    Pros +

    • There is public bath available Laundry facilities are also available
    • The Riverge Akebono is a nice hotel on the banks of the River Asuwa. There is ample parking, and during our stay in early April superb views of the sakura across the river. My wife greatly enjoyed the onsen facilities. There was a minor mix up with our room, so we had to move rooms on the final day of our stay. The management was very apologetic and gave us a free seven course dinner to compensate, and didn't charge us for parking. The Asuwa Shrine is and easy walk up the hill from the hotel.
    • The breakfast was great with lots of choices, both Japanese and western. We didnt need lunch that day. It was raining so it was nice to have a good grill restaurant just across the street, and the parking was covered.

    Cons -

    • The room is very small. The hotel is quite a distance away from Fukui station
    • The sofa was very low down, and rather dusty, which made me sneeze.
    • Like all Japanese hotels the pillows are very hard so I end up sleeping with no pillow.

It was wonderful. Room was a good size, nice staff, good location, and the breakfast was great.

Nothing. Maybe a little traffic noise outside, but its on a quiet street so it wasnt really a problem.

The breakfast is out of this world. So delicious! the public bath was also wonderful and the room was clean and great. The bed was actually very comfortable as far as Japanese hotel beds go!

Room was small but clean and has everything you need, tea bags, a kettle, a hair dryer, TV, room wears, so on. Amazing breakfast! Enjoyed yummy and fresh food with lots of choices.

Though the Public baths are on the top of the building, you cant see the view form there. In the changing room of the public bath, the floor around mirrors was dirty with black mold which I didnt want my barefoot put on. There are two hair dryers (Dyson), but both did not work well, and we and other guests had to use own rooms hair dryers.

I was traveling on business, and reached the hotel earlier than the check-in time. Because the room was ready, they allowed me to check-in. I also switched rooms to stay an extra night (separate from my business trip), and they kindly moved my luggaged to the new room, along with a sweater that I left in my previous room! Thank you!!

In principle, the hotel had some of the best views of the Sakura trees along the river. However, we arrived a few weeks too late so the trees were already green when we arrived. We stayed at a Corner Double room with a view, and the room did not disappoint. There was large double bed, a wide desk, a sofa, and a large TV. It was very spacious for two people. The room had a large window too, overlooking the river, so you can get a lot of sunlight inside the room, as well as wonderful views. The breakfast was great, they had additional measures in place to protect guests from COVID-19. These include providing gloves for guests to wear while getting food at the buffet, small zip bags for your masks while eating, and providing hand sanitizers.

I had a lot of minor problems with the booking. I upgraded from a Corner Twin room with a view to a Corner Double room. However, when I arrived and checked in, they gave me a Corner Twin. They promptly corrected the mix up. Booking.com also kept sending me emails about my "Cancellation request" when I didn't do such thing. I had to call the property to confirm that they didn't cancel my booking.

The hotel is in nice, quiet location walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Parking for the hotel is limited, but there are many coin parking areas easy to access nearby. Staff was friendly. The beds were surprisingly comfortable for a Japanese hotel.

Though our room was non-smoking, the hotel is older and it is clear the rooms allowed smoking in the past - there is a lingering smoke smell. It didn't bother me much, but if you are sensitive to the smell you may not enjoy staying here. I didn't think the coronavirus safety precautions they took in the breakfast area were adequate, the space was very small and crowded. Skip breakfast if you're trying to remain safe.

I am not sure why the breakfast was indicated as great. it was ok, but the room felt like it was a meeting room with a buffet table with only Japanese options. makes sense I guess but the cost is almost as much as 4 star hotels in the corporate rate in Osaka or Tokyo so my expectation was maybe to big judging from the price a night

it felt like an old hotel in a dingy building with overall a quite business hotel feel typical in Japan. for the price I would have expected better and more modern feel.

We had a corner double bed room. It was very spacious and had a nice view of the riverside. Beds were very comfortable as well. The staff was great very helpful despite the language barrier. Covid measures were in place with temperature checks and mandatory use of masks and using gloves at the breakfast buffet. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Friendly and kind workers.A Pokmon go gym and two pokestops are within reach from bed.

Cigarette smell in non smoking rooms.Parking charge for motorcycle.

Upgraded to the superior room with a great river view (actually we ordered higher floor with a nice view from the window when we booked. But it was beyond my expectations) What my husband and I like the best was the breakfast. It was a buffet style but every dish was yummy.

There was no early check in. But it was okay.

    8TetsuyaPosted on: 1-17-2020

There was a small problem about the bath room and staff could not fix it. Then, they offered me to change the room soon.
