread (if you have stayed in Business Hotels in Japan, it is similar to that). Their toothbrushes are so good.. Rooms were once again exceptional, although no bathtub in the rooms (only showers), there's always onsen baths available at Dormy Inn. Free Yakult in the morning, Free mini drink bar and ICE CREAM in the afternoon, and Complimentary Ramen at night,If you love free things, just book a stay here, you won't be disappointed!

Akita's Dormy Inn didn't have as good English-speaking staff as compared to the other ones I've stayed at, but a simple Google Translate would do the job. They also don't allow people with tattoos into the Onsen, but they do have stickers available for you to cover up so you can enter the bath :>

Location to the train station was a short 4 minute walk. The staff was acccompdating. My dinner restaurant was a 1 minute walk. The whole Dormy Inn concept was good before, but has definitely gotten much more solid. I was surprised at the variety of the seasonal and regional breakfast choices.Please keep up the good hard work!!

No bar lounge. lobby lounge was too small no cozy seating area. Restaurant not available all day. Rooms were too small, no place to put luggage.

There were a good variety to choose from. I like to see a bit more western style of baked goods.a little bit more fruits. Thank.

The rooms were fantastic. The onsen was perfect after a long day of traveling. The staff were very helpful (they spoke English). We were very impressed with the number of complimentary things available: toothbrushes and toothpaste, a free bowl of ramen after 9:30pm, complementary snacks/drinks after the onsen, pajamas (robes) which you can wear around the hotel and onsen. They even had umbrellas we could borrow for the day since it was raining pretty heavy. Excellent place and excellent stay. Having travelled many places in the world and stayed in many hotels, this has to be the best one by far (and I am also including significantly more expensive places as well).

Breakfast is good. Free noodles in the evening. Laundry is free. Dryer service is cheap.

Double bed is really too small for a couple.

Fairly close to Akita station (7-10min by foot). There’s a public bath with an outdoor space where you can enjoy hot spring bath with crisp cold air and open sky.

The public bath didn’t have towels in changing room, and you need to bring your towels from your room. I wish they told me this at check-in as I had to go back to pick up mine.

Excellent facilities; very spacious and comfortable room; onsen was terrific; little extras provided like complimentary water and ice creams; really great staff who were very helpful; special thanks to staff who helped me with my mobility issues by providing a trolley at breakfast and arranging extra table space for me.
