- Great hotel. Personel was excellent and very helpful. Room was great also.
- Even though the hotel price was friendly, I could tell the hotel staff was high class. It made sense to learn that the hotel has a history and the emperor stayed there. We took ocean viewm the balcony was large and we really enjoyed the view.

An amazing hotel that is perfectly located in the Karato area of Shimonoseki. It is near great places to eat and tourist sights, with easy access to both bus stops and the ferry. The staff was great and very helpful! Next time I am in Shimonoseki, I plan to stay here again.
Great location!Attentive staff!Nice Western breakfast!Free parking

Small entrance/sink/bathroom area of hotel room
Location are great. Breakfast are delicious. Staffs are very friendly. Very clean . My husband and I are delighted and decided to go back again maybe next year.
Only some of the signs that’s not translated in English. Specially in the balcony not too sure what it means. ( not to go out or don’t open the balcony door) but so far everything is great.
The ocean view was pleasing and relaxing.
Very old hotel, it feels aging. The facilities were okay and the staff attention was really good.
Only stayed 1 night. We used the ferry from Mojiko to access the town which terminates right in front of the hotel. We had no expectations of the area as this was a random stop to see the fish market and walk the tunnel between the 2 islands so was pleasantly surprised how lovely it was. The hotel was a well kept building with old fashion charm
The most convenient location. It’s right next to the ferry port and fish market. Also easy walking distance to a few tourist attractions. The rooms were nice and clean. Great view of the port from my room.?Worth every penny. Highly recommend. Will definitely come back.
Nothing to dislike.
It was worth paying for seaview room. The hotel is old, but well maintained. We love that it's just steps from the pier.
The location is the best selling of this hotel. most of the sight-seeing spot along with the ferry to mojiko is within walking distance.
the room is filthy. There is spider web in the bathroom and the trash left from the previous tenant(s) in the room.
Location, friendly staff, comfort, so convenient to go to many restaurants, supermarket, Karato market, Family Mart, ferry port right in front etc etc
Good location, relatively spacious room. good service
The hotel is in a perfect location -- right next to the Karato Fish market, the Karato ferry pier, an aquarium, an amusement park for kids, and at a bus stop from which you can access farther parts of the city.We had a view of the Setouchi, the pier, the aquarium and karato market and could hear the seals and dolphins at the aquarium and the waves lapping along the pier. There were plenty of restaurants and a Family Mart close by. There is also a fantastic bakery next door and you can have high tea at the former British Consulate across the street. The breakfast at the Grand was very good although it's the same offering every day. The Akama and Hachimen Shrines are close by and the Dan-no-ura battle cannons are within walking distance. We had western beds and two western sitting chairs with a small table next to the sliding glass doors which led to a balcony from which could watch the activity on the pier below and the ships going by. At night, the harbor and lighthouse are lit up. The soaking tub came with yuzu bath salts (called bath powder). We had a very restful stay here. The personnel were friendly and helpful. We felt well-taken care of.
There was no hotel shop but there were vending machines.
It's a bit old hotel but everything was tidy and good enough for short stay. Best is the location is close to fish market and the sea.
Family Mart nearby won't open in the evening. Need to walk around 5min to the nearest 7-11.
Convenient location right next to Karato market.
The pillow is too small and low, quite uncomfortable.
The staff were extremely kind and helpful
The hotel really needs a renovation. It’s very old. The room is musty and beds are very uncomfortable
The hotel is located directly in front of the ferries that will take across the bay. also it’s located between the aquarium and fish market. There is a convenience store next door along with several restaurants.
The hotel is grand, albeit old. Bleu Fonce restaurant is nice. The hotel is right next to Karato pier and the aquarium. The only reason I was in Shimonoseki was Ganryu Island. So I loved the hotel's proximity to the pier.
No onsen.
