Pros +
- Outstanding hospitality! The staff helped us arrange our airport transfers and multiple tours with quality guides. Breakfast was fantastic. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Excellent location in the historic centre.
- For my first time visit, I selected this specific hotel, which to me was driven by how central it was to walking everywhere and that was the best part of the stay I could just leave the hotel door and be at the main grand Plaza within five minutes. There is a chocolate shop on the way there is a pharmacy there is banks everything I need and that is really nice. The hotel breakfast was scrumptious and delicious and I truly enjoyed the type of coffee that was served there. I’ve traveled around South America and I believe that this hotel has made a decision to serve. Perhaps the best coffee in South America true story.!! the chef and staff go out of their way to be courteous and even if you are there before the official opening time, they will help you and serve you and that’s what I believe. Makes a great hotel.. also the front desk reception area, staff of very helpful and friendly and a shout out to this front staff for making themselves available to help with any questions very collaborative and perhaps more from the front desk staff than you would get at a fancy hotel
- Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast
Cons -
- To be honest, I cannot think of anything that didn’t meet my expectations. I am not gonna be looking for fault when there’s none.
- in old historic area
- The ~20's guy during the late daytime was not helpful and did not like to be interrupted from his phone.

Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast
in old historic area
I loved the location 3 blocks to the old town square, but on a dead end street so no traffic outside the door. The breakfast was hand made when you show up. The rooms were unique and decor within the hotel was quaint, local, and made it feel.homely and not like a chain hotel in the USA. Yale was extremely helpful and friendly. The night help was field also when I arrived at 0100 on 6 Nov.
The ~20's guy during the late daytime was not helpful and did not like to be interrupted from his phone.
Great location and very good welcome
Deluxe room was rather small with the bed shoved up against the wall and almost no floor space. Main issue was that the rooms open out onto an open stairwell and the noise from above and below echoes up and down. Late arrivals, early departures were noisy and the night manager made no attempt to be quiet or ensure silence. Breakfast was very poor - we asked for no eggs so received 3 bits of broccoli and cold slices of awful cheap white bread. In a city with such high food standards the hotel should be ashamed of what it offers for breakfast.
Great breakfast. Nice big room. Great areas to sit and work. Great location for restaurants.
The breakfast was soooo good.
The hotel didn't have elevators, but the staff was so willing and able to carry my things to my room!
Rooms , the staff the breakfast and the location, I liked it so much I came back for the second half of my trip
The stairs are tough no elevator but the staff was helpful
The staff was very accommodating, the breakfast was fantastic and the location is central and very safe
The stairs to the rooms are cumbersome especially with luggage but the staff was helpful
Spectacular rooftop setting for their delicious breakfasts . Extremely friendly staff who make every effort to please, from a warm welcome to great suggestions for activities. Very close to the main square but on a quiet pedestrian lane. Lounge for tea and coffee at any hour. Private, super clean, nice place.
Quito's buildings often don't have much exterior light which I didn't love, but its not the fault of the hotel.
Staff is suoper friendly, room was nice and clean, highlight is the rooftop with a wonderful view, breakfast was great too
The staff is very nice and the rooms were very agreable. Very near the historic center.
My room was a bit noisy because of the kitchen nearby.
The breakfast was delicious, hot, and filling. The food was different each morning amd they even had a vegan option for my sister.
The atmosphere. The staff were always smiling, laughing and singing as the worked. They were extremely helpful wiith restaurant and activity recommendations. The breakfast was extraordinary for a three-star hotel and the view from the patio of El Panecillo is stunning. As a woman traveling alone I felt safe and "looked after." Muchas gracias para 5 días maravaillosas!
Nada
Good location, historical architecture, healthy breakfast and view from rooftop, large room, comfortable bed.
No elevator, no grab bars in shower, no shower map on tile shower floor, old fashioned shower head.
Yale, the receptionist amazing professional, helpful, smart and generous!Bedding linners very clean and comfortable!
I liked everything
The hotel is located in close proximity to the main attractions in the historic center. The room was clean and comfortable. Friendly and responsive staff. A good breakfast was prepared for us every morning. We enjoyed the view of the Verging of El Penicillio and the neighborhood from the rooftop restaurant. The hotel arranged for us a transfer from/to the airport. We would come back to the Friends Hotel.
Trafic noise coming from one of the streets beside the hotel when the wind was opened.
I really like the lady at the reception, Yale, incredibly helpful and kind. She helped us with everything we needed
The property was super cute! Breakfast was good and the views from up there was really nice. Everything historic was really close by.
Loved the location and map was helpful. Was always able to answer my questions
