    Pros +

    • The proeprty was easy to find and access was just as easy with the access code the hostess sent us prior to us arriving. The chalet was open when we got there so we could immediately go in, unpack and stare at the views. Although linen and towels was provided, there was no coffee or tea, which was not a problem because we always have cappucino sachets in the car. Otherwise a fully equipped kitchen was available to prepare meals. An airfryer is always an added bonus because it's so easy and quick to use. There was no TV, which suited us perfectly. There was, however, good strong wifi to check up on things at home. Bathroom and bedrooms is spacious and the beds veeeeery comfortable with pillows I wanted to take home because they didn't make my neck hurt when I woke up. This is not a 5 star hotel but for the price I doubt you will find any better. It exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back soon
    • LocationCold but portable heater helped
    • Great stay with everything you need, including wood to braai with! We also found extra blankets, so although it was cold, we were comfortable. The view was beautiful!

    Cons -

    • It would be a nice touch to provide coffe or tea seeing that the property is some way out of town but it's definitely not a dealbreaker. Everything else was perfect, clean and spacious and the views are out of this world.
    • Fans were filthyNo salt or even basic washing essentials - need to advise
    • The kitchen accessories like a dishing up spoon was not available, also no grater. These are quite necessary when it is self catering. The network reception even with the wifi was not great but thats good if you dont need it.

Spacious and clean. Has everything you need for a self catering apartment. The sound of the ocean crashes right on your pillow when you go to sleep. Easy to find from the N2

Nice and remote location if you want to get away from the busy towns/cities. Great view and little beach at the bottom of the mountain and natural growing vegetation all around. All the amenities were in good condition.

The kitchen accessories like a dishing up spoon was not available, also no grater. These are quite necessary when it is self catering. The network reception even with the wifi was not great but thats good if you dont need it.

The view of the ocean was stunning.Unit was very clean.

The Wi-Fi was very very poor and was not able to work from the unit.

Shooo… what a place! Simply incredible. The views from the rooms, kitchen and outside area are just so special.

    Beautiful views easy to find

Cleaning services hardly cleaned, pitched at wrong times had fights outside our unit had to quiet them up. Walk way to the rocks is very unsafe and hasn’t been maintained in a long time and to risky to walk down.

The view was amazing. Cottage very comfortable and clean

The long sand road to get to the property ! A lot more could be done to make a persons stay even more perfect : small things like soap (hand wash or similar) in bathroom - (I don’t remember when last I have arrived at an rental without at least soap) A few teabags/coffee etc would have been welcome on arrival.

    10NormanPosted on: 12-30-2024

Reservation application sufficient and was kept up to date and was contacted to confirm and told to drive safely quite caring before arrival.

    Nice view of the ocean

There were not a lot of useful tools such as irons, the wifi connection was bad.

We had a great stay. The chalets have an amazing view! We even saw a whale from the terrace. Unfortunately it was windy and cold for us to use but it’s located in a beautiful setting on the cliffs by the sea. You definitely need a car to reach location.

    10JéandrePosted on: 7-8-2024

The view was the best aspect of this resort. The chalets are private and have the cutest fish names for each chalet. The best part for me is not having a TV because it gives us the necessary time to talk, rest, walk, or drive around.

    9LinezePosted on: 3-31-2024

Comfort of house and the exceptional view over the sea. Dolphins frolicking in the waves right in front of us. Night good sleeping with the sound of breaking waves on the rocks. Cool enough no Aircon’s needed. Very big nice braaier on veranda with full sea view.

No television. Difficult to keep kids occupied if its raining. Got Wifi. May be Netflix. Not necessary for Multichoice. Wood appreciate cleaner every day.

    7HarmsePosted on: 3-15-2024

The view was spectacular! Chalet no.1 is recommended for the best view. Quiet and surrounded by nature. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen.

Wifi signal is terrible and there's no television, this proves difficult to keep a toddler entertained. Not toddler friendly especially because of the stairs from the front door next to the bathroom to the kitchen below, and the steps from the sitting area to the veranda. My 3 year old fell from the stairs multiple times and anded up with quite a few bruises. Some sort of enclosure or roll up sail would be nice on the veranda - when the wind or rain hits you can't sit outside and enjoy a braai because it's simply unpleasant out.No back up power, I would like to see a battery back up system considering the amount we paid. We had stage 6 loadshedding when we stayed here, it was quite unpleasant and frustrating.

Beautiful location, and the facilities were clean.

Some kitchen item to be added and updated. Why did they have to paint the bricks?

Nothing, we were supposed to book in on 22/9/23. On 31/9/23 we received a phone call stating Blue Whale resorts has a new owner and he is renovating the place.

We were supposed to book in 22/9/23, on 21/9/23 Corrine phoned, explained Blue Whale resort has a new owner and he is refurbishing the place and she offered us another place. We did not have another option and accepted.Durrens Cove, Herold’s Bay. This was a one room with a bed and two chairs and a bathroom. If you open the sliding door you have a table and two chairs. This was such a disappointment. We never met anybody, the key was in the door, all instructions was via cell phone, even when we left this morning we received a message to pay at the thatch room but she was not even there!

pretty view. perfect self catering place. staff are very welcoming and helpful

The location and sea view was lovely.

No Wifi !!! We were checked in at number 4 - seems numbers below 8 have poor signal.( I was told afterwards that number 4 unit does not have internet). It was understood that the owner had sold and couldn't care less of my complaint in the morning and seemed relieved that she has sold the business... The much needed internet was obtained by standing outside the reception office. The wooden walkway down to the beach is dangerous with slippery conditions and no maintenance (broken boards) Need railings for assisted downhill journey.. Please be careful !I can only hope that the new owners have more interest and better management skills than the previous owner ( who is clearly out of her depth in the hospitality industry).

Self-catering accommodation with bath and shower.Awe-inspiring view over the ocean while the dolphins are feeding/playing in the crashing waves near the shore. The stars were even brighter during load-shedding.

The Wi-Fi was unreliable and unpredictable, but, then again: I didn't stay at this wonderful place just so that I can use the Wi-Fi.
