    Pros +

    • Excellent central location. Great breakfast. Easy and very reasonable parking. Great view. More of a western style hotel. Not cramped at all.
    • Great location, well organized reception and parking experience. Room with sea and city view, bright room.
    • Large room, comfortable bed, and lots of pillows.

    Cons -

    • Toilet is little small and outdated, but clean.
    • Carpark is not free
    • 1) hotel is old (built in 1998), and pictures are deceiving - the hotel looks clean and new in the photos of the interior and modern on the exterior, but the actual room is far from expectations. The furnishing is old, the toilet was very small with the shower curtains yellowed, the bed was hard and the pillows were small, and the aircon was not functioning well. They marketted as a 4-star hotel but, at best, feel more like a full service 3-star hotel, thay is highly due for significant refurbishments.2) misinformation - staff had told us we can check out at 14:00 given we only checked in at 23:00 the night before, but when it came to check out, they charged us an additional ¥90,000 (~US$65) for checking out at 13:25. They should have either not told us we can check out late or just charged us a nominal sum for the sligh overshoot of the usual 11:00 check out time.Overall, we were charged ¥300,000 (US$215), not including the ¥90,000 (US$65) for late checkout, and we did not feel we were given the value we paid for. All in all, it was a negative experience that we would not recommend. The better alternative would've been a limited service, newly built, 3-star rated hotel.

Only the fact that the toilet water pressure was fine.

Nice room view and clean, the hotel area is safe and quiet.

The lobby lounge is close too early. We can’t enjoy the drink in there after our meals.

The hotel is centrally located, right by the arcade mall and within walking distance of all the shopping areas and restaurants. It also sits at the intersection of two major streets, one that runs to Beppu or south Oita or an entrance to Kyushu Expressway if you plan on driving to other parts of Kyushu. The facility is on the older side, with an outdated bathroom and fewer outlets to charge devices, but these are all tolerable. The breakfast buffet is excellent, with local flavors.

I booked two rooms, with two people per room. Somehow, that was not communicated to the hotel from booking.com, and we had to pay extra on-site.

It is a short walk to the Shotengai and you can access it easily by going to the 2nd floor of the hotel, all the way being sheltered. The staff were very helpful and friendly and even offered us locally made Kabosu drinks for opting out of having our room cleaned daily. As we requested for a baby cot, they were able to arrange for one in our room and provided child toiletries in the room and even at check-in too. The hotel is located beside Oasis Tower which has a Family Mart so buying some snacks was easy and convenient.

The breakfast buffet did seem a bit too expensive for the selection of food but overall still a decent breakfast (2500yen per person, free for children under 6 years old). Also, the info about the hotel states that only 3 parking spaces are available at the hotel, however, there are many more spaces available in the basement (subject to availability and to a charge of 1000yen per day) - so that could be made clearer on their site.

Located near the shopping street in Oita and walking distance to Amu plaza mall. Room was clean. We had amazing views of the township, Beppu and mountains close by. Breakfast spread was excellent with local and continental delights!

Needed to pay for carpark with was underground below the hotel.

Great location close to transport. Good choice of local restaurants and very helpful staff.

Nothing really- typical of Grand Nikko hotels

    9PPosted on: 4-10-2024

The location is about 800 yen by taxi from Oita Station, which is in a distance for walking. The room is old but it is clean and spacious. I love!

Hotel located in a central location of Oita, immediately near covered walking street / gallery with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Walking distance from one major shopping mall and railway station.

for a Nikko hotel, we were disappointed with the overall experience. No charm whatsoever, this hotel is more likely a destination for conference. The windows and aluminum frames had condensation due to cold weather outside (8 degrees). The bed was terrible. I had to change rooms for a slightly less not comfortable soft bed. Pillows (only 2 per room) were almost flat. While coffee was free in all hotels we went to, this one did not offer such basic facility.

    10JingwenPosted on: 12-3-2023

The staff were all very nice and professional (they speak really good English as well). They put me on high floor and I can see the Oita city, very nice view.

    10YeePosted on: 11-19-2023

The convenient location and accessibility to food and shopping. The rooms are very clean and comfy too.

    Nothing, everything was good.

    8HarrietPosted on: 10-24-2023

Location was great, room was very comfortable and spacious

Top of tv cabinet was very dusty but the rest of the room was clean

    9CrystalPosted on: 8-24-2023

Spacious room, good view, good buffet breakfast

    8KatherinePosted on: 5-11-2023

The hotel is well situated in Oita City in close proximity to the train station and covered shopping gallery. The breakfast had a good variety of dishes and were clearly marked with common allergens. The room was spacious and clean. We were lucky enough to be on the 17th floor and had a great view of the bay, mountains, and the city below. Staff were helpful and kind.

The hotel was celebrating its 5th anniversary when we were there, but the building felt much older than that. Everything was clean, but felt a little worn.
