Great Diponegoro Hotel Surabaya

Good Wifi and close to a market and KFC.

The staff stated if I wanted a smoking or non smoking only to tell me that they only have smoking rooms left. Dont think their English was the greatest as she initially said there was a non smoking room available if I wanted it. Staff stated I did not request a non smoking room; well there wasnt that option when I booked. She tried to salvage with an air-fresher but the entire room was already soaked with cigarette smoke from previous stays.

Convenient location in the city. Price is reasonable. The restaurant is convenient. Customer service was ok. Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Hotel is not in a walkable area. Service seems a bit slow.

Staff were nice, food was good, decent room size and bed was comfy.

- Bathroom was very dirty. Shower had grime all over the shower.- Water from tap and shower was brown.- Cups and mugs in room were visibly dirty.- AC unit was leaking water onto the floor.- All of the bathrooms at the backpacker hostels I've stayed at in Indonesia were cleaner than this.

The rooms are pretty old. Both the corridors and the rooms have this very intense ambient perfumes that is persistent, overall unpleasant and cannot be exchanged with fresh air since windows cannot be opened. Room equipment (bath cloths, bed sheets etc) are of poor quality and during my stay I went for breakfast at 9.30 (closing time was at 10 am) and basically all food was finished. The personnel is also inexperienced, at least for the quality one would expect given the price.

The room was dirty when we checked-in. There was hair in the bathroom and a broken glass on the floor.Breakfast was unbearable, no western options and very few asian options. No bread or fruits.The shower was broken splashing everywhere.Despite asking for non smoking room the smell of cigarettes was everywhere from the corridors and inside the room.Terrible decision to stay there.

Excellent place to stay at, big, clean, and spacious rooms, quick and easy check-in, free luggage storage, will definetely stay again if ill visit surabaya in the future

The staff is very helpful and friendly. It was really easy to extend for another night. The breakfast is also good, a mix of Indonesian and Western food.

My room wasn‘t that clean. The bedsheets had stains on them and were a bit damp and there was hair on the floor. The room also had kind of a weird smell. The location is right next to a big street with lots of traffic. My window was towards that street so it was quite noisy at night. The rooms just don‘t really live up to the pictures on here I think.

The staff really help in solving our problems

We stay 3 nights there, but at that time we arrive n did late check in, the staff told us that the non smoking room was full n they gave us the smooking room. We can not sleep at that time n ask for moving to non smooking room at the 2nd n 3rd day.

Friendly staff, good price, wee bit far from main areas, but staff quite happy to phone taxis, thanks to Miss Nureal.Probably about 15 mins in taxi around 20,000 rupiah to Tunjungan Plaza, so not too bad.Rooms a decent enough size,So all in all not too bad.

Having to log into WiFi every time. It seems like a usual thing in Indonesia. Would have been great if that restriction wasn’t there

My first nite there i cant sleep because its very noisy.There is motor cycle club gathering in the road next to the property and the sound of they exhaust are very noisy all nightPerhaps the room could be improve with sound proofing

We chose a smoking room, I didn’t realise this meant smoking inside of the room, so room smelt of smoke initially but cleared once air con started.

Staff was polite.

During the night, when the lights are switched off, there is a light that keeps flicking on and off, which was very disruptive to sleep. Furthermore, just outside the room, there is a hotel speaker that continuously plays songs, even during the night. It’s quite loud and noisy at night too. Breakfast wasn’t worth it for the price. There was mould in the bathroom and shower too. The pillows were very old and yellow on the inside.

staff is friendly especially housekeeping and security, NOVEN was the one who clean my room after the second day i stay there he know what stuff i want without asking me ? and to the security i don't know his name he willing to lend his helmet for us..so thank you so much, will definitely come back to stay here?

Location is the only thing this hotel is good for.

Paid full day for early check in at 10am as I've been traveling all night, only to be given the room with 2 small bed and I can't moved to the room I've booked with 1 double bed at 2pm for some reason. instead of letting me rest, they keep calling you about the laundry I mention at the check in I needed done. gave the dirty laundry to them, only to be repeatedly called to make sure I can afford the ridiculous fee they charge (AU$35) for small amount, any laundry place in Bali will only charge AU$3 for. Once done, instead of putting the bill to be paid when checking out, they want you to pay right there and then, they even took the efpost machine to my room when I told them I haven't got cash.I don't know who the boss of the hotel is, but I feel sorry for the staff, this hotel got to be frequented by criminals who do the runner all the time that the staff have to treat every guests as criminals.Paid full day for early check in to get some rest? Out the window!.The rooftop bar have a big Guinness signage on the wall, drink of my choice, I was happily imagining a properly poured Guinness with shamrock on top. only to found out they only have one single bottle in the fridge along with 4 Bintangs.I am a good tipper, Anthony Bourdain is my guru, the only staff of the hotel that got my tip is the bar lady who didn't treat me like a criminal.

The times of room service are different than in the folder in your room. Just a thing.

Very clean and great location with friendly staff

Clean and comfortable. The location suits me well. Quick response from the staff to check and replace a faulty safety deposit box.
