    • A classic Japanese ryokan. Oldschool but clean and quiet. We got the futon and it was super comfortable it was like sleeping on clouds. Food was good too.

    Cons -

    • smell of smoking
    • Breakfast could have been a little more protein since there were too many side dishes
    • Although we loved the EXPERIENCE of the traditional meals, we just couldn't make ourselves eat the breakfast. That's not the hotel's fault, just letting travelers know to be prepared!

Onsen is rooftop, nice view.Room seaview is very nice.Breakfast and Dinner is very good

Lots of parking space right next to the hotel. Great breakfast and dinner. Lovely sea view from the room. There was live flute and piano every hour or so in the lobby, in the afternoon and evening, playing nostalgic tunes. Great outdoor onsen on the roof. There's a large Donki nearby to get supplies.

Location is a little further from the main attractions of Beppu, but with a car this shouldn't be a problem.

The room with the sea view was so pretty! I'm definitely glad I picked that because it was a very nice view. The room itself was traditional japanese and that was great. The futons were laid out after dinner for us, as usual so that's always nice. The dinner and breakfast were good!

Went to the rooftop onsen at night and in the morning. It was a very nice experience at night because it was too dark to see anything in the water. However, in the morning, the onsen was filled with stuff floating in it which was gross and offputting, so I did not stay in there very long after noticing that.

He sea view of the room is very relaxing.Dinner is adequate for the price. There is bathtub in the room, although the tub is very dated. The hotel is on the main bus route. Quite convenient from the station and the Hell Onsens.

Very crowded during the breakfast time. We had to wait in a line for about 10 minutes.Room is dated, not well decorated.

Great Kaiseki meals ( dinner & breakfast)

Onsen bath was not hot enough and floor & tub button were slimy. Not scrubbed regularly.

Spacious room with nice view. Amazing dinner and breakfast. Polite staff. Authentic feel.

Staff could've been more attentive at the meals that we didn't know what we were doing and some dishes that were over flame at the table got overcooked. Sometimes the courses felt rushed.

Our sea view room has very nice view. The delicious dinner has very good variety and quantity. Our server Yoshida did a great job and took time to explain everything despite being very busy. The cost per night is good value with 2 meals included.

The hotel is a bit dated.

Spacious room with private onsen. Our room overlooks the sea.Breakfast and dinner consisted of a variety of dishes but the food is of mediocre quality.

As our room is just opposite the staircase leading to the rooftop onsen, we could hear guests talking and laughing loudly on their way to the onsen in several occasions.

I like about the seaview, so I booked the seaview room. And alsothe roof top onsen.

I think this hotel deliberately didn't tell me about the renovation of the roof top onsen until I can't cancel the booking. This is a cheating. If I know I cannot enjoy the roof top onsen, I wont book this hotel. There are a lot of other choices in Beppu. Another thing is the staff at the check in, the lady is very very rude, both in her attitude and her voice. I wonder that this hotelis owned or bought by the mainland chinese and they hired mainland chinese as the reception and I dont feel I am in a Japanese hotel which courtesy and manner is their priority.

15 Minutes from the Beppu Station by foot.Staff was really nice and the breakfast was also good.Onsen was very nice!

Overall the room was clean, but there was a smell in the bathroom coming from the drain.

The japanese style room was elegant and well furnished. The rooftop onsen is very enjoyable.Good location, close to the JR station.Breakfast was excellent and good value for money.

Futon beds were a bit hard.

Kaiseki dinner was incredible - not the drawn out experience you might get at a restaurant, but understandable in the context of a hotel dinner. Food was local and prepared impeccably. There was a LOT of it - I was beyond full by the end of it. Contrast to breakfast, which was much lighter. Room was amazing - the view was just incredible since you're right on the beach; sunrise was breathtaking. Gorgeous tatami room and great attention to details; when you come back to your room after breakfast the futon is put away in the closet and the table is moved to the middle of the room and set with a fresh pitcher of cold water; when you return in the evening the futon is back with fresh sheets. Bath in the room was civilized with a separate small toilet room; the tub itself was too small for me (traditional Japanese ofuro) but the shower was great and of course the hotel has an onsen on the roof. Small tattoos ok if they're easily covered which I did. Rooftop onsen is open late into the night which was a nice touch. Gift shop is great too!

Honestly I would have preferred a bit lighter dinner and more of a buffet style breakfast, or at least a few more hearty options for breakfast.

Incredible experience of a Japanese style hotel with a view. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and the hotel onsen fabulous! Spotless room with everything I needed!

We stayed in a Japanese style family room, which was very spacious. The breakfast was a traditional style breakfast, which was served by very friendly staff. The staff in general were very kind and helpful.

Th toilet in our room was extremely small, barely usable for adults. But what was really unacceptable was the consistent smell of urine. Clearly the whole bathroom needed to be renovated. We stayed 2 nights and in hindsight we should have asked for a different room. The onsen area was underwhelming. Being in Beppu we had high expectations of the onsen, but they were really disappointing. No sauna or steam room, and the baths were very small and not nicely designed. Better to venture out to different public onsen in town.

Conveniently located hotel, close to JR Beppu Station as well as bus terminal. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and helped us to find information on how to get from Beppu to Nagasaki by bus. Happy experience in in-house onsen. Live music (piano and flute) at lounge.
