Pros +
- The place was vintage, amazing and outstanding. Very captivating. Its one of those dream places to be right in the middle of the forest. The reception gentleman was very welcoming and gave me all the insights on Knysna
- I will be honest with you guys . The stuff is amazing , the reception ladies and the owner were kind and freindly.
- The view is something breathtaking. It was spotless clean every day we put up the service board and we left for the day, and the fire ash were cleaned and new wood was packed for fire. It was perfect.
Cons -
- The check in was a bit tedious as we could not locate the rooms. I would recommend adding a short video that leads to each room sent befor arrival. Since we were very tired from our travel it took us a good 15 mins to find after speaking to the host. Also the numbers to contact the host, reception desk should be clearly mentioned in the rooms. I had called and dropped a message but I did not get a reply to my quires until I had to visit and speak with the reception area personally.
- First the location , were deep inside the forest , far from downtown, very very quiet dark area , which we didn’t feel very comfortable being in . The owner and staff were kind and polite, which we truly appreciated. The cottage itself was located deep inside the forest, which made it extremely quiet — but honestly, a bit too isolated to the point of feeling unsettling. What surprised us was that no staff member came along with us on the first day to show us the way to the cottage and explain things, even though reaching it was not very easy. We expected at least a short orientation, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. The cottage was somewhat old, and although the bathroom was inside, the walls were very low. This meant that anyone in the bedroom could hear everything happening in the bathroom. Having a fully separated bathroom would have been much more comfortable.Cleanliness also fell short of expectations. Dust and insects were present in the corners, and we encountered quite a lot of spiders — some of them quite large — which was honestly worrying.Overall, this is just my personal experience, and I don’t mean to offend the owner or undervalue the property. However, if I could go back, I would probably choose a different place to stay. I just wanted to share an honest and transparent review so that future guests have a clear idea. Of course, your experience may be different from mine. The cottage was good but old , bathroom was inside the cottage next to the bed but with low walls
- The only part that could have been better was that the water pressure in the shower was really low.

1. Amazing views 2. Comfortable Bed3. Spa bath4. Chilled braai area on the deck

We went to the Forest Valley Cottages for our honeymoon, and WOW what an amazing experience. Waking up to the most beautiful views every morning! Drinking our coffee on the patio as the world wakes up filled with bird songs. Then enjoying a glass of champagne in the hot tub whilst listening to the sounds of the night. We will definitely visit again.
Everything. The views, the quiet, how the room was clean everyday and even how thoughtful they were to turn on the hot tub so the water would be warm when we came back later in the day. It was a beautiful experience for our honeymoon.
We loved everything.
The view is amazing, quiet and tranquil. Perfect romantic getaway. Helpful owners!
Nothing. Loved it.
The extraordinary views of and serenity of nature on the deck of the cottage. Also the cottage was really modern with a rural twist.
The VIEW!!!!! The hot tub and the hike.
Leaving
The beautiful view and the quietness of the place are definitely a 10! We booked the Earth Rose Cottage and it’s definitely home away from home!! The lovers spot on the hiking trail? Was definitely a hit! This place is a must go for lovers!
The scenery was breathtaking and the jaccuzi was amazing.Bed was so comfortable.
Nothing that i did not like
Friendly service! Stunning views! Enjoyed the attention to detail and the aircon.
The shower mixer is not working properly. It is difficult to set the temperature.
Beautiful setting and super romantic. We loved the hike. (Bring walking sticks as it's very steep) The small pool area was a treat and the cottage is very well equiped. I think Glory Dawn has the most privacy. We loved it. Highly recommended.
We loved our stay! If I have to say something negative it's this: Baboons passed by each day which made us a bit nervous to leave the doors open, so we had to have aircon going most of the time.
We didn't like it. We loved it. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Spotless clean and friendly staff. Thank you guys for making our stay so special.
Peaceful, tranquil and private. Clean with all amenities. Jacuzzi was the best.
The place was clean. Beautiful views. Staff helpful and advised on what we can do around the area. Quick response when asking for assistance. We'll maintained place.... enjoyed our stay.
The views are breathtaking. Private and secluded. Outdoor shower in Glory Dawn cottage is marvellous. Garden in Sandstone cottage is magical!
No aircon in Sandstone cottage. Please install one Mark ?.
The location of the villas is very nice. Secluded and gives you the tranquility you’re looking for during a holiday. All you see is a beautiful trees and birds..ooh the birds can make beautiful sound!
The location is great. Jacuzzi was to die for. The views, oh my goodness, beautiful. Mark at the reception was very helpful and made our stay comfortable.
How remote it was yet how the staff will explain where everything is
Struggled with the shower temperature
