Grand Mercure Xian On Renmin Square

It was a beautiful hotel. The location was close to everything but far enough away that it wasn't loud.

The beds were horrible!! It was like sleeping on a piece of wood. If you sat on the bed too fast it would hurt you. I have never slept in a worse bed in my life!

Located in a secure compound and convenience to the public transportation. The breakfast was plentiful it suite both the chinese and western style.

The room was a litter bit small although it was clean and comfortable. Besides the lighting was dimmed and difficult to control.

Staff was very good and helpful. Room was clean. Facilities were very pnice.

This place is amazing!!! I couldn't believe when our taxi drove up - there are several buildings, all like palaces, and the Grand Mercure isn't quite as fancy as the adjoining Sofitel, but it is VERY, VERY nice! Wonderful breakfast buffet. 5-star!

Booked at this hotel because of its history. Knew it would be an older building but that is what we wanted. It is in a very quiet part of Xian inside the wall. Not in the very center of all the action but an easy ride from everything. Beautiful area. Really in a complex of three hotels. It is the less expensive of the two historic properties. Elegant old-style decor but appropriate for the building. Nice breakfast. Everything was great.

In a few ways you know the building is from the 1950s. Hopefully any future updates will be appropriate for the building and will not result in a big jump in price. We were willing to accept a few quirks knowing that we could never experience such a hotel at such a great price anywhere else.

Really clean, staff is very friendly and spoke English, the king room is HUGE, the bed is very comfortable. Location is good too.

The room was very clean, and comfortable. Staff spoke English and was very friendly. Location is superb, very central with shops and restaurants not so far. The metro is only a short distance away. Itis located inside a small complex of hotels which include restaurant and other facilities.

I cannot think of one thing I did not like.

Great location, and very professional and helpful staff. They gave us a room upgrade (could not find our booking, but resolved this really fast) and also really took the time to show us a map of Xi'an and where we could go for sightseeing etc. The hotel is in the center of Xi'an, near shopping malls and the Muslim Quarter. The Chinese breakfast was ok, but not great.

The location is excellent down in the middle of the Xi'An walled city, the building was designed to accommodate dignitaries and was later converted for tourist use, therefore the rooms are huge, I slept in the widest bed I've ever seen, two people could barely reach out and touch each other. I've had a great experience with the staff.

Wonderful old time vibe hotel. Felt like traveling back in gilded Era times. Amazing location in a lovely secluded place near all the great places to visit and enjoy. Staff was amazing and very helpful.Made my short trip to this beautiful city unforgettable.

Grande old dame of a hotel. European style, just like you would expect from a French chain. Location is perfect as well.

Showing its age here and there. Breakfast was nothing to write home about.

Excellent location. Staff was friendly and attentive. The place was quiet and relaxing.

No air conditioning therefore rooms were uncomfortably warm. Good gym and pool facilities.

The staff was helpful and very nice. The accommodation was beautiful, the beds were comfortable. We would definitely return, we recommend it.

The location was great. It was nice to come back to a well secured property and a quiet room after all the walking around. The Muslim quarter was just a 20-25 minute walk so plenty of access to good food. A nice old school hotel.

The room temperature was set quite high, and we found it necessary to open the windows to get some fresh air. The room's decor is a little dated, and a heads-up for future guests: the outlets seem to be connected to the light switch, so overnight charging might be affected if all lights are turned off.

Bed was too hard and it was too hot during the night. It was not easy to find
