    • This hotel is lovely, and adjacent to the Nagaoka station. It felt like a palace compared to small-room hotels we had been staying in.
    • The staff was very friendly and accommodating to us. The breakfast was delicious! The location was also convenient!
    • Nice rooms with easy parking and a great breakfast

    Cons -

    • English isn't spoken as much in Nagaoka compared to Tokyo or Osaka, so we used cell-phone applications to translate withe the hotel workers.
    • It was winter and the aircon was centralized so it was kinda hot. But we opened the window.
    • WiFi is super slow

I have stayed at this hotel a few times. Convenient location, excellent breakfast. The staff are always friendly, and there are no queues at check-in.I would like to especially point out the view from the rooms. The price-quality ratio is always perfect.

The rooms are a bit outdated, but that doesn't reduce the overall impression.

    Location and helpful staff

    Old facilities.

Very convenient for the station although it is on the less lively side of the station. Breakfast was good with an adequate selection of Western items as well as the usual Japanese stomach-churners. Good coffee and lots of it. Breakfast is actually quite good value if you get your breakfast ticket before 10:00PM the previous night - ¥1100 as opposed to double that if you just show up and pay in the morning.

Rooms are very small, but that’s just Japan. A sento’ (public bath) for guests’ use would have been nice.

The hotel was no more than a few minute's walk from the JR station and central for Nagaoka itself. The staff were always helpful and quick to help with any problems.

The air conditioning in our room had a habit of resetting itself to the highest temperature. The hotel was fully booked so there was no chance of getting another room but the staff provided a powerful fan which did keep the temperature under control.

    Staff were helpful

Run down and dreary. First room assigned to reeked of cigarette smoke although it was a non smoking room.

    Excellent location, nice view

Excellent break fast, big size rooms and very comfortable all facilities

I would like more varieties of bread, salads and hot cocoa for breakfast. I’m a vegetarian. So, I’ll be happy to see some vegetarian or vegan dishes.

The restaurant in the hotel closed very early. I had to go to the station to find something to eat for dinner.

Convenient walking distance to food, shopping and attractions.

    Clean but rooms look dated.

Vintage hotel complete with uniformed bellhop. Comfortable, clean rooms. Hotel was located just outside the train station. There was even an izakaya next door.

The rooms and accommodations were nice.

I was asked for my ID specifically because I was not Japanese. Only those that are not residents of Japan must provide an ID. I was told that my husband (who is Japanese) did not need to provide an ID because he is a Japanese citizen, but that I did because I am not. I expect more of all hotels - especially a hotel like New Otani. After telling the hotel that this was not okay, they relented. The staff also seemed confused that my husband and I would share a room - a clear lack of training that a gay couple may visit their hotel. Additionally, the check-in was not even done by the name on the reservation; rather, it was accepted as my husband’s name - which was not the reservation name. I may not consider this hotel in the future given this experience.

excellent staff and central location, nice room, good value for 4 star. breakfast buffet was predictable, but fine. free parking. They recommend a sushi place about 5 min walk away, no English sign. I eat a lot and drank a lot and would go back. pics are mainly of the good sushi place.

its a typical city hotel, but nice big room and decent view (from 5th floor)

The staff were very friendly, kind and accompanying. The highlight of the hotel is the excellent customer service.

The beds were very hard and uncomfortable it felt like springs pushing into my back. The breakfast quality was terrible. Dry salmon and bread, undercooked eggs. The parking was 1,000 yen per day, the hotel had several empty spots in front of it, blocked off, that could have been offered as free parking. The value of this hotel is around 8,000-9000 yen per night. Don't expect the rooms to be equivalent to the prices charges.

The bathroom curtains a bit smelled.
