    Pros +

    • We couldn't decide where to eat, so we booked a restaurant through the concierge. We were touched by the service for us despite the difficult environment on weekends and evenings. Thank you. The view of the tatami room is amazing.
    • The location is nice, next to Saga Castle. The room is quite big, with good facilities.
    • It's a well staffed, quiet hotel with three restaurants on the grounds. It was further out from the station that I expected, but still accessible.

    Cons -

    • We turn on air con and it smell musty so we have to open window instead.
    • Although the room was clean, I think my room must have been a smoking room at some stage. Despite being classified as a non-smoking room, there was a distinct odour of stale tobacco.
    • (1) To our surprise - the room air cond was not operational in March. Although it was cool outside but the small gaps of the windows could not get enough cool air into our rooms. We had to get the hotel to supply standing tower fans but this did not help in ventilating the rooms. Moreover, the beds were still fitted with thick winter quilts. All of us ended up sleeping on top of the quilts. This was totally not acceptable to us. BTW, our next 2 hotels in Kyushu had operational air cond in rooms. So, such act should not be a cultural thing that the hotel staff said(2) The toilet was pretty tight in reality as compared to the photos seen on booking website. The bathtub was very slim and water would spread to the outer area - wetting the whole toilet cubicle

    (1) The staff were attentive and tried their best to answer our enquiries although most of them were not fluent in English.(2) The hotel sits along the main Saga river/moat of the former Saga Castle Town - its tranquility & serenity made us felt very relaxed every morning(3) Easy surface parking and was free for hotel guests

Parking was accessible and fhe room was a decent size.

The musty smell from the carpeting and soft furnishings and noise from the air conditioning

    Really grim place

People who works there was not nice. We we are chatting in the lobby at 10pm and they turned lights off around us while we are still sitting and talking. Made us really uncomfortable and also they did not say anything to us to let us know why he is turning the lights off in the hotel lobby

Very good hotel, our family of 5 booked a family room, which was better than expected

Located in the city centre with a nice view, free parking

Room harks back to the 1980s/1990s, the furnishing was ANCIENT! It still uses an actual key! Bedding, side table etc. has not changed for at least 30 years (although they were still in serviceable condition) I booked New Otani because of its reputation, but after this stay I'm not too sure.

great location and nice view of the "lake"Concierge was also very helpful. Made a last minute recommendation and reservation to a saga beef restaurant on my first night.

    Hotel is rather dated.

Seating area in the room. Japanese pillow (sobakawa?) is very nice.Very helpful and kind staff. Thank you for all your help! The recommendation to eat at Shino restaurant was really good.

Uncomfortable bed. Bad ventilation, dusty, triggered allergy. Too hot in the room.

    8AnniePosted on: 12-3-2023

Free parking and the beautiful moat view from our hotel room.

    No coin laundry.

Hotel had free parking and it's location was good for us Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Nice Japanese restaurant in the hotel with very reasonable prices.

Room was quite small. Cannot open up 2 suitcases at same time.

    7WongPosted on: 9-30-2023

Staff are helpful. The hotel is old but the room is clean enough.

There are no restaurants close to the hotel. Unless you drive, it s inconvenient.

Hotel bellboy is very nice and courteous. The view is nice.

The hotel needs renovation. The lobby looks new but the room is super old fashioned. The toilet bowl in my room is broken with a crack. The room is dusty. I never need to WIP the bed frames and desks for any of visits before but I have to do so for this.I booked the 3-bed room but the space is so space. I need to rearrange the room’s furniture in order to open 2 luggages. I don’t think there’s space for 3 luggages.
