Pros +

  • there was no breakfast
  • Habiba, who takes care of the accommodation, is a very kind and warm person.

Cons -

  • the kitchen was filthy, there was a smell coming out of one of cupboards that reminded me of dead vermin
  • The accommodation is very poorly maintained. The rooms do not have air conditioning; they do have ceiling fans, but they barely provide any airflow as they are very slow. In one of the two rooms we booked, they added an extra fan. During the night, the electricity was out for several hours. The room was hot and stuffy, and there was almost no breeze coming through the windows. Outside in the garden, there are beds, but they are used by the Maasai for sleeping. One of the rooms had a mattress that was severely sagging in the middle, making it very uncomfortable for two people to sleep on in reality, it was just two old mattresses stacked on top of each other. The washing machine that is advertised was not working. The shower had no water pressure, making it impossible to wash properly. The location is close to the sea, but it is not in a particularly nice area, and there is a lot of garbage on the street. The smell inside this old and poorly maintained house is unpleasant, especially in the kitchen. Although Ms. Habiba does her best to maintain the place and keep guests satisfied, it is evident that the owners do not invest anything in maintenance or renovations. It is true that this is a very budget-friendly accommodation, so one cannot expect much for the price, but it was still below expectations.
