Comfort Hotel Niigata

I thought the room was very well designed/appointed for its size. The breakfast combined with the very convenient location made for excellent value-for-dollar. We'll done overall!!

The rooms are too small for travelers with full-size luggage. The closet space isn't great either.

The hotel staff were welcoming and available even though we arrived at 10pm. The rooms were clean and warm. There was a good selection of Japanese and Western items at breakfast.

The breakfast was tasty especially miso soup was delicious. The pajama in the room was very comfy

Scrambled eggs didn’t taste like egg. More fruits (sliced apples and frozen blueberries were the only fruits) would be nice. We had the same thing for two days. Pillow was not fluffy and had hard time sleeping

liked it's cleanliness, hostel vibe, breakfast was good, vending machines and laundry great. We traveled in a group of 5.

Wished food was available during the day...but was aware of this. wished coffee was available earlier. with 5 people. 1 was a couple, and their room was small. For singles it was compact, but good. I slept very well.

Room size and bed size

I have stayed at the Comfort Hotel chain before. This is an older property but they are all basically the same so you know what you are getting and its pretty standard: Laundry. Breakfast. NO smoking property. However given my comments below I selected another hotel when I returned to Niigata.

Location. Niigata Station is under construction so getting to the hotel is very inconvenient. Parking. I had to park at another lot because all the parking spots at the hotel were "reserved" with cones or cars. This was a problem because the hotel employee had to help me with the pay machine (Japanese only)Taxi. Staff member was reluctant to call a taxi at departure and told me to walk to the station (with luggage and through a construction zone). In the end I insisted and the taxi came no problem.

The location is great close to the train station and local restaurants. The included breakfast was basic but has everything to get you started for the day.

Whilst the room is on the small side it was what was I expected so you can’t really complain about it.

We had a one night stay here as detour stop over from our jounery from Sapporo to Toyko. This suited our needs for that perfectly and was the cheapest stay of our trip. The room was a decent size, tidy and warm, with thicker duvets than previous stays. Staff were friendly too. The main reason we stayed here was due to the cost and loaction. We felt that we got our value for money on both these items and would have enjoyed the complimentary breakfast if we had been up early enough! It was great to leave our bags here after checking out whilst we explored the city before getting back on the shinkansen.

Check out time was 10am rather than 11am, which seems to be the standard time across all hotels in Japan. We accidently checked out at 11am and were called a few times due to our mistake, however it would be easier it it was at 11am rather than 10am.

I love the shared space of Comfort hotel. Bedroom has good size, toilet and shower room too.

As with all comfort hotels in Japan, you can expect consistency in its room layout, decor and breakfast. The staff are usually very polite and efficient.

The cleanliness of the room. There were some stains on the toilet seat that I had to clean up myself. Disappointing! We have stayed in comfort hotels in Japan since 2009 and this is the first time the cleaning is not up to standard.

This hotel is clean, the staff helpful and friendly, and the breakfast tasty. There is also free, help-yourself coffee in the lounge. It's great value for the money paid.

The location to the train station and downtown was excellent. The breakfast was good.

We had to leave early in the morning and missed breakfast by 1/2 hour while they were setting up. It would have been nice to get a little something before our travels.

The breakfast buffet was good with both Japanese and Western options. It was conveniently located close enough to Niigata station that we could walk there. It's also super close to several main restaurant and bar streets, so we were able to enjoy some fun nightlife too. We ended up renting a car to get to more remote locations around Niigata and the staff helped us pay for parking, and find parking when their lot was full for the night.

The room was pretty small compared to other hotels for the same price, but since we spent most of our time outside of it we didn't really care. It just became cramped around bedtime when we were getting ready to unwind for the day. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean though.

it's like 3 mins walk from Niigata Station, so it's very convenient. The room and bathroom is spacious enough, though it's not big. complimentary breakfast is nice though the choice is not vary. complimentary coffee is provided. Staffs are friendly and helpful

basically no amenity is provided, of course shampoo, conditioner and body soap is provided.

Great breakfast, comfortable room and great service by the staff. Very easy walk from the station. They also have late check-in.

The breakfast had a good selection of things to suit most tastes and was plentiful.

The rooms were quite small and the windows didn't open, although that was expected.

The double bed was situated against the wall, so it was difficult to get out of the bed if sleeps on that side.
